Good Morning Everyone!

Soccer begins this weekend with an eye-opening 8 a.m. game! Hope to close the pool this weekend. It keeps threatening to rain. Got a 5 minute downpour yesterday evening.

Kathy, I had sooo much to do when I got home that I didn't get to think about being tired but I'm starting to crash today. Good time to catch up on the internet!

Jaime, The two people I liked to watch on Big Brother are now gone :confused3 I really don't want to see Dick or Danielle get the money. I guess I would prefer to see Jameka get it before Zach but who knows she might sneak through but I wouldn't bet on it. What did you think?

Well, off to go to the shoe store with my granddaughter. This will be her first pair of shoes. She only had sandals before!

Will check in later!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hi Jaime!

When we dock in St. Thomas are we within walking distance of the shops?
Yes, if we dock or are tendered, you'll be taken right to the downtown area of Charlotte Amalie, and loads and loads of shopping!

When we dock in St.Marteen can we take a water taxi to a public beach? Is there anything to see close to the ship...within walking distance?
The water taxi operates between the cruise pier and the heart of downtown Philipsburg; cost is $3 each way (a roundtrip discount price of $5 is often available). To go to one of the beaches, you'd probably have to take a regular taxi. When we dock, you'll go right thru an area entering into St. Maarten that has lots of taxi's and cars for rent. Very very easy to get around Phillipsburg!

Also we are trying to figure out the dining...the CM at DCL said because of my dd's ages I will probably be eating at 8:00pm...so I think that means I will be at PC on formal night...maybe I should try to go to Palo's that night...what do you think? The menu looks good for PC but not sure if I want to eat there all dressed up:goodvibes
Your dining time does not designate which restaurant you'll be in. Regardless, let me say that our group was in PC last year for formal night, and to quote my friend Tonya, "Who cares what restaurant we're in? What matters is that we're with our friends!" We had a wonderful time, to say the least!

How do you add pictures to post? Can't seem to get it working:confused3
OK, first get an account on photobucket.com (it's free), then upload your pictures to there. Once you do that, you'll see a codes underneath the photo. You'll copy the code for "IMG" and past it into your response on here.

Jaime - Actually where the water taxi drops you off in Phillipsburg, there is a decent beach. By no means my favorite beach but it was adequate for our needs which was a short stay. The bars and restaurants will rent you chairs/umbrella's relatively inexpensively. There are a ton of vendors roaming the beach but will go away if you say no thanks. My DD8 asked "How much" to one... so........

We are planning to do something else this time. Gonna head to Orient and hope that we don't have a lot of explaining to do to DD8 after that trip. But I don't want to be on St. Maarten/St. Martin twice in 2 years and never have seen what everyone calls the most beautiful beach on the island.

Here are some pictures from the beach we went to last year.

Hi!

Dawn on Big Brother last night I was really hoping Zach would have taken someone of the block so Dick would have had to put up Danielle...oh well...my favorites are all gone too.

Shell thanks for answering all my questions! Really have no idea when we'll book Palo's...at this point though I guess I probably won't have a lot to choose from anyway.

JD99...thanks for the pictures the beach looks pretty good...I thought we'd avoid all the questions from our dd about Orient Beach...she notices everything and I can so picture her on the beach pointing "what's that" :lmao:

Gotta run and try to clean up...thanks again for all the help!

here is my photo of the day.
This was our potato race car for the Mickey 200. we got 1st place for design and 2nd place for the final race. The grandkids were thrilled. The driver has Mickey shaped ears (carrot)

Jamie, I looked at all the menus for each night, the one I liked the least was the night I decided to eat at Palo. If you don't get the night you want book whatever you can get and when you board the ship you could go to Wavebands and change your reservation, plus you will know what your rotation is and you could change to the night you want.

No much going on this weekend except the Bachelorette Party tomorrow night. I am in charge of the food. This is what we are making:
Baked Ziti
Fried Shrimp
Garlic Knots
Cliantro-Lime Chicken Salad
Antipasto Salad
Cupcakes
Jello Shots :teeth:

Ummm yeah...my DH will be making every thing except the Chicken Salad and the cupcakes...I  having a husband that cooks. My sister and I will be working on the cupcakes tonight. We love working with fondant and while I'm not as talented as Mutt...they usually come out pretty good. I will take pictures of them to show you guys. I have actually been working on them all week. Each cupcake will have 24 little flowers on them:scared: yes it's a lot of work but it's fun. There will also be some naughty cupcakes too...I'll let you use your imagination on those:rotfl2: It's kinda like a Sugar and Spice theme.

