11/14/09 - Special Western - 2 CC stops

This one seems to be a little closer to selling out than the previous week's cruise. Just for giggles, I tried a couple of the suggestions from the answer on the forum, last night. On the 11/7 St. Croix cruise, I could get about half a dozen cabin numbers in each category to choose from. On this cruise, all cats were available but GTY only.

Either way, full or not, we're going to have FUN!

After the cruise on Saturday we'd like to stay somewhere near downtown Disney before heading home on Sunday. Does anyone have any ideas of what hotels are around there? And would let you book for one night only?

I think a few of us are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter after (They finally added it to the AP Discount list of Mods). There is a boat that takes you to DTD.

Excell, I'm really surprised too, that Disney is discounting this cruise. I would have thought it would sell out also. You know, we lost alot of families on this cruise thread because of job losses and the economy. Sometimes with the everday stress of our jobs, we fail to recognize just how lucky we are that we are able to take this trip. That said, I've got to get to work at this blankety-blank job!!

Yup, that's where we're staying - just hop on the boat to DOTD. We're staying until Tuesday but my BIL and family are only staying for 1 night....

I just wanted to apologize if my post offended anybody. I lost a lot of sleep last night thinking that I started something that I certainly had no intention to.
I would never begrudge anyone for getting a better deal than us. That is wonderful. If we could, we would try to rebook and try,but circumstances do not allow us too.
To those who got discounts, Congrats. You certainly let us all know that we should try too. Just like when the airfares went on sale. Thank You for sharing the info.
As for DCL and its policies, I personally think they are the best cruise line out there.

As for the cruise, I only meant that it was surprising that a double castaway was not a complete sellout was pretty amazing.
I would kill to spend all 7 days their, not literally kill!!

We do thank the Lord that in these troubled times, we can do this. My heart goes out to those who have lost jobs, homes and any other losses.
I know my DW's company has gone through at least 5 rounds of layoffs.
She never knows from day to day, if sh's next. I know a lot of people are in that same exact position and it really stinks.

So please accept my sincerest apology if I did in fact offend or imply or do anything that might have upset all our good friends on these boards.

I was the one that made the remark first about the discounts on the cruise - and other than I am jealous, there is nothing more to it and I am happy that those that got them got them.

My DH has been unemployed for over two years, I live in the state that has the highest unemployment rate in the country and I have scrimped and saved so we could do this trip and I can tell you - your remarks in no way offended me. I am thankful that I get to go so NO WORRIES Kev, absolutely none, you didn't offend me. to you. Now, about that nap.....

I'm not sure you could see, but I decided to put a ribbon for each cruise with the year, ship and date. So far there are only two, but I bought a whole bolt of the ribbon as we intend to take many, many more cruises!

Great Job on your FE...and I LOVE your blue ribbon idea!!

Unfortunately, DTD isn't near as much fun as it used to be since they closed the Adventurer's Club. Boy, I'm missing that place!

My heart still breaks over what they have done to DTD. In their effort to make all areas family friendly, they lost something special. Now I think the only adult only bar that is still fun is Jelly rolls on the boardwalk.

Not a problem! It never crossed my mind to be offended. I am always happy when someone gets a deal....just reminds me to take advantage of little things like on board booking! I was also surprised this cruise was not sold out. Doesnt it traslate into something like " More chocolate for me?"

I too, greatly miss the adventurer's club, and all the other clubs I never got to go to in DTD.

I'm not surprised that this cruise isn't a sellout given the economy, but the Mouse is partly to blame for it not being more fully booked, as I remember checking about every month for the past year or so to see what the rates were for this cruise as compared to the normal western at about the same time of year. This cruise has been marked up for most of the time it's been available to book, and even as the bottom dropped out of the stock and housing markets, it was still marked up. As I imagine anyone in the travel industry would agree, these are not normal times, and I'd bet others saw the markup and decided to book other dates. I'd be interested to see what happens after Aug. 31st - I haven't lost my job, but I still was reconsidering the trip. Course...I'm REALLY looking forward to it, so I didn't cancel.

But, I'm sure that the Mouse will be able to stay afloat, even with some of us getting an arm back of the arm and a leg that we paid.

I so wouldn't worry about the FE being lame or not. I'm sure it's not, and all the differences will make all the FEs truly special. I can say that b/c I have only a little plan of what/how I want to do mine, and have yet to start making it. LOL

But let me warn you - we had a competition on the first cruise that we participated in the FE exchange and I won the Boo-Bee prize - litterly, it is a magnet that is on my refrigerator still. And before anyone asks on this friendly, family board, it only has a bumble bee on it

And I so totally forgot to tell all of you. Remember Walter - that fun loving, light-hearted chocolate lab we have. He had a play date the other night - with a skunk! Never, in all my years as a dog owner, has that happened - and I hope it never does again. I had to even soak my rings because they stunk. But, he is clean smelling now - I just keep thinking I smell it every once and awhile but I do hope it is nothing but my imagination.

I am going to work on our FE this weekend. DH is going to Michigan for his Fantasy Football draft so the boys and I have all weekend to watch the Disney planning DVD over and over again.

You folks sound like you are way ahead of me regarding the FE gifts. I am just now putting some ideas together.
