11/25/07 4 Night Wonder - anyone else?

I can't believe we are getting this close and we don't have too many people who have actually checked into this thread. Is there another one out there for our cruise that I missed? Isn't the cruise sold out?

I can't wait. I got my room assignment on Monday and my docs should be here on Friday. WOOHOO!!! :yay:

And the kids still don't know!!! :rotfl:

I'm pretty late...(and a newbie!) but, myself and my fiancee (although by cruise time he'll be my husband!) will be on the Wonder 11/25-11/29 on our honeymoon and first cruise ever...we're very excited and can't wait!!

Welcome!! This will be our first cruise also. We've had this booked since April and the wait is killing me! It won't be much longer now though!  That's so exciting...cruising on your honeymoon! Best Wishes for your marriage!

Thank you! We booked our's back in the spring too, and you're right, the wait is a killer! Luckily I've had wedding plans to keep me busy...but both my fiancee and I have said to each other how we think we might be looking forward to cruise more so than the wedding at this point! Can't wait to set foot on board and enjoy the magic that everyone on here talks about!

Hi All. My husband and I and our ds 11 and dd 6 will be on the Wonder 4 night, 11/25.
So excited. 1st cruise for the kids (except for Discovery Cruise to the Bahamas (doesn't count)
A couple issues I'm worrying about. Both kids felt sea sick on the Discovery Ship and I'm praying Bonine or Dramimine will do the trick for them. Any suggestions?
Also dd 6 is very shy and we will feel awful if we can't get her to go enjoy herself at camp.
What are you all planning to do at port?
Looking forward to hearing from fellow cruisers...

Julie :woohoo:

Welcome Julie. This is our first cruise as well. I am not sure about the motion sickness question but I will be taking Bonine and Dramamine with me as well just in case. I have also read on here that people use ginger tablets also to help with this and have great luck with that.

We don't really have any formal plans at the ports except a Couples Massage in the Cabana! As for Nassau, I think we may just walk around a bit and then spend most of the day by the pool sipping on cold drinks. We will see what the kids want to do. We are going for 4 days at WDW before our cruise so I will most likely need a break!

My DD is 5 and my DS is 8 so they might be in the same clubs. My daughter loves meeting new people so perhaps they will hit it off and it will make it easier on your DD. Did you get your room assignment yet? We will have to be sure to introduce the kids. Send me a PM if you want and we can make arrangements.

Hi Julie! Well, I don't have kids (yet!) and this will be our very first cruise, but I am very sensitive and get motion sickness very easily-including riding in a car-even short rides around town doing errands. I'm planning to see my doctor before the cruise and request a patch (sorry, not sure the name of it) that sticks behind your ear. I'm hoping that will work so I don't have to drug myself with dramamine every day, but I'll have it along just in case!

My husband and I have cruised before. Once in June and once in January. I took Bonine every night of both cruises. The only time I felt a little queasy was in the dining room and in the theater on the January cruise when the waves were a little stronger. I am looking to see if they have Bonine for kids because Bonine is once a day. Dramamine says every 6-8 hours.
I will write to you Katy. It would be great to get the kids together before we go into camp! We are looking forward to the family time, but it would be that much better to have some grown up time too!
Julie

Katie,
The message board isn't allowing me to send you a PM. Could you try and PM me and then I'll try and write back...?

How in the world did I miss this thread.

I have been booked on this cruise for quite a while now. Guess I've been too busy with other things.

Anyways, I'll be cruising with everyone.

Just by myself right now.

I'll have to read the thread and catch up on what is going on.

Anything I should know that is important????

I just got off the Wonder last week.

I did the DVC Member Cruise and the B2B. Seven days on her and it was magical.

I leave on 11/14 for a 3 day on the Wonder w/my 4 yo g/baby and my step-g/DD who is 22. This is is b/day present for the 4 yo. Should be lots of fun for her.

It would be nice if we all could meet up for a pre DIS meet.

A good place would be in the Promenade Lounge say around 3 pm on Deck 3.

It is very, very easy to find, as that is the Deck that you board on. It is after we eat and before the drill and sail away party on Deck 9.

If everyone wants to give their thoughts, we can set it up.

This will be my 20th Disney cruise and each time it is like my first.

WE SAIL IN 21 DAYS
Yipee

KRDisney, Are you going on the 11/25 Wonder?
You are asking US if there's anything YOU should know?? LOL After 20 Disney cruises, you should know-it-all!

Julie

you silly -

I thought a DIS meeting had already been set up and I didn't want to over lap or miss that one. :lmao:

Julie-
I sent you a PM.

Krdisney-
I would be up for a DIS meet. We will be doing the Land & Sea so I am not sure what time we will get to the ship. I want to sign my DD up to get her hair braided, I think that is at 3, and then I am sure my kids are going to want to eat and hit the pool ASAP. Any idea what time we would actually get to the ship using Disney's transportation? I have heard it is later than most everyone else.

Has anyone gotten their tickets yet? We've been paid in full since June. We're 3 week out now...Anyone???

not quite time right now.

should get them in about a week.

I got my docs for 11/15 just last week.

If you checked in online, you will be getting only the luggage tags and the customs slip.

If you went thru a TA, they go to the TA first and then you.

Hi, everyone. I just booked this cruise today using some extra DVC incentive points. DH and I are empty nesters...below are our grandkiddles. We will be at VWL for one night, I will cancel the next 4 nights now that I booked the cruise, and then back to VWL/SSR for another week. DGS Nicholas (adopted when baby from Russia) and DD and DSIL will be down the second week with us for MVMCP. I am a little nervous about the cruise. I have been on one 3 day Carnival cruise 15 years ago and used a scop patch behind my ear. I will try the bonine this time. DH has never gone on a cruise, and at first said never, ever....but said he would go with me on a short cruise...so, hope he does ok...he gets motion sick, but does ok flying...retired from USAF, but never on a ship. It is all so overwhelming, and I need to buy that passporter cruise book. I doubt I will get off the ship in Nassau...last time we did we were mobbed by the straw market locals and when we didn't buy something had explitives screamed at us (DD and I)...DD was only14 then, and it was very intimidating. I also burn very easily so I don't want to overdo it in the sun. On that cruise, I missed suntan lotion on my chest and had permanent scarring on my chest for years...the sun is very intense, IMHO.

Looking forward to castaway cay....not looking forward to dress up night...I think I may skip that and get room service or whatever other choice we have.

Susan

Hi Susan:

WELCOME ---

don't worry about dress up night. It will be fine. Two weeks ago when I was on, on dress up night I wore a skoit and a shirt only. I "refused' to dress and so DID A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE.

Actually people really do dress up now just to have their family/individual pics made.

Just don't wear shorts sor a bathing suit. LOL

Nassau is much better now. They don't let the locals do that anymore. The straw market is way down Bay streen near the end in a huge tent and they stay there.

There is a customs building at the entrance now and there are a few shops in there.

If you wanted to walk around, you won't be "mobbed" anymore.

Susan:

Did you add on DVC points??

Where???

AKL??

I just added onto SSR again. Didn't want AKL. It really doesn't matter where you buy into, just if you like the 11 month out idea. I've never not gotten the resort I wanted to stay at so SSR was OK and a little cheaper.

I have 2 contracts at VWL and 2 at SSR now.

Just added on last week while on the DVC cruise and got many nice incentives and the DVC Member Cruise free for next year in a Cat. 6 outside stateroom verandah for two.

So I'm taking a friend with me and she doesn't pay and then she is taking me on the 2008 May Panama Canal cruise w/her and I don't pay. I was excited about that. I had the Panama Canal cruise booked but had to cancel due to family matters previously.

I hope we don't look too out of place. We are planning to dress up for "dress-up night". This is our 1st cruise and we think it will be fun to get all dressed up! I've read that alot of people don't dress-up for the 4 night cruises but oh well. :goodvibes

My original contract was SSR, then a quick add on at VWL and another quick add on at SSR. Then I recently added on 2 contacts at SSR for the incentive points. I really like SSR. We stayed at AKL in concierge for a week prior to purchasing DVC...it was just ok. Nice, but not my thing. I know some people just love it. It was very novel at first seeing animals outside my door, and getting great concierge service and snacks etc. But it got old fast for us. It is too dark for me, and yes, I know Africa is the dark continent. I like visiting there, but I don't need to stay there. We live in the north and during winter it is so dark here and so barren, and I HATE it. So when I go to Florida, I love sun and flowers and bright things to make my mood better. That is just our personal preference and to each his own. We love the pool at BCV and stayed there once, but it was noisy compared to SSR. Loved OKW, but it is getting dated and needs some refurbishment, just MHO. Have not stayed at BWV...and will try that one day. Love VWL as it reminds me of summer camp, and winter in our cabin when I was a child.

So if I do an add on while on the cruise, I may get a free cruise? Or is that in place of the extra points? If we like this one, will do another one in Feb or early early spring. I am hoping for good weather on this cruise and NO SEASICKNESS....the dress up night thing still bothers me. DH and I no longer enjoy dressing up...we are no longer young, we are in late 50's and we are young at heart, but want to just relax and enjoy ourselves. When I have to dress up, it makes me very uncomfortable and I can't wait to get home....but it won't keep me off the cruise...I have to study up so I know where I am going and don't waste a lot of time trying to find things!

Just love my fellow Dis'ers. We are the greatest!:woohoo:
