11-23-2008 DCL per-Thanksgiving 3 night Wonder cruise!!

Gee, life takes over for a couple of weeks and lots of new Disers join our Cruise party! This is going to be so much fun! I have to say a special hello to ILOVEDL who is a fellow WISH team member! :thumbsup2 I will be in the middle of training for the 1/2 marathon in November so if you are looking for me, you might check on the treadmill first. LOL.

On Nassau, I think we are going to stay on the ship. DH & I have been there before. I am sure the kids will just want to play in the Oceaneer's Club.

I already have 2 fish extenders! I would love to do the fish extenders on the cruise with everyone. I was planning to just bring surprises for my girls if no one else wanted to do the fish extender thing. I think it is such a fun idea. I bought my extenders on ebay from 2 separate Disers. Both are fantastic. I also already bought Elizabeth Swann Pirate costumes for my 3 youngest DDs in the Disney Outlet. Too bad they didn't have one big enough for my oldest DD.

We will be staying at the Poly before the cruise and then spending 2 nights at PC after the cruise. In order to get the cheapest airfare, we have to fly home Friday night, but after 10 days at WDW/DCL, I guess we will survive.;)

We are at PC after too. :goodvibes for 2 nights.
I still have been waiting for airfare. still to see what happens when we reach around the 6 month mark. I did talk to a mom who went last year and got tickets from AA-DFW-MCO around Thanksgiving for $228.00 and she said to check around the 6-5 months out mark. So we will see.
What are fish extenders?

fish extenders are a door decoration with 3-4 pockets you hang on your fish outside the door and people from our cruise meets have your room number and sporadically stop by and deliver little gifts in your fish extenders....lke a chrismtmas stocking ...u put things like candy, magnets, pencils, etc. etc...I just did it on my cruise last week and we loved it...we could not wait to see what surprise we had waiting for us.

;)

Hey there! We can try a run together, side by side on a boring treadmill!

I would love to do fish extenders too!

Spaddy, so I don't have to search the threads, when are you coming to Dland town?

I am coming May 2nd. I will PM you my cell phone # so if you are around you can give me a call. I am looking forward to the Food and Wine stuff. I hope it is not too crowded. I am used to California Adventure not being very crowded. I am also hoping there will be a soft opening of the Toy Story Ride (I am not holding my breath for that).

Sunday DCA was definitely more crowded than usual. We didn't to any of the food and wine stuff, but we weren't there for very long. I think the usual strategies of getting there early (and hungry for the F&W) would work.

I reserved a Beach Club Studio today for Friday and Saturday before the cruise. Now all I have to do it talk my DH into going 2 nights early. We agreed we were not going to do DW before because we are afraid of getting too tired. My son gets tired on vacation. 5 days is sort of his maximum vacation time. We will see how he does this next week in CA/LV for 7 days. I want to try SAB so bad.

FYI:

Disney Cruise Line Fuel Surcharge Decision

Due to continually rising fuel prices, Disney Cruise Line® is implementing a fuel surcharge.

The surcharge* is $8 per person, per day for the first two Guests in a stateroom and $3 per day for all other Guests. It is effective for new bookings only made on or after May 28, 2008. Additionally, the surcharge will be capped at $112 each for the first and second Guests in a stateroom and $42 each for all other Guests in the stateroom.

Travel Agents should implement additional procedures to ensure that they disclose the exact amount of the applicable fuel surcharge to Clients before they make a decision to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

Wow! I called at 9:00 this morning - the very first morning that I could book (7 months out) to get a 2 bedroom villa at Animal Kingdom for the 2 nights post cruise. Not only was Animal Kingdom sold out, there was no other 2 bedroom villa in all of WDW!!! :scared1: I attempted to book 2 studios instead, and would you believe that there were NO STUDIOS at all anywhere??!! Apparently, EVERYONE who has Vacation Club likes to come during Thanksgiving and booked 11 months out. I have NEVER had this problem before - not even during Spring Break. So, now we're on the waiting list for a 2 bedroom at either AKV or BCV. To make sure we get something, I booked us at the Dolphin - would rather use points though - hate spending money when I have the points. Crazy!!

Jodie

Jodie, do you still have developer points? I think the developer points are really hurting availablity. I still have a studio booked at SSR for Wed, Thursday, and Friday after the cruise. I don't think I will use it. I want to stay at the Beach Club before the cruise so badly. I hope my flights work out so it can happen.

Disneyfans, I guess the fuel surcharge was a long time coming. I wish I knew when I might want to go on a crusie again. I would book now. I am still not sure if my DH will want to go again.

What are "developer" points?

I know that some of the studios (and I'm assuming 1 and 2 bedrooms as well) are held back for customers paying cash. It stinks for those of us with points who can't use them but see the inventory sitting there ready for someone to pay $$ for it. Oh well - hopefully someone will cancel and I can get my 2 bedroom!!

Jodie

Ok everyone! I finally was able to book the air!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
The price is good and non-stop AA which we love!!!
The times to go and come back are great so we don't have to get up early for either flight and the kids will only miss one day of school since we needed to leave Thur. afternoon to get this deal!!!
Yah!! :cool1: Feel so much better now that this is really all booked!!

Developer points are ones still owned by Disney. They were giving them out as an incentive a while back. It just seemed like there were a lot of points in the system and it was hard to book at 7 months. I am sure a lot of people book at Thanksgiving time just in case and end up cancelling. Here's hoping for a little pixie dust.:wizard:

That is so awesome. I wish Southwest would release their schedule. I keep telling myself if we have to we can drive. With gas prices the way they are that would probably be more expensive.

Do you usually get good prices from SW air? If you live near Austin or Huston you can get very good deals from TX but not from DFW to MCO with SW. :(
But are rates where not to bad that we got so I am happy with that and I agree that I worried that the rates are going to go way up!:scared1:

Ahh, flying feels like such a luxury at this point. We used to fly when visiting WDW, but now we travel so much (probably more than we should). I'm always penny pinching to do as much as we can in a year, so we suck it up and drive - about 12 hours for us. I don't mind the drive down, its the ride back that seems to go on FOREVER - especially with traffic - yuck!!

I guess I've been lucky. Other than Hilton Head, I haven't had any difficulty booking 7 months out. This was a first for me!

Anyone know when the Contemporary Villas are supposed to be done? I initially heard some time in 2009. I can't wait to see how many points will be required to stay there. My guess is LOTS!

I would for sure drive the 12 hours if we could.:)
But flying is always nicer when you can I think.

I don't know when the Cont villas will be done but I bet they are going to be GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bump:)

Hello,

Hope everyone is having a good week!! I just came from Bunco night with the gals and didn't win but that is nothing new.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks:goodvibes

We are having a great time in California. We won the "Grand Family" today at the GCH. We finished the treasure hunt first.

We had a lot of fun in the concierge lounge. I had three glasses of wine (a lot for me). We had a great day today. What a beautiful day.

My son made a lot of friends today. I am hopeful that he will make lots of friends on the cruise.
