11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Since Friday the weather has been beautiful here. I just wish it could be like this all year round like it is for the most part in Hawaii. Which brings me to my next newbie question - How muggy is it really if one leaves the door open to the verandah? We'd love to be lulled to sleep hearing the waves, but are concerned about getting sticky. If it does get muggy, how long does it take for the room to get comfortable again after closing the door?

I never thought of leaving the door open at night!! Why didn't I think of it....I'll probaby never be on a veranda again! I say try it the first night and see how it goes. It doesn't hurt.

Teresa....I thought I was being a grown up and made a grown up decision to clean the closet. It looks beautiful now and I can actually see the floor.

Did any of you see the repo thread? You have to check out the first page. There are some organized (ahhmmm...anal...) people there!! I love it!!

Can you come over and clean my closet, I can't see my floor.

I'm working on it, in between laundry, cleaning the house, school stuff, softball games, etc. :rotfl2:

Maybe you should try Michael and Cathe's laundry system. That might help!:laundy: (I've always wanted to use that smilie and I can't believe I figured out a way to do that!!!!:woohoo: Go me!!!

Can someone out there please tell me if there is still a sun in the sky? :sunny: We're starting to doubt it's exsistence.

Suzy--Do all closets have floors? I'm pretty sure mine doesn't, you have to be careful where you step, the piles of "stuff" might just swallow you up.

Stacie...my dh's closet has a floor. But it's comforting to know that I'm not alone!! It seems that my closet floor is the recipient of the scattered junk the accumulates around the house that needs a quick home when the cleaning lady comes!! Plus...if the piles that grow in the kitchen start to itch my husband too much that's their new home as well!!

Closet? What's that? I don't even have a real closet - I have one of those temporary/portable thingys. I dream of a walk-in closet of my own that I can wonder where it's floors are. :rotfl:

Morning all! Just getting caught up !

You all are cracking me up! But let me tell you....not only do my closets not have floors....but my rooms floors have vanished! We have boxes and cra...stuff everywhere and we dont move for 6 more weeks!

Looking forward to getting settled in MA so I can refocus my attention to the important things........like this thread!!!:goodvibes

Our community had their annual Spring sale today. We set out most of the cloths the kids out grew this year, plus some shoes, toys, computer equipment, kitchen items, and a few items of furniture.

We priced everything extremely low just to get rid of them (i.e. all clothing 50cents or fill a paper bag for $4.) We had tons of cloths, especially jeans (at least 9-10 lawn bags full). Whatever didn't sell (which wasn't much) went off to a local charity. All warm weather cloths went to a church to take on their upcoming mission to Brazil to give to the families in need there.

While we had tons of stuff go and finally clear out of the house, sadly we still have tons that could/should be cleared. However, we have found a way to encourage the kids not to hold onto items they have long outgrown - we informed them that all the yard sales we have between now and the cruise we are going to split 50% for the parents and 10% to each kid. All the money is to be saved for the cruise.

It's spring and the yard sales have sprung. I was at DS's high school before 0700 this morning for the band yard sale. Last month the youth group had a rummage sale to help fund their trip to the National Youth Gathering in July. Actually, now that I think of it, today was the 4th yard sale I've had to donate to because of DSs activities since school started in the fall. It's a good way to purge the closets, but if this keeps up ...... I'll just have to go shopping!!!:scared1: I've already started thinking about the new clothes I'll need to buy for the cruise. Maybe I should start this fall so it doesn't hit the budget all at once. I wonder if DH would buy that excuse?

I hope you made out well at your yard sale. We can't give hubby any ideas on how to raise money for this cruise. I'm sure I'd come home one day and find my entire craft area sitting on the front yard!!! Cha ching!!!!

GotDisney?---Hope you're feeling better. We have to stop cleaning closets and getting sick on these beautiful days!!!

Just wanted to say so long for now. I'm heading down to Georgia to speak on a panel at a symposium. go to www.fafonline.org to see more info on it. I'm so excited and appreciative of the opportunity I've been given. (See my 11/06trip report for more info)

"See" you real soon!!!

Have a safe trip. You should be very proud of yourself, not everybody could do what you are going to do.
