Susan - Your family is definitely in my prayers. I bet your DS and your little newphew feels pretty bad about your DD. :guilty: I hope they take care of her ASAP. :grouphug:

Did the police indicate any charges would be filed or did they just make an incident report?

 Susan ~ OMG, I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter. I hope they're able to get the BB out soon and she feels better and heals quickly. :sad1:

Again, thank you to everyone for your comments. I hadn't even thought about being held criminally responsible. I've already talked to the police, so I guess if it comes to that, so be it. Just something else for me to worry about.:sad2:

We just returned from the hospital in Olathe and saw an ear, nose, and throat specialist. They did a cat scan of her sinuses. She will have surgery next Friday. There is a small fragment of bone that needs to be removed and they are hoping they can make a small incision through the nose to get the bb out. If not, they will have to schedule another surgery and will make an incision above her lip to get to the bb. The doctor said the chances of that are slim, but he wanted us to be aware. Her recovery will be for several days. They said the pain from the surgery can be sort of rough. We'll follow up with the doctor on the Monday afterwards to see how everything has gone.

I'll keep you all posted. On a positive note, Brianna is feeling quite a bit better. She's just swollen. It only hurts if she smiles or eats. But, she's much better than she was last night. She got LOTS of attention at the hospital today. They hadn't seen anything quite like this before. We're always famous for having those things that never happen to anyone happen to us.;)

Talk to everyone soon.

Susan

It stinks that the parents involved in a true accident would have to worry about this. WHen I grew up, I accidently shot my brother with a BB gun. As punishment, he got to shoot me. Chuck, it is very kind of you to offer this, it just stinks that in this moment of their desperation seeking medical attention, that trying to keep out of jail even has to come in to play.

When I was 12 my neighbor shot me in the a** 2 times with a bb gun. He was a nasty "Sid" kind of kid. I was so embarassed by the whole thing I never told my parents. It hurt but never went through my pants or skin.
Ken, where'd your brother shoot you?
Chuck - It is very thoughtful of you to offer legal advice. I would have never thought about charges, and would have just gone on thinking it was an accident. I hope and pray it will be seen as that and no one will be charged.

Just know that we all will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. I hope Brianna feels 100% real soon and that the worst is over.

Susan

I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing better today. That is so scarey. I'm glad to hear you got a Dr you're comfortable with and that surgery is scheduled.

When we were young, my brother shot a bb gun at a tv. It shattered the whole screen. He was a complete terror.

Also, I can't wait to see your dh's Who cut the cheese shirt. Maybe he should wear it to MVMCP. I'd certainly be able to pick him out of the crowds!

This week, I have completed my online paperwork, bought new pj's for myself and received the documents for our hotel prior to the cruise. I can't wait to get those DCL documents from the UPS man!

Judy, you crack me up everyday. I'll bring you a tiara if you need to give your dh a little push in the right direction. ;0) You're right about the Irish; they sure know how to have a good time. Love your friends last names.... no one will mistake them for Italians, ha ha. Can't wait for the parties on your secret deck 7. I love that deck. When we did our vow renewal two years ago, we were supposed to be out there. However, it ended up being very windy, so everything moved inside.

Yesterday, I got a call that ds was sick so I ran to school to pick him up. While waiting, I noticed that the PTO was having an assembly next week. The group performing is Primary Focus and the theme....drum roll please... MAKE GOOD CHOICES. I was laughing out loud. The secretary thought I was talking to my imaginary friend, or having a bi polar moment.

The kids are off for a sleepover with my parents tonight. Our anniversary is Sunday and to celebrate, we're going to donate platelets tomorrow. Strange I know, but it's a bonding thing. I go often but this is dh's first time. Hope he doesn't cry like a baby.

Have a good week end everyone.

Actually I was kidding. My dad did end up throwing all of our BB guns and skateboards into the river behind our house. He was NOT happy. The next morning after Dad went to work, we jumped into the river and retrieved everything. That made him even more unhappy. Its tough being a kid.

On another note . . . Shouldn't we be getting a big thick envelope from DCL soon??

Susan...BIG hugs and loads of pixie dust to your family. I hope everything works out....

Shell - Their first names are John, Briege, Alton and Seaorsia Aidan, Kathy and Conor. Pretty Irish, eh? And the drunker they get the harder it is to understand the brogue! Linda and I are having lunch with Kathy and Briege tomorrow. We're going to a Spanish restaurant where the waiters are Latin and Hot, Hot, Hot! (Or so I've been told!)

Ken - You and your brother must have been crazy! Jumping into the river! And yeah, we should be getting our DCL documents soon..... Can't wait!
On my way to get groceries. We have nothing here to eat except stale bread, potato chips and diet Pepsi!

Almost forgot, Shell, where did you end up having your vow renewal?

Hi, everyone! The doctor called today and moved Brianna's surgery up to Tuesday. She'll have to miss school most of next week and will have a follow up appointment on the following Monday to get the stints out of her nose. I'll just be so glad when this is all over with! They did tell me that she would more than likely be in quite a bit of pain for atleast a few days. I hate that and just wish I could make it all go away.

When everyone was mentioning the legal side of things, it never dawned on me that my best friend works for the county attorney. She called, and they will not be filing any charges against us. They said when it involves a four year old and a bb gun that it's pretty obvious it was an accident. I was relieved to hear that and was also so happy that I had a friend who just so happens to work in the county attorney's office.;)

On another, happier note, I would think we will get our docs some time this week as well. I should be home most of the week to be with Brianna. I plan to take off Tuesday for the surgery as well as Wednesday and will just wait and see how everything is going for Thursday and Friday but more than likely will be home with her.

