11/17/12 It's a Magical TEXAS Thanksgiving with the Mouse!

Actually I do disign. If I ever get done with my requests on the cruise magnets and graphics I'll see if I can come up with something for the pirates and Mickey and turkeys cruise...

Would love to see these! umm... do you ever get caught up and 'done'?? :)

Is anyone thinking some of these will have GTY rooms pop closer to sail?
Not our sailing, but the non-holidays.
I'm even wondering about in state promos...maybe me and DH could get a sitter for one of those.

Hi, my name's Lori and I'm a cruise addict.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some last-minute discounts (OGT/VGT) on any of the Springtime cruises out of Galveston, especially those in May!! :thumbsup2

Are we going to try to plan a Pre-Cruise Meet for those in Texas? Where would y'all like to meet? I know there are quite a few of us in the Houston area. Maybe we could have a picnic under one of the new billboards for the Disney Magic?? :rotfl:

Seriously, maybe a meet over Spring Break or should we wait for Summer?

Let me know what y'all think!

That is a clever idea. I can't over Spring Break though, as we are heading to WDW.

Anyone thinking of a field trip to Galveston when the Magic arrives? I guess I've not looked to see what day of the week it will come. . .the CCL Magic had a welcoming party w/Maroon 5.

I like that idea! I'll find out what day she is scheduled to arrive in Galveston, and what day of the week it is. We were going to drive down to see her arrive anyway.

Enjoy Spring Break at WDW. This is the first year in several years we will not be there at Spring Break. I just started a new job and cannot take the time off. Say "hi" to Mickey for us!!

That sounds like a fun adventure - going to greet the Magic and give her a good old fashioned Texas welcome. :)

My DDs do not know about this cruise - it is their birthday present. I'm thinking I could tell them we are just going to watch the ship come in - no suitcases, so they shouldn't connect any dots to a cruise.

I will be sure to tell Mickey hi for you. This is our first Spring Break trip. As our daugthers' birthday is in November, we have always scheduled our trips around then. I'm looking forward to seeing the flower & garden show - but will miss seeing the Christmas decorations.

The Magic's first cruise out of Galveston is Sept 22, which is a Saturday. She completes her last cruise out of NY on Sept 17, which gives her 5 days to get to Galveston. I would think DCL would want to get her here by Friday, since it is a new port and all, but I don't know if its physically possible for her to travel that far in 4 days. I guess without stops it might be. I can't get down there Friday, but I can do Sat, 9/22.

So, do you think Sat morning or Sat afternoon shortly before she sails would be better? I really think I'd like to see her sail, and wave to all the lucky people on that cruise, but I'm flexible. Maybe we could meet for a late lunch, and then head to the pier around 3? (assuming a 4 pm departure - I'll have to double check that.) How does this work for everyone??

Thanks!

I work 9/80s - and that Friday is actually my Friday off. However, I think getting to wave as people leave sounds like a heck of a lot of fun.

Has anyone ever cruised out of Galveston before to be able to guide on where to park/lunch, etc. to see the Magic off? We have only cruised out of Miami/Seattle so far - so this is new to us. We have been to Galveston for long weekends, but never for a cruise. :) Looking very forward to changing that. :thumbsup2

Well the billboard of the DCL Magic I use to pass on my way home each day is gone. :( I have to say it did make me smile seeing it each day. .as I slowly crawled out 290. So I'm bummed it's gone.

I've got one cruise before this one - but it's pretty much all set. . .so now I'm looking at this one. Something to stay busy with. :) Anyone have thoughts of a group name, etc. yet? Has anyone been to Costa Maya before and have a suggestion on is a fun family outing? We have been to Grand Cayman & Cozumel before - so have an idea of things we want to do in those ports. . . .

I'm really looking forward to this cruise. One of my DDs questioned me if Tigger :tigger: could be real or not on our Spring Break trip. . .so I'm glad we are doing the Disney cruise this year, hopefully before any more doubts regarding characters and/or Santa come up.

Have a magical day ya'll.

Lorelei - those are all wonderful!! I am always so impressed with how creative people can be. Very nice.

