I just filled out the online paper work. I can sign it and take it, I don't have to sign it in front of them do I?

On three different occasions I have seen people turned away from Palo and one of the times I saw a huge fight between a husband and wife. All she wanted for her vacation was a nice dinner at Palo. He absolutely refused to put on a nice pair of pants let alone a tie.

I will say it all depends on the management. In 2005 our enitre group wore nice shorts outfits to Palo High Tea. Last March my dad and I had shorts on. Mine were partt of a pretty nice outfit and they said sorry you cannot come to high tea in anything that resembles shorts.

I for one agree I will wear whatever they tell me for the filet and souffle.

I do wish they would enforce the dining room dresscode a bit more. I just think if you want to wear jean shorts and a T-shirt then go to Topsiders.

I've read all about the dress code debates on the DIS. I've never personally seen anyone turned away, but I'm sure it does happen. We always dress nice--even to our regular dining rotational dinners, but I don't get too worked up about what other people wear. I've read lots of posts detailing what other people have worn to dinner, and I just don't get that. When I'm on vacation, it's all about my family and me. I can honestly say I've never noticed what anyone else was wearing. So, you all can come naked and I might not even notice.:lmao:

No, you don't have to sign it in front of them. Just bring it with you or else it slows down the check in process at the port.

Actually Palo is pretty strict about its no jeans, no shorts and otherwise dress appropriately policy, just in case anyone reading this has not actually been there, but the chocolate soufle makes the trip worthwhile no matter what, or at least that is what my wife says since I dont eat that item.

The flip flops to Palos was a bit of a joke. I am prone to that on occasion.

Trust me. You'd notice if I came naked!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, you should dress nice for dinner. Especially Palo. Rules are there for a reason. Order must be kept. Don't use me as an example. I was wrong and should never have been as defiant as I was. Oppositional Defiant Disorder(ODD). If they had had that label when I was a child it would have been tattooed on my forehead. :teacher: Teachers hated me. My parents couldn't stand me. When I grew up I slowly learned how to behave. But even as an adult I sometimes have relapses. I'm trying though. And that's the best I can do.:sad2: :sad1:

Well...we might notice that! I tend to agree with you- we like making dinner special or we would have stayed at home and ate leftovers. Our DD's like to dress up and feel grown up at dinner so we all dress up and make an event out of it. It doesn't really bother me what others where but if they are going to set guidelines then they should stick to them.

Oh i know plenty of people were joking about flip-flops, but I was just commenting b/c some people may actually take those comments seriously...there is a big gap on these boats between the people who have cruised multiple times and those who are cruising for the first time in terms of knowing how things really work on these boats which tend to operate somewhat differently than other boats...after all it IS Disney...To think what I know now compared to the first time we cruised in terms of the little things that make a great cruise even better makes me realize that I am fortunate...b/c i aked plenty of the questions i now answer back then.

I've had a very difficult night. However, not quite as difficult as my DD.:sad1: She was shot in the face tonight with a bb gun. It penetrated through her cheek and stopped in her sinuses right next to her nose. They feel it fractured some bone. We will have to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist to find out when we'll do surgery to get it removed. I want it out NOW! However, they say the swelling has to go down first.

They stitched the entry place where the bb went in and now her nose won't stop bleeding. It's very scary. I'll probably be awake all night worrying about her. I'll be on the phone first thing in the a.m. to demand to be seen at the e.n.t.'s office. I'm not sure I trust our local hospital. They said they've never seen anything like this before.

To make things even worse, a police report had to be filed since it involved a gun. To make a long story short, my DS has two bb guns that he shoots on the farm. He was in trouble for accidentally shooting a glass jar that is attached to our milk tank (we're dairy farmers). So, he loaded his guns and apparently pumped them but then got stopped in his tracks when he was told about the milk jar. We told him he was grounded from his guns. I thought he took them back out to our garage, but he didn't. He left them on his bed in his room. My four year old niece and nephew came out, and while they were in his room playing with my daughter, my nephew picked up the gun and it went off. My DD didn't even know what had really happened but knew that there was blood everywhere. She began to scream and ran through the house to me.

I'm pretty freaked out about the whole thing. It penetrated pretty close to her ear just below her eye. It traveled over three inches before stopping right next to her nose. I keep thinking of what could have happened. I don't know what the future will hold as far as surgeries, etc., but I'm just so thankful she's alive and will be okay.

So, if you say prayers, I'd love to have some said for my daughter. She's in a lot of pain, and we don't know what is going to happen in the near future. All we do know is that we've been reminded tonight how things can change in a heartbeat, and we're counting our many blessings.:grouphug:

DON'T WAIT!!!!

If you don't get any results this morning, Get her to another hospital. Often times, there is a 12-24 hour window for removing BB's, bullets and such. Also, you are dealing with her face and there could be problems develop with the sinuses, and issues with scaring and plastic surgery.

If you don't trust you local hospital, take her to a larger hospital, just make sure and get copies of x-rays and ER records to take with you. That can speed up the process and save time and money from having the x-rays repeated. You're dealing with a face/head issue. DON"T WAIT, PLEASE.

I did ER nursing for 7 years and left to do Mother-baby. The stress got to me.

Keep us posted and she'll be in our prayers.

Lora

Oh no! Absolutely I will keep your DD and family in my thoughts and prayers. Definitely keep us posted.

Susan,
Our thoughts are with you and your family. I think Lora gave you some great advice. I hope you find a hospital you are comfortable with. Let us know how everyone is doing when you have time.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and pixie dust. I've been on the phone this morning trying to get something going. Brianna did pretty good last night. She's very swollen, but she's not black and blue like they said she might be. I'm hoping the nose bleed has stopped.

My DH and I want the BB out as soon as possible. Of course, since she doesn't have an ear, nose, and throat doctor, no one could call us this morning when I called their 1-800 number. However, their office opens at 8:00, and they advised me to call first thing so that they could either set up the surgery for today or atleast see her so I can sleep at night.

Lora--thank you for the advice, and I do think you're right. I will call until I find someone that will see her and possible get that bb removed today. We told Brianna not to eat anything until we figure something out. We never dreamed a boy's bb gun would have the power to do what Brandon's did. I was shot by a bb gun as a child and although it hurt like he**, it didn't penetrate the skin. This one traveled a little over three inches!

My biggest concern is that the bb might move. The doctor last night said he couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't but that he didn't think it would. He also said he'd never seen anything like this. I just didn't feel too good about it. I do know they may need to wait for swelling to go down, but based on what Lora has said, I would like it out as soon as possible.

I'll keep everyone posted if I can today. DD is in the bath now, I'm waiting for 8:00 to get here, and then I'm hoping to be on the road to somewhere.

Have a good day.

Susan

Susan,

My god! I cant imagine how you feel. I clipped my DDs fingernail too close one time and drew blood. She did not even cry, but I felt HORRIBLE. Our prayers are with you.

On the legal side of things, I would strongly suggest consulting with a local attorney, and I can probably find you one btw if needed, before making police reports....some states have laws, and I cannot speak for Kansas, that could hold the parents responsible for this type of accidental shooting...thus I strongly suggest not making statements that could potentially be held against you in a Court of law (ie Miranda Warnings) without speaking to a criminal defense attorney who is licensed in your state.

You can email me separately if you like - it goes to my ever present Blackberry.

As hard as it is to think of now, that is good advice. While you may not feel the need to report it to police, medical personnel might and you want to make sure you are protected. You guys have already been hurt hard enough by this accident, you don't want to get hurt anymore from it legally.

Susan, OMG I am so sorry your family is going through a very scary time. Your poor DD will get through this and all will be fine. I hope her pain has subsided some.
I bet your son is feeling really bad and what about the little one that accidental did it. Oh they must be so worried. As you all are.
My prayers are with you all. I hope they are able to remove it today.

It stinks that the parents involved in a true accident would have to worry about this. WHen I grew up, I accidently shot my brother with a BB gun. As punishment, he got to shoot me. Chuck, it is very kind of you to offer this, it just stinks that in this moment of their desperation seeking medical attention, that trying to keep out of jail even has to come in to play.

I agree that my message may be tough to accept..It is just that it also may be true, depending on what the law in Kansas may be. However, as a former prosecutor, I would be remiss in not suggesting that they seek legal advice prior to making what could ultimately be construed as incriminating statements thereby making an unfortunate situation more unfortunate.
