I thought the same thing about the pools being on the roof of Bay Lake Tower. But my daughter reminded me that the tower is hoseshoe shaped and the Mickey shaped pool is actually on the ground within the curve. But can you believe the window/screen up on the top floor? The monorails are between the glass, but you are still able to enjoy the view. Fantastic! Alas, it will be a couple of years before we get to stay there. Our home resort is SS. I love it, but it is not BLT. :dance3:

It is a beautiful morning in Texas! Y'all have a good day!

Hey, folks, long time no post...

We booked this trip last December on board and all but FORGOT about it until today when I had to send the payment in LOL :rolleyes1

Anyway, that's done, flights are booked and boy howdy, do I need a vacation!

See you in November...

Jeff

Glad y'all are sailing with us!!!!

Good morning All..... counting the days till We set foot on the ship...:laundy:
Its hard to keep my mind on work and things around the house... suitcase is out and passports are in  Starting to shop.... Elderfam sent tags for my bags they are AWSOME:cheer2:
Any ideas that may be nice for my husband... he's a ships captain and has never been on a ship when he's not incharge. Hopefully he can enjoy someone else stearing the ship!!!!

Way to go Fivepin! So glad to hear that you beat the 75 day deadline AND got the same rooms. It's too bad more of our cruise-mates can't take advantage of these rates, as they almost seem affordable :rotfl:. I'm sure the savings take the sting out of losing the OBC for booking onboard.

Now that I know these rates come out about 3 months prior (for SOME sailings), I doubt I'll EVER wait 15 months for another crack at Mickey like we did this time (even for a DD).

Thanks-this is only the second time I have been able to get the discount. Last Double Dip we paid full fare.

Weird thing I just don't get is 2 visits to Castaway should be an immediate sellout. That's the best stop on the DCL that they offer.
I know, as a DVC member that was a big thing for member cruises.
Maybe before Turkey Day:3dglasses

But, IM happy for all that got their discounts.

We r gonna have a blast regardless:cool1::banana::dance3::cheer2:

Yes, we are going to have an absolute blast. It does make me a little jealous of the discounts - I am happy for you. Since we own DVC - doesn't that make me sort of a resident???

I'm jealous I'm not a DVC member. We have a time share right outside of Disney. We purchased in 1998. Back then couldn't do DVC. You think you guys would get some sort of discount. We all are going to have a fantastic time.

Mom finished our FE tonight!!!

That looks great. I wish I could sew.

I just wanted to apologize if my post offended anybody. I lost a lot of sleep last night thinking that I started something that I certainly had no intention to.
I would never begrudge anyone for getting a better deal than us. That is wonderful. If we could, we would try to rebook and try,but circumstances do not allow us too.
To those who got discounts, Congrats. You certainly let us all know that we should try too. Just like when the airfares went on sale. Thank You for sharing the info.
As for DCL and its policies, I personally think they are the best cruise line out there.

As for the cruise, I only meant that it was surprising that a double castaway was not a complete sellout was pretty amazing.
I would kill to spend all 7 days their, not literally kill!!

We do thank the Lord that in these troubled times, we can do this. My heart goes out to those who have lost jobs, homes and any other losses.
I know my DW's company has gone through at least 5 rounds of layoffs.
She never knows from day to day, if sh's next. I know a lot of people are in that same exact position and it really stinks.

So please accept my sincerest apology if I did in fact offend or imply or do anything that might have upset all our good friends on these boards.

Sincerely,
xxcell/Kev:sad1:

No need for apologies. There was nothing offensive in your posts. I'm sorry if I came across as if I was bragging. so enough of the apologies, and lets have some partying.

Good Morning, Everybody! Early shift, checking in! I am SO excited - Only two more months - well, and a few days. Mickey never comes to NY State. Probably because he'd freeze his tail off. It's 57 here this morning.

Good morning all - it was a chilly 46 here this morning but the sun is starting to peak though and we aer supposed to get up to about 70. Chilly, rainy weekend coming though. Oh what fun that will be.

Have a great day everyone - TGIF!

So, I won't tell you what type of weather we have been having then? :)

Totally :offtopic: but.....

today is my 3 year anniversary of quitting smoking!!!!

Congratulations that is a big achievement!!

Came across this article today which I thought you may like:

Which got me to thinking...... As much as I'm longing to dip my toes in the surf at Serenity Bay, I know King Charming's Irish heritage (and skin) ain't gonna take to being in the sun that long. Mine won't fare much better, that's for sure. So now I'm wondering about a cabana rental. I checked the DCL website and didn't see where I could schedule a cabana right now. Maybe a massage but not just a cabana. Anyone know if this is possible or if they even have them? And if so, anyone wanna go in together on renting one over at Serenity Bay for the first day we're there? If we can get enough of us in there maybe it'd lessen the price to something do-able.

Those cabanas sound great. Can't wait for next summer. Usually I'm one of the first ones off to run to serenity bay as DH takes kids to get checked into the program. I go and save a couple of chairs or hammock with an umbrella to stay out of the sun. We enjoy a couple of drinks and lunch (yummy steak sandwiches) and then pick up the kids to go to the family beach. This time we'll spend the first stop with the kids and the last stop is just for us.:cool1:

Do we have a fav drink poll???

Mine is Rum Runner
Irish Belle is Bahama Mama

8AM and thinking about refreshments:cool1::cool1:pirate::woohoo:

I love the Konk Koolers that are on CC - the ones served at the bar by the family beach are the absolulte best! David drinks whatever the drink of the day is but since I am not so in to bananas and pineapple juice, it is more difficult for me to drink those. I do like 'Fun on the beach' as Disney calls it - or anything with peach schnapps in it.

I like the rum runners and bahama mama as well. I also like the chocolate martinis. Can you believe I have never had a Konk Kooler and on the spreadsheet I see several who like them. I guess I know what I'm trying this time.
So how did it go everyone? Did you get most of what you wanted last night?

I'm heading to Orlando today and from this point forward won't be able to check the thread but in the morning and in the evenings. If you need something right away, send it to my email address and I'll try to remember to check that on my phone at lunchtime. I have to make myself go cold turkey on the checking of the thread or otherwise I'd be on it all day long (I'm addicted to y'all!) and I don't think my new boss would like that very much at all.

Okay, enough of my rambling. This isn't getting me on the road, is it? :scared1:

Hope you had safe travels and hope the job is going well.

I'll have to let Dale know that. He is big into video games of any sort (we have a PS2, Wii and computer) and has turned into a HUGE baseball fan. In fact he was just in your neck of the woods. DW took the kids on a 3-week vacation, which included visiting her aunt and uncle in Birch Bay, WA. She took DS on the Amtrak train into Seattle and the two of them went to a Mariners game (and I am sooooo jealous).

And it looks like our daughters are the same age as well. Sarah will be 8 at cruise time, and Dale will be 11.

John

We have a Wii, XBox, DS, and computer. Does Dale like Pokemon? Both my girls are huge fans.

What a neat trip for them. I hope they enjoyed Safeco Field - it truly is one of the best baseball stadiums in the country IMHO. We were just there for a Mariners game in July and we got to see Ken Griffey Jr play that day. Can you believe he legged out an infield hit? Well, OK, the 3rd baseman bobbled the ball, but still!

So, I have all those gaming units as well. I wonder if they are more for my DH or the kids.:rotfl: I think my boys are going to ask to go to the arcade this time.
My oldest son is really into baseball now as well, a total Rays fan. We are lucky the stadium is only about 10-15 mins from the house. The have Family Fun Day quite often.

Welcome Aboard. Quick question: how do you forget a Disney Cruise? JK

I survived the kids'first week back to school. I "gently"got nudged the be the chairperson for recycling. Every Thursday the students bring in theirs cans. There's a competion between each grade level. So, there are separate bins and they all have to be weighed and then put into the dumpster. the grade with the most pounds at the end of the year get an ice cream party. Each week there's a trophy that the winning grade passes around. Cub Scouts started back up from the summer. I'm still the treasurer for the pack. The boys soccer starts back up next month. I'm going to need this cruise. Plus, my mom, who is usually my live in babysitter is going to Taiwan tomorrow for 4 months. What am I going to do without Mom? :scared1:

I hope everyone has a great day.Hopefully I can get back on soon.

Just remember the saying about paybacks John...just remember. And when you least expect it - there it will be. And as far as male solidarity goes, you may all 'solidify' all you want - it won't do much good. I have been married almost 30 years and he can come up with some pretty lame excuses for purchases as well - at least he gets to accompany me on the DCL trips. And that is not a lame trip I might add.

I have never understood the female logic of spending money to save money...

DW: "But it's only $200, and it's regularly $250. If we buy it we save $50."

Me: "But if we DON'T buy it, we save $200..."

And what is in a Bushwacker??? Sounds interesting.

I went back into our old cruise meet thread and finally found the recipe again. According to the poster, the original Bushwhacker is from the Paradise Point Skyride on St. Thomas, USVI. Caution: this recipe is not for the faint of heart, or anyone pregnant or nursing, as apparently the only non-alcoholic ingredient is the ice:

Here is a recipe for Bushwackers from the Paradise Point Skyride at St. Thomas, USVI:

6 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
3 oz Kahlua
2 oz Dark Rum
2 oz Amaretto
3 oz Crème de Cacao
2 oz Vodka

Blend with crushed ice and top with whipped cream and nutmeg.

Sounds awesome on a hot day, but it also looks like a couple of these would seriously kick your ...:rolleyes1

Bottoms up...:drinking1

Hi everyone,
Travelbee - great job. I'm still waiting on my FE - my mom is making it for me and she likes to leave things to the last minute - causing me much stress :scared1::scared1:

I took my DD8 to the Jonas Bros concert last night - my ears are still recovering from the 20,000 screaming girls and as luck would have it, today was her first day of school. But she was not a grumpy zombie when she got up, she was too excited.....

Seeing the show last night got me thinking about the shows onboard....we went to all of them last time around. Thinking I might skip one or two - anybody have any opinions??!?? Or is that a silly question.....:confused3

Cheers,
Lisa

Just read on another thread that Clayton will be the CD on our cruise. Anyone had any experience or heard anything about him?

I took the time to look this up and found several recipes. But it does look interesting - less the amaretto anyway. And then, what is dark rum. I don't like spiced rum so if it is anything like that - I guess I will stick to my "fun on the beach".

Here's a random piece of fun. I took the kids to the zoo today (last day before school starts), and now we may be in a movie. They were making "Zookeeper" with Kevin James. They filmed us watching the ostriches. He filmed "Mall Cop" in our town's mall, too.

I posted this on the main boards, but has anyone tried Hotwire lately? I think they took away the info that tells how many reviews the rating is based from, making it difficult to pinpoint the MCO Hyatt (or is it just me that can't see it anymore?).

Val

Does anyone know which evening the Formal Night and the Pirate Night will be?
Thanks, Barbara:goodvibes

Formal night will be Monday and semi-formal (lobster) Thursday evening. The Western I was on last October, Pirate Night was Grand Cayman night. I did look at a Navigator that someone had posted (regular western, not double dip) and it was GC night as well.

Ahhh, yes... The drink that tastes just like a non-alcoholic chocolate milkshake! Very dangerous - but oh, so good!

Better late than never, I suppose! We are soooo excited about our Double Dip cruise! I'd love to meet some of our fellow DISers (I've always been more of a lurker than a poster, but I've been here for a looong time anyway!)

Our crew includes:

Me (Jen)- 34, and lover of ALL things Disney:ccat:
DH (Josh)- 26, and has grown to love Disney (although he hates to admit it!)pirate:
DD (Hollye)- 9, and a total Disney veteran. She took her first DW trip when she was three, and has taken approximately 2-3/year since then. I would love to put the princess smiley, but she would kill me...she's "getting too old for princesses"...*sigh*:tinker:
DS(Brant)- 7. and another Disney vet...he's still young enough to think it's ALL cool, though:goofy:

I'd love to get the scoop on DISmeets, FE's, Secret DISer's, and all this great stuff I keep hearing about, plus any tips I need! This will be me, DD, and DS's second cruise, but the first was only a 3 day, and we are still newbies. Advice via repies or PMs is welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks...happy planning!

It is good to see you here. Every one likes to help one another here and someone will point you to the meets, fe's, etc. I'm glad you are coming!!
Barbara

I am so excited...just got an email back from my favorite FE creator on Ebay. She is making a cruise themed FE for us!!!! Yippie!

Welcome Jen! Glad to have you and your family joining us - and happy that you came out of "lurkdom" to join our thread! There is a link at the bottom of mousemom11's posts that reference our group activities plus, here is the link http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33100272&postcount=2140

You will need to send mousemom11 a PM and she can get you setup with the spreadsheet so you can join in on all the fun stuff.

KC - how is Hyper doing? I am sure she is lots busy getting acclimated to her new job and surroundings but an update would be most welcome.

And everyone else - my week is half over as I am off Friday - yippee. Our weather has really cooled off - kids go back to school next week so it will probably get hot again. Isn't that just the way....
