Hi everyone! We just booked this cruise and are so excited. It will be me
(38), DH (36) and DS who turns 4 on 12/2. We were able to snag a cat 12, but I'm a little nervous about it. Price is nice, but who knows where our room will be. Also waitlisted for main dining (argh!), but I remain hopeful. Are there any other 3 - 4 year olds out there to pal around with mine? Also, any excursion ideas for the little one. We might book the Rum Point/Stingray city for DH and the Rum Point beach day for me and DS so we can at least be together for part of it. The whole reason we booked this trip is DH is dying to return to Stingray City. Any suggestions would be great. Also, does anyone know what days will be the formal night, pirate night and lobster night? Thanks!

Welcome, gonna be a great cruise. Our DD10 and DS16 are a bit older, but their are lots of younger ones on this cruise so your little one will have no prob finding many friends.

Heads up cruisers. Dolphin Discovery is having a HUGE sale. The Swim Adventure is $49.90 (regular $99) and the Royal Swim is $74.90 (regular $149) per person. It was such a good deal that I cancelled our original Royal Swim reservations and made new ones with the lower price.

Be aware of the following:

  • I incurred a 10% penalty to cancel my old reservation. Even with this penalty, I saved $217 over the original price. Warning - they charged my credit card immediately for the new reservation. The credit for my old reservation will take about 3 weeks to process. I'm not thrilled with that, but will accept it because the savings are so good.
  • The sale reservation is NON-CANCELLABLE and NON-REFUNDABLE for ANY reason. Including weather, ship not making port, etc.

They have only made a certain number of these reservations available. The last I looked there were about 980 of the adventure swim and 1106 of the Royal Swim left. BTW, I did NOT mention that I am with Disney (and they did not ask). From what I have seen on other threads, there is some conflict about Disney cruise guests booking directly with them because they have a contract with Disney.

WOW, that many??? How can they accomodate so many. I hope we get some Dolphin time.
I also thought DCL dealt with Dolphinaurus?
I didn't rebook, cause we already had the discount,so it basically came out to $115 pp. Plus I didn't want to wait 3 weeks for a refund.
But TY for the info. Wonder why they are making it so inexpensive:confused3, hope they are not going out of business.:scared:
I worry too much:scared1:, I really need to get away, a cruise sounds nice:rolleyes1

Welcome, welcome!! One of my DDs will be 4 on the cruise. We'll be doing the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel and on our previous cruise, we did the semi-submarine on Grand Cayman.

We won't be changing our Dolphin reservation....I'm sure it may save us a bit of money but I don't know if I could deal with the stress....:scared1::scared1:

Have a great weekend!!
Lisa

We just booked the 11am Dolphin Royal Swim in Cozumel as well. There will be 4 of us, DD will be 8, DS will be 11. Sounds like we may have enough people to share transportation.

Cool!!! There's gonna be a whole bunch of us there!!!!!

After doing quite a bit of research, we are leaning towards doing the Rays, Reef, and Rum Point tour offered by Native

Are you looking at instead of the dolphin thing or in addition to?

I just sent a note off to the person that sent my confirmation. If I can get that price I'm gonna get into the water with y'all. Hope I don't scare the dolphins away, them thinking I'm a whale and all.

:welcome: !!!!!!!!

If you'd like, send me a PM with your email and I'll get you access to our "private" board and signed on to the spreadsheet that tracks who all's going and kids ages and that kind of thing.

hope they are not going out of business.:scared:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Man, I can't wait to hang out with you. Sounds like you have a GREAT sense of humor!!!

I'll try to get the spreadsheet info updated on here this afternoon. But I've got to go take a nap. We did 4 parks in 2 days last week (y'all check out KC's trip report) and I'm still very, very sleepy. I'll catch y'all later.

Those are the total # of sale price slots available for all Royal Swims between now and December. My guess about why they are discounting it is that they got stung with all the cruise ships that didn't go to Mexico because of the swine flu. So they are doing this for a quick cash infusion.

The Royal Dolphin swim is on Cozumel. The Rays, Reef, and Rum Point would be on Grand Cayman.

That would be cool if you did the Royal Swim with us. LOL @ whale comment. I'm a plus-size woman, too, so I'd imagine that we'll get the industrial-sized dolphins for our foot pushes. :rotfl2:

Dismeet on Sat? Still one no and one no response, so just about everyone's gonna be there.

:offtopic:

We are so excited about meeting everybody:) and having a great cruise.

Finding the Dis boards was the best thing. We feel like we kind of know everybody already.
My DD(10) is SO:banana:excited about all the kids her age.
We can't thank HyperMommy enough for her effort and everybody else for their ideas and hints.

Hope everyone had/is having a good weekend. Finally no rain up here in CT:laundy:.

Hi MyDIScontinued cruisemates.... :lmao: I just wanted to pop in to say hello:wave2: that I still miss this meets and wish those darn test were another date..... Some of you wanted me to do pillowcases for you; if you are still needing them either for DISers or characters, please let me know. I want to take yours in before the other November cruisers.... Good job in discovering the excursion sell. That is really awesome....:thumbsup2

Our son will be turning 4 at the end of November. so they are almost exactly the same age!

my DS will be 4 1/2 at the time of sailing. We to are in a Cat 12, we have been booked since Jan 08.

Looks like the 4 year old boys might give the 8 year old girls some competition! Anyone know if the ship will be decorated for Christmas on our sailing?

OK we definitely need to meet. Our boys are almost exactly the same age and I am also a nurse. Hmmm......

I'll have a 4 year old girl to go along with my 8 year old girl so I'll have both groups covered :lmao:! Someone on the main boards said that they usually start putting up the Christmas decorations around mid-November so chances are pretty good that we'll see something.....

Rainy & dreary here today. Did some retail therapy and kept looking at stuff thinking "now, that would be good for the cruise....":rotfl2:

Cheers,
Lisa

hi,

Anybody know about the turtle farm tour/excursion. I have read the guides and still not sure.
I am sure there is a dis forum on this, but I can't find it, like usual:upsidedow.

Still pondering the stingray thing Mousemon mentioned, but I must admit I am the one scared of stingrays:scared::scared:.

TY

We are doing the Stingray/Island tour through Native Way Watersports and It goes to the turtle farm, rum factory, 7 mile beach and stingray city. Takes 4 hours and costs $60.00pp for adults and $15.00 for my DS-3 (covers admission to turtle farm). The stingrays at stingray city are the whole reason we are taking this cruise. They have been the highlight of my DH's life so far and he hasn't stopped talking about them for almost 6 years now! You won't be sorry. Once you see them you won't be scared. It is a truly amazing experience.

I think the turtles at the turtle farm are raised to be eaten, so don't mention that to your kids.

Sorry - I'm slow. Just read mousemom's post about stingraycity/reef/rum point excursion through Native Way. I think I might want to do this instead. Has anyone done either of these so I can make a comparison? Which would be better with a 3 (almost 4 year old) boy?

Hi everyone - This is Richard (I'm the person that started this thread... Check post #1, on page #1 :) ). Anyway, Just checking in and wanted to make sure you've got us included on the list you have.

It'll just be my wife and I on the cruise (We have no kids!).... and this is our 5th Disney Cruise. We're slated for LATE DINING (I hope it does not change). I don't think we're dressing for pirate night, but you never know. :)

Not sure on the FE's and gifts. The wife does not want to do it, but I might. Just put us down as a no for now, and I'll update later.

Also, what get together on Saturday?

We'll probably stay at the Radison the night before the cruise. I'm going to try and make a ressie in the next week or two for that.

Welcome back Richard! If you PM Hypermommy, she will give you the link to our cruise's web site and also send you the spreadsheet to fill in your info. Here is the latest info on the Saturday DISMeet.