Just found this site this morning. We are so excited to be joining all of you on our first Disney Cruise! Myself, DH, DD (9), and DS (will be 6). Also traveling with some friends and their DD (7) and DS (5).
I just found out from another friend about the fish extenders, and we'll definitely be participating in that! Apparently we need to sign up somewhere, so that the participants know how many gifts to bring?? Anyhow, we are very excited and are counting the days until we sail away with Mickey!

:welcome:

I love seeing children in the same age range as mine. My DDs will turn 9 by the time this cruise rolls around. It is our first DCL cruise as well and I'm pretty excited.

If you've not see it yet, Dagny was gracious to volunteer to organize the FE exchange. I'm copy/pasting the post for you.

All: I am going to be setting up the FE exchange information on google docs. For those participating, can you pretty please send me a PM with the following information :)

DIS Name
First Names of everyone in your travel party
Ages of any corresponding kiddos
Cabin Number
Favorite Disney Character

Additionally, I made name tags for all the DISers on my last cruise so we could easily identify each other. I am happy to do so again.

If you would like a name tag and are not participating in the FE exchange, please PM me the following:

First Names of people you would like a name tag for and your cabin number.

Thanks everyone!!! Time will not go by quick enough!

I tried to PM Dangy, but since I'm so new, it won't allow me to! So, I'll be posting a few more times to get to the required 10 posts so that I can pm her :)

My DS turns 6 in September, so there'll be plenty of boys in that age range.

Question of the day:
What's your Disney vacation history?

Well I started with a trip to Disneyland when my parents moved to the valley in CA in fourth grade. After that year, we went to WDW nearly every year through college both as our family and as a larger family reunion (all of my mom's side relatives).
After college, Ben and I honeymooned at WDW and then went through a young/broke phase (no Disney :sad2:)
For the tenth anniversary of our first date (a little before our seventh wedding anniversary) we decided to try out DCL, sans kids.
And LOVED it.
So now that we're no longer broke, we've got a couple DCL trips lined up, this time with the kiddos. I suppose they might possibly want to come too...
:goodvibes
And you can't beat the airfare, given that Disney is coming to our backyard!

Question of the day:
What's your Disney vacation history?

I was born in California. So I grew up with day trips to Disney Land.

We lived in Tampa when Disney World opened, I was 8. I still smile when I remember this, as we were watching cartoons and my father said he had a surprise for us - we protested not wanting to sacrafice the one day a week you could watch cartoons. :) He took us to Disney World. It was worth it. :D

We moved to Pensacola, and went to Disney World one more time before moving to Hawaii. When my father retired from the Navy he moved us from Hawaii back to Pensacola, but took us to Disney World before we settled in. I remember he got these special passes where you could ride all the rides as many times as you wanted - no ticket coupon books. I thought that was pretty cool, as it was always a bummer to run out of the "A" tickets back then. My last trip there as a teenager was 1979.

In 1984 I took my oldest DD to Disney Land.

I remarried and my DH & I had a set of twins late in life. In 2008 someone I know mentioned Disney World and I wanted to take my twins for their 5th birthday - seemed a great way to celebrate. I was overwhelmed with how much it changed in 30ish years. LOL. The addition of Epcot, DHS, AK. It was no longer a day trip kinda thing.

We have been back to Disney World in 2009, 2010 & 2012. Our next trip is tentative scheduled for our twins 10th birthday in 2013.

This will be our first cruise with DCL.

Question of the day:
What's your Disney vacation history?

Well, my history is growing up my parents thought the only vacation to take was to WDW so from 1st grade until my 1st year in college we went a total of 5 times. Somewhere in there we also took a trip out to California to visit relatives and went to DL. My DH never vacationed growing up. Their vacations were visiting family in another state. His first trip to WDW was in 2005.

After I got married we didn't go back to WDW until in 2005 when my DD was 5. Since then we have gone in 2006 for 1 day and then took a cruise on the Wonder for 4 days (our first cruise ever), 2007 for a week at WDW, 2009 Wonder cruise for 4 days and 3 days at WDW, 2009 June WDW, 2010 March WDW, 2011 Magic cruise March, 2011 DL trip first one I can really remember..., 2011 Oct. WDW, 2012 March DL again, and then this cruise...

If you couldn't tell we've become quite addicted...:lovestruc:confused3:lmao:
