Good Morning everyone! It is suspose to warm up here today a little...it was cold enough yesterday for a winter jacket:scared1:

I was at school last night for a meeting and we were told that anyone planning to take there children out of school has to write a letter to the principal and ask for permission even for kindergarten...so I guess I need to write a letter later today.

The student teacher at our school has a best friend who works in the kids clubs on the Magic...but he is off in November.

morning Jaime,
looks like we are the only early birds today.
I am sitting here waiting for a rocke tlaunch, hoping to see it out my back yard. I can view the shuttle easily but the rockets are smaller and I really need for it to stay dark for it to show up much.

I am also going to look on Ron Jon's web cam to see if it is visible there too. I think it is pointed in the right direction to see the launch.

Not much else happening here today. I will be back later with a photo for the day,

kathy

Yikes...permission from the principal....for kindergarten. I was told from several other parents that pulling DS from kindergarten wouldn't be a problem so I better check into it right away.

Did anyone watch Dirty Sexy Money last night? I'm hooked!

I have to write that letter every year. Best to try and show that the trip will be educational in some way. One year, I said we would learn how to say Merry Christmas in each of the languages at Epcot. This year I am thinking I will use the Island cultures and learning about Stingrays. Every year I get the lecture letter back from the principal, telling me about how 'irresponsible' it is to take kids out of school. Blah, Blah, Blah. As long as the time is approved, I toss it! :rolleyes1

Here is Greg looking off our balcony spying on the Carnival ship docked across from us. It is amazing how many people leave their curtains open when they shouldnt while docked:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
You dont want to know what we have seen:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Just remember to bring your binoculars on the cruise and check it out:rolleyes1

That's so funny about school. I've never had to write a letter. I wonder if I will this year..................I think I'm going to have to ditch DWTS. I just can't get behind anyone this year. I have Dirty Sexy Money on DVR. Glad to hear it's good.

Jaime-I will post some things about Disney Quest when I get to work so watch for them.

See ya guys later.......

My bestest friend, Jessalyn, with our servers, Patricio and Fabio, stylin' in their 2006 Nana Head shirts! (note Tonya taking the same pic in the foreground!)

I had to do that last year -- I believe it's a district policy to fill out a form for a pre-arranged absence (regardless of the age of the student).

I just filled out the form, turned it in, and about a week or so later, they sent me a copy of the form signed by the principal showing it was approved. No one hassled me about taking my kid out of school for a week!

I help at the school on Fridays so I guess I should take care of it tomorrow. . .

Melanie --have you watched that new show on HBO -- "Tell Me You Love Me"??:confused3 :confused3

Anyone else??? It's another one of those "suck-you-in-and -won't-let-you-miss-an-episode" shows!:rotfl:

No I haven't... when's it on? I'm not even sure I've seen the preview.

I watched that Dirty Sexy Money last night. That was entertaining. I know what you mean... I don't really need any more shows...

Hi all. I'm too tired to talk much, had to bus the entire restaurant by myself tonight. I think I'm gonna get a better job... :cool1: :cool1:

- Josh

Josh-
I remember those type of jobs. Yeah... they do kind of suck. But you have to do them so later you appreciate having a better job! Plus you'll always be really nice to people waiting on you at restaurants!

Jaime-I don't have the cruisemate list with me:scared1: so I don't remember how old your girls are. Jacob has wanted to go to Disney Quest for years , but last May was the first time I took him. There are a lot of rides that have height requirements, so you want to make sure she can ride them. Because the week you are going to be there is a slower week, you may be alright, but it's very crowded on the weekends. VERY long lines. There are some cool rides there, but those are the ones with height restrictions. Otherwise, it's mostly arcade games. Before I planned that as a day or spent the money I would make sure she can ride Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets, etc. Those are the ones that are really worth doing. The do have an animation section but so does the ship, and you can always go to another arcade. That's my two cents..........

Thanks for the info...

I'll measure her when she gets home...she's 5. When we went to WDW in 2005 she measured 42". Just checked the website...the only rides I would need to worry about her height I probably wouldn't want her on anyway. Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters & Cyberspace mountain.

It will be something me and Alicia will skip...not my cup of tea...we'll just have a look around DTD and some of the hotels.

Well I just gave the princpal my letter...she wasn't thrilled...but said okay after complaining about the 11 days of missed school...if I truely thought it she would suffer because of our vacation I would not take her out of school.

I LOVE WDW at Christmas. We are going to try and squeeze in as much as we can the two days before the cruise at the parks. Then Saturday when we get back, we're going Hotel Hopping. I love it. The Christmas Party is a blast. The parade is one of the few I bother to watch anymore. It seems like forever since they've had new parades.

Can they really stop you? Here, you can't miss a certain number of days, I can't imagine they could actually forbid me to take Jacob out of school.:confused3 My mama always taugh me if you don't think you're going to like the answer, don't ask the question.............I might just take him and not tell them. Of course, I would like to have his work.

This truly makes me crazy and is one of my pet peeves. If you as a parent think that your child can handle that amount of time away from school and you are willing to make up the work, then who the hell has the right to tell you otherwise or make you feel guilty? We are lucky that our school has been very good about this. We turn in the form, they sign it, we ask the teacher how she wants to handle homework, makeup assignments - tell her whatever is easiest for her...she gives us the work, we do it. Elizabeth comes home with all A's. End of story.

By the time she hits high school we may have a different opinion (and so may she) but until then we're vacationing when it works for us as a family. Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us. I lost my mom when she was 50 years old so I learned early on to live for today because tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

Ok. Off my soapbox now. Hope everyone is having a great day. I am!

Okay, I know I'm a little twisted. I'm the kind of person that can't stop myself from laughing when someone falls even though I know it's not funny..........anyhoo, there's a carpet warehouse right across the parking lot from my office and after years of hard work I get the office view of their loading dock:lmao: so anyway, this contractor pulls up and they're unrolling the carpet so they can cut it and starts to POUR!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I've never seen three men move so fast in my life.........but it was like watching Laurel and Hardy because there they are trying to get it in the gargae, and it's folding in half and twisting..........oh man, the tears are rolling

Well, I sent an email to the teacher today about the upcoming vacation and she replied right away. No problem! She said to send a note two weeks prior to leaving stating the reason he will be missing school (family vacation) and she will give me all the missed assignments. She said he's going great in school and shouldn't have any problems with missing. :cool1:

Someone posted a question about watching The Bachelor the other night. I started to watch and then fell asleep! I was bummed because I really enjoy the first episode...lots of fun to see the women making total fools of themselves. This bachelor doesn't do anything for me so I'm glad to remove a show off my "must watch" list.

Oh, you know HBO -- it's on about 20 times a week!!!

I think it may be on Sundays at 8:00 (right before Curb).

It's about 3 couples who see a couples therapist (and there's a plot line involving the therapist herself). In typical HBO form, it's rather explicit!:scared1:
