Well - I have a reprieve until Saturday. Youngest DS is going to his DGF house and the middle one won't be back in town until Friday night so I have opted to cook on Saturday when at least the six of us can be hungry together (oldest will be out of town but he can have fresher leftovers too). I am not going to cook the whole thing again for just the DH and myself so I think we will just wait until Saturday.

I wish everyone that is travelling and those of you staying home blessings for a very happy day.

My DD7 has dubbed us the Holiday Hosters. :lmao: Neither my parents or my brother and DSIL have enough room for the whole family. So we always have family gatherings at our house, which is fine by us. That way, we know that we have to clean up our house at least a few times a year. :rotfl2:

We're doing a couple of turkey breasts and the mashed potatoes and the other family members bring everything else. My mom knows that she's not allowed in the front door without the green bean casserole and my DSIL is required to show up with her famous rum cake and a pumpkin pie. :thumbsup2
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! We'll be seeing you in less than a year!!

Luckily as Canadians we can space our turkey eatings out a little more with our Thanksgiving being in October.:lmao: :lmao: Good thing too 'cause I'm still trying to fit into my skinny pants! 18 lbs down and 25 more to go before the cruise - it's a really good incentive.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American Double Dippers!!

Same here. We always end up hosting. My DH's grandma passed away last week and the funeral is today. So now we are having an extra 4 people for Thanksgiving because of the out of towners. It'll be crazy. We'll be hosting some event every weekend between now through New Year's. (Next Saturday is DH's 40th birthday party, a Christmas gift exchange the week after, a dinner party for DH's actual birthday just before Christmas, Christmas dinner and New Year's Eve party) I don't know why we keep doing this to ourselves. Anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone else in the same boat?

"Boat??" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: in less than a year from now we'll all be in the same boat!!

Um, yeah, my friends say I suffer from "Helium Hand" because I can never say no.... In addition to all the "regular" stuff this team of year (playgroup, school council, community association, charity work, recitals, etc. etc.), I tend to take in "strays" - those among my friends who will be alone at Christmas/New Year's and include them in the festivities. What's an extra 5 or 10 people around the dinner table?!? There always seems to be enough to go around and I figure it's a way to spread good karma....:hippie:

Cheers,
Lisa

We're at my mom's house for Thanksgiving and we're having a great time with everyone around. Of course, seeing as it's a whole bunch of family that we seldom see and I'm figuring sooner or later there'll be a fight. You know that stuff kind of happens. Especially around me becuase I can be such a pain in the patootie. Just ask King Charming.

Hey, Barbara (screen name big jack 2002) I'll be happy to send you the link to our site but I don't see where you've posted here. Could you post a hello here so everyone will know you and then I'll be happy to send you the link?

Is everyone cool with me handling things like that? Or should I just send the link to anyone that asks. The reason I'm being careful is for our kids' sake but maybe I'm being overly cautious? Whatever the consensus of the group is will be what I follow.

Yeah, aren't families fun?!?!?:scared1: :scared1:

No, I think it's PERFECTLY reasonable for you to ask someone to say hello before giving them the info. You are handling it EXTREMELY well!!

Cheers,
Lisa

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I think overprotection of our kids is a good thing on the internet. I would also prefer folks to introduce themselves on this thread before they are given access to the website.

Hello,
Our daughter, Beth (Busybethie), posted here telling that we all were going on this cruise. So far, we have 8 cabins for our group. We are all on deck 2. We like it there. :goodvibes It will be great to meet all of you.

Travelbee...I am so sorry for your loss! My Mom died last year and this is the first year without her and her yummy rolls! Hope your day goes well...susie

Does anyone have all thier shopping done yet? I have a good start but not yet completed. I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving and if you are travelling home today - have an easy time of it. I have to take DS back to college this afternoon. Or, when it starts snowing again, whichever comes first.

Take care and enjoy your Sunday!

Hey there Barbara! Sorry... didn't connect you with Beth. Hope you understand... nothing personal or anything. Just trying to make sure our kids are safe. I'll send you the link in just a bit and you're going to love checking out the posts and the pictures of the darling kids going on this cruise!

Are you KIDDING me?!?!?! I doubt I'll have it all done before Christmas Eve. Even though I have stuff for the kids already, have to get a bit more. But this is the year that they both learn that their presents are more expensive so there are fewer of them. Fortunately, I think they're both gonna be really thrilled with the last gift each of them receive. Can't say what it is here just in case they do decide to read this thread, but I'll let you know after Christmas. Let's just say they're going to be totally psyched!

We travelled back from SC yesterday. Leaving a day early was a bummer, but not encountering a parking lot on I-75 was blissful! Unfortunately, it rained just about the entire way. King Charming is a great driver but I'm a terrible passenger. Most of the time I had a book to read, though, and that was a blessing for both of us.

I'm so sorry to hear about y'all's loss. Hope Thanksgiving was okay and that everyone at least enjoyed reminiscing and telling stories about grandma.

Had another request for private board access from a name I don't recognize. Went back a few pages on here and didn't see it. Also did a search and didn't find anything in our thread on this name (but y'all know how search is). Anyone remember the name stulaurie? If not, I'll let them know they have to post here first.

Hi!
I went through the whole thread (I should be doing other things) and couldn't find the name. Maybe they went by a different name. Ask them to come here and introduce themselves.:hippie:

Anybody else fill out the spreadsheet??

Cheers,
Lisa

Hi All
We are back from Vegas. Had a great time but no money to add to the cruise fund....Thanksgiving was fun with the family now I am home surrouded by :laundy:

Hypa I appreciate the care you are taking in keeping our kids safe. You are a great organizer!!

Have a great week.

Too bad you didn't win big but at least you had a great time!!!

Ah yes, laundry and dishes - you think you're all done and then it begins again - it's enough to drive a mom to consume one of those great fruity beverages!!!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving - we're preparing for a big winter storm here. I was out at the grocery store (along with everyone else) so that I don't have to go out for the next couple of days if I don't have to....:scared1: :scared1:

Can't wait to cruise!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you are home safe and sound plus you had a great time. Laundry - with the 2 youngest DS's home for the holiday, they had the washer and dryer tied up (not complaining as you notice I said 'they' not 'I') but I have it now. But, the last load is in the washer so not bad.

Snow - you must be expecting what we are currently getting. I do really, really dislike this white stuff. If we get what they say, we will have a new 8 or 9 inches on top of the 6 we currently have. I will be thankful when oldest DS and his fiance get home - worry wart Mom here.

Stay safe and have a good week everyone!