Susan, all in all, thats great news. It really stinks that you (and especially Brianna) have to go through this, but it sounds like the prognosis is good. :)

We will all be thinking about you guys and waiting till November 22nd!

Susan - Wonderful news! I'm glad they moved the surgery up. Just get it over so she can get on with healing and recovery. Tell her she'll be as good as new by cruise time and to keep an eye out for the DCL cruise packet! Also tell her I'm proud of her - She's making good choices!:dance3: :sunny:

We have good news here too. Ian has a black long haired cat named George Gordan Meade and he's been missing since last Saturday. I made signs and we were going to put them on telephone poles tonight. Ian called me at work this afternoon and said George was sitting on the dining room windowsill when he got home from school. He came home! I don't know where he was but he didn't lose an ounce and it looks like he's been groomed.:cat: He hasn't left Ian's side all night. He hates other cats and loves dogs. He also pees in the toilet. He's quite a character! I was getting worried because he is black and it's so close to Halloween. Ian adores him and would be devastated if anything happened to him.

Going to bed - Ian has a dentist appt  :teeth: in the morning and then lunch with the girls and the hot Spaniards! Yeee Haaa! :yay:

Susan, I'm glad that they're moving her surgery up. A week seemed so long to wait, plus being 1-2 days post op on the week ends is hard if you have any questions or complications. I'm sure she'll do well. Kids are pretty tough. My ds had surgery in Aug and he did remarkably well considering what a drama queen he is. I only had to dose him up with narcotics 2-3 times. He had a harder time clearing the drugs from his system in post op. He was screaming and thrashing, but that is pretty common in kids.

Judy, I forgot to tell you that I make the pillowcases just by finding clip art I like, and then printing it out on t-shirt transfer paper that I got at ACMoore or Michaels. I iron them onto the pillowcase and that's it. I add text to personalize it but it's nothing fancy. Wish I had Michelle's talent to sew!

Your friends sound like a blast. We're an Irish family too! DS's middle name is Connor... a family members sir name that has gone through the generations as a middle name for many. One of the other kids that came over was named Bronah (not sure if it's spelled right but it's pronounced Bro Nah). I had the hardest time remembering how to pronouce it. Wish I were joining you for lunch tomorrow. I love latin food and well, hot waiters too! LOL. We had our vow renewal in Diversions, I think. It was closed for our party. They took the kids and I through the back way, as a tequilla tasting was taking place. Then my mother met me at the door with Minnie bride ears, thinking I would actually wear them. Ha! Not after paying $40 to have my hair done.

Ken, sounds like you have some of Judy's ODD. You must have given your parents a run for their money.

Each Dec, we have an elf that joins us for the Christmas season. He shows up in unexpected ways (in the mail, sitting in a rocker on the front porch, via parachute stuck in the tree). I'm planning to bring him and a friend on the cruise and have them show up sometime during the week. Any suggestions? They are just little 10" stuffed dolls, but the kids believe they come to life each night and create all sorts of mischief. We have woken up to Elf jokes written on the windows/mirrors (with window markers), a zip line tied to the Christmas tree, underpants decorating the Christmas tree, etc. Sometimes little gifts may be left or if there has been some naughty behavior on the part of my kids, a report is made for the big guy. On Christmas Eve, the kids say goodbye since their elf will go back to the North Pole with Santa. I'm just trying to come up with some fresh ideas.

Thanks,
Shell

We are a three cat family and can completely understand loosing one. The year before DD was born, we had one of our cats come up missing. We think it was coyotes:eek: , and we were heartbroken.:sad2: I think you have given us all another reason to celebrate!!

First round is on Judy!!:drinking1

I love the elf idea! What wonderful memories and a great tradition! I'll try to think of some ideas. (maybe have a waiter deliver him to the table under a serving dome, have a cabin person incorporate him into a towel animal).

We had our renewal in the Cadillac Lounge. And I wore the white sequined ears! We tried to get a Mickey ear top hat for Tim but his head is too big and it wouldn't fit! That's ok. We were truly goofy looking with out them!

Our friends were upset with us when Ian was born because we didn't spell his name Eio'n which is the Gaelic spelling. They also suggested we name him Feirfig. I don't think so! I wanted to name him James Ewell Brown Stuart Hickey (Jeb) but that didn't fly either!
The transfers for the pillowcases is a great idea. I can do that. I'm going to buy more transfer paper tomorrow and look for clip art. Thanks for the suggestion!

Susan,
Glad that your daughter is doing better and even better that the police will not be filing any charges. I hope she will be all recovered for her vacation so she can relax and enjoy herself.

For those that have not see in yet I thought HSM3 was very good considering the type of movie it iis. The dance numbers were pretty incredible. And you can tell they are leaving the door open for the "next HSM class"

That's wonderful news, Susan! :goodvibes

Judy - I didn't know your cat was missing. So happy to see he came home. :thumbsup2

I'm having my Disney fix this weekend. Just got back from Disney on Ice. Wonderful costumes and music. On Sunday DD is having an early b'day party because she turns 8 during the cruise. We are taking a few friends to HSM3 then cake and presents.
We did the elf thing last year too. A couple of times we found them under the tree trying to open presents. We found them in the fridge eating snacks. They threw my DS socks all over his room. I'll have to work on the zip line for this year.
