Welcome, MeanQueen! I am also very excited about being gone on Thanksgiving.:rotfl: No family to deal with, no cooking, no cleaning the house. Heck, I think we should start cruising every Thanksgiving!:lmao:

If they serve lobster tail and prime rib like they have in the past, then I could see my DH wanting to join in this new tradition also!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one happy to be avoiding family on the holidays.

If they serve lobster tail and prime rib like they have in the past, then I could see my DH wanting to join in this new tradition also!

If that's a choice, I'll have a hard time going with the traditional turkey. Maybe I'll just have a turkey sandwich for lunch, then dig into the lobster(s) at dinner.

The first words out of my dsis mouth when I told her we were cruising over Thanksgiving--- "you mean you get out of dinner with your in-laws?"

Good August 1st morning to all. Got to get off page three! We finally got the computer hooked up in our temporary house this week so I've been catching up on my favorite DIS location! Still trying to sell the house in Florida, but at least we're all back together as a family and getting to know our new Georgia home.

Received great news on Friday, our middle DD now has her spot in the same school as the other two. :woohoo: For some reason the first grade classes just didn't have any turnover in the past two years (yes, all the same kids in both classes since Pre-K), but our prayers were answered and at least that stress is over.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!
Lorie

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!!!

Our party just got bigger. Our friends are joining us. They're a family of 4 with a boy who'll be almost 11 and a girl who will be 9. They're not on the DIS so they won't be joining the posts. We have another family of 5 that may join us. I guess this means it will be next to impossible to get moved to an earlier dining time for my littlest one.

Hi everyone and welcome MeanQueen! My how summer flies - what happened to the lazy days of summer. Sheesh.

Momentum is building again about looking into activity planning and such for the trip - NEXT YEAR! Just can't wait!!

We have friends joining us as well but they don't DIS either. There will be a family of 4 from Chicago (DD 12 & DS 9) and one set of their grandparents. Also a family of 5, friends of ours from home, (DS 10, DD 6, DS 1.5) and probably some of their grandparents too. My parents are also joining us so our group is growing as well!

I'm trying hard not to go overboard with summer cruise wear shopping for next year's trip. Looking forward to hearing out the '07 Turkey Cruise will be so we can prep for our trip.

Take care all.
Megan

Hey all! I haven't been on the DIS for weeks, but I come back and this thread was on page 1!!!

Summer is just out of control. I thought it would get better once swim team was over but we are still running back and forth all the time. Next week I go to Girl Scout camp with my troop and then I think we have two weeks were we don't have a whole lot.

It sounds like all the moves have gone well. Lorie glad that things worked out for your DD.

Susan--Has it stopped raining in your area yet? I swear every night we watch the news there is a big green blob hovering over you.

Hi, Stacie! It actually rained again today! No more flooding though.;) I go back to work Aug. 13th.:sad2: Summer sure has flown by! I do get to do a short trip on the Wonder in September though, so I'm excited about that. We have 24 friends and family members sailing with us, so I can't wait! Take care!

Susan

:scared1: Page 3 again!!:scared1:

Let's get some chattin started!! Those with kiddies...when do your kids go back to school??

My DD9 and DS9 start back August 28th. I have to say I am anxious for them to start! (and not for my usual pull my hair out reasons!!) We have been in MA for almost 2 months now (and LOVIN it!!) and although they have made a few friends in our neighborhood it is limited. They both have transitioned well to this point, but the home sickness is starting to set in. I will be glad when the school routine starts and they are able to make more friends!!
(me too!!:sad1: )

My DD starts 3rd grade on the 21st of August. We're going to WDW this weekend for the Pirate and Princess Party to celebrate her 8th birthday. I am glad school is starting soon for the hair pulling reasons. Though I may realize quickly what a help my older DD has been with her little sister when she's at school.

We started Aug 1st (which was also my big 40). Way too early, Way too hot to be back in school.

My kids start Tuesday Sept 4th. This is the first year they're all in the same school (3rd grade & Kindergarten) - finally! Yeah!

My kids start August 20th, but I (I'm a teacher) go back this Monday the 13th. Ugh!:sad1: Summer went way too fast!!!!

Okay, I have officially hit the "pulling my hair out point" I mentioned in my original post about school starting!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Hi all, definitely putting myself in the hair pulling group! My kids are bouncing off the walls:stitch: We haven't met anyone with young kids here yet, so they only have each other to pick at!!

Everyone starts next week with an orientation/open house on Tuesday, a half day Wednesday, and finally a full day on Thursday. I'm so excited to have all three at one school. A little sad though, the baby is starting Pre-K and the oldest is starting High School. They really do grow up sooooo fast!!

Have a great day!
Lorie

Morning ladies!!
Has anyone out there tried Adventures by Disney?? I am considering a Southwest trip for my family this Spring (you multi-trippers inspired me):goodvibes
Normally we do one bigger trip every year or everyother year (last 3 trips have been Disneyworld, Disneyworld, DisneyCruise!!):earboy2: But I started investigating ABD and they have an Awesome Southwest Splendors trip, which has always been a dream of DH...the kids are off the week of April 20th for spring break and that is a value period for the trip! We went on our first Disney Cruise for my 40th last year and DH's 40th is next September so I thought this would be an awesome early surprise!!
Now being a Disney trip, you know 2 things for sure...first, it will be very well done...and second....it is expensive!!!:scared1: I am just feeling a bit apprehensive about 2 big trips in one year! I can pull the $$ together (I think) we may just have to watch ourselves for awhile!!!
I have the date on hold because the rates for 2008 wont be release until Sept but I can cancell once those rates are released if they go up too much...oh yeah...and I haven't told anyone!! My goal is...if I end up going for it..is to find a creative way to tell them for Christmas!!:santa:

Anyone know anything?????

Hi, Jackie! I also looked in to Adventures by Disney because we are going to Hawaii in March, and I wanted to compare prices. It was thousands of dollars more to do the Disney trip! I just couldn't justify that much more, so we opted not to do it. I'm sure booking any trip with Disney is pretty much guaranteeing a hassle free vacation, but for $3000 plus for Disney's trip, I'm going to take care of the hassles myself.:scared: Good luck deciding and let us know!