It should be a very cool party. They have rented a private pool at Green Valley Ranch Hotel (Hell's Kitchen Hotel). There will be a DJ, Bartenders and of course Stripers:woohoo: It should be a pretty crazy night. I can't wait...it been way too long since I've partied like a Rock Star party:

Well, today is the day...they are finally moving my mom from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility at 2:30. I sure hope she listens to what they are trying to teach her-she can be soooo stuborn sometimes!! I guess that is what keeps her going :thumbsup2

Have lost 3 lbs since starting South Beach diet on Sunday :yay: Lets hope I can keep it up..had lost 85 pounds 6 years ago on weight watchers-and now I have this weight that keeps creeping up on me...I'm 12 pounds up from my goal weight  Oh why can't I be one of those naturally skinny girls:confused:

Kathy & Dawn glad you are back safe and sound. :)

Haven't booked any excursions yet...I think we may just walk around or grab a cab.

Quiet here with the kids at school  :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: ....well except for yappie Lucy :dogdance:

Have a great day...will check back later......

Hope your mom is doing okay with the move.

I have 12 pounds to loose too...and it is going to be gone before I go on this cruise! I started loosing weight 6 years ago after coming home from WDW and seeing my picture:scared1: Wow...that weight can creep up...I just changed my lifestyle and over the past 6 years I have lost 88 pounds(not including pregancy weight which was about 80 pounds:goodvibes )...my goal in 2001 was to loose 100 pounds by the end of 2007!

We have decided that we will not book any excursions...sound like it's pretty easy to move around on the islands...at least that way we have the freedom to return back to the ship when we want.

Wow, that's amazing. I lost 20lbs for my 2005 cruise unfortunately it has all come back:sad2: I really need to lose it all because none of my cruise clothes will fit me. As of now my formal dress can not get past my hips. It looks like I will be wearing one of those super strech Hefty bags for formal night, should I wear a black or white one  I will be going back to my nutritionist next month, that's how I lost it the last time. I just don't have will power any more.

Okie - I'm sure you Mom will be up and running in no time:flower3:

Yeah, we haven't booked any excursions. :( I'm alright with it, I didn't like to have fun on vacations. ;)

Schools fine for me ma!

Back to QuickBasic, my old ball-and-chain.

I second that!!!:thumbsup2 I had a great time walking back & forth to the restroom that night! :sad2: (No wraps from Goofy's Galley for me this year!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Definitely go for the black one!:lmao: Much easier to accessorize, AND more elegant!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Perhaps you can add a couple smaller bags for some poof!:lmao:

Here are a couple pictures:

On one of our days at sea we came across quite a downpour. A bunch of us were way up in the front watching the storm approach (or watching us approach the storm). It was pretty cool! Here are the menacing clouds before the deluge struck. . .

Hi everyone!
thought I'd mention we went to Orient Beach and let the driver pick the actual part of the beach we went to. The Taxi was a van that fit the 8 of us, we agreed on a price before we left town then she drove us to Orient Beach, letting us take pictures on the way... then we decided on a time for her to pick us and an of course she was there and back we went. We went to Kon Tiki area of the beach and the restaraunt had tables with umbrellas in the sand, expensive and the menu was in French but we splurged, then we rented chairs(bargined for a price) and relaxed on the beach. I want to say Sarah and Ken parasailed there, too.
Yes there were naked people but very few and the water and beach were unbelievable!!!!!
You can research the French side of the island and the least naked areas, places to eat, etc. This was just where we ended up by the advice of our taxi lady driver and we are planning a return this year!!!!:cool1:
We are booked on the early Capt. Nautica for St. Thomas, our only excursion and my first one in four cruises. We usually just read the posts and go on our own.
Have a great weekend.... we are in hurricane watch mode- keep an eye out for Wilmington NC on the weather reports, you have two Nanahead families here! Guess I'll be stocking up on the low carb vodka!:scared:
