Welcome lovebydesign-saw your post on the other thread, glad you made it here! We are planning on doing MVMCP on the 13th.

Happy birthday to all who are getting ready to celebrate!

Do you think there will be a MVMCP on a day before or right after the cruise?? We've never been to one and would love to go!

I agree with everyone else - there should be one Friday, Nov 13th. I was so hoping that there would be on on the 6th but I have given up and we will go see Cirque instead. Not exactly what I had in mind but not bad either. We have seen it but not since 2002.

Happy Monday!

And to everyone going to DL for your birthday celebrations - HAPPY BIRTHDAY and have an awesome time.

Someday I will be in a park or on a cruise for my birthday!

Our 3 yr old son is not interested in potty training. We've tried for the last 6 months. But he has NO interest. MY fear is that he wont be potty trained by Nov. So this past week I told him he has to know how to go potty by himself if he wants to go on the Mickey Mouse boat. I showed him pictures of the boat and told him how much fun we would have.
So yesterday, he told me he had to go Mickey Mouse boat (instead of I have to go potty) :rotfl2: Then after he went potty, he said,"get my shoes, we can go now." Meaning now that he had went on the potty, we could go to the "Mickey Mouse boat". OHH if only it were so simple. Now how do you get a 3 yr old to go potty for 10 months before taking him on that Mickey Mouse boat?:confused3
But geeezzz, what a potty training prize. Beats the heck out of M&M's!

THANKS.....I can 't wait to go but now dh is thinking we should scale back and just do the 4 day bahamian cruise as it costs alot less and we're unsure how much airfare will be. Waiting for JetBlue to release Nov. dates. I guess i could book the other too and then cancel one if airfare is too high...sigh..I really want to go to CC twice!:confused3

Good luck in convincing him he needs to keep up that good work. But, Micky is much like Santa and can see all that stuff ;) .

My middle son sucked two fingers and to get him to stop, I told him that he wouldn't grow until he stopped doing that and since he so wanted to be bigger than his older brother, it didn't take long at all. Can't remember what I told him after he didn't get taller than Ben - although at this point he is!

Desi, with my first DD I tried everything - potty charts, weekly prizes, bribery, etc. and nothing really worked. Then one day (she was 3 1/2) she just up and decided that she was going to use the potty from then on. She had no and I mean no accidents whatsoever.

Fastforward 5 years, hadn't even bothered with my second DD when she announces that she is now going to wear panties - she hadn't even turned 3 yet. Well, needless to say after 6 weeks of accidents and many loads of laundry later, she too was potty trained.

Suffice it to say, they'll go when they're ready (pun intended). No amount of cajoling on anyone's part is going to make it go any faster. And you know yourself how much they change in a short period of time so I would think that by November he'll be in big boy pants and you won't have anything to worry about..... (well, at least until the next thing comes along, we are after all parents!!)

Loveysbydesign, I understand about the money but you'll be kicking yourself if you change cruises - 7 day double dips don't come around very often!!

Cheers everyone!!
Lisa

I totally agree with Lisa. My ODD told us at 2.5 that "she was ready to be potty trianed" and she was. Maybe 2 accidents. Mini started on the potty at 18mo then stopped. Tried again at 2 did it for 3 or 4 days then stopped. She is now 28mo and will sit somethings but rarely. And this one is as stubborn as they come. "I don't want to potty train" "I tinkle in big girl panties, ha ha"
I am sure he will be good to go in Nov. Good luck.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to wish you all a happy and healthy new year and say how glad I am that I no longer have to say our next cruise is NEXT YEAR!  Hope the next eleven months fly by!

Desi Potty training is tough. But stick with it. When I was a nanny, I took care of a little boy who refused to go in the potty. He would stand behind a chair or hide in the closet, then say don't come over here I make a mess. His mother told me he does that all the time. But when he is done he will let you clean him up. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The first time he did it to me, I got a diaper and the wipes. Then handed them to him and said you made the mess you clean the mess. Bless his little heart, he couldn't believe I wasn't going to change him. So he went into the bathroom and started to clean himself. I asked him if he needed any help. He looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said no tanks I do it. So I watched just in case he did need my help. He did pretty good. I checked his work and told him what a great job he did. He said yep I a big boy. When mommy came home we told her what he did. She asked why he didn't do that for her. He said I you baby.:lmao: She couldn't believe it, thats all it took.He didn't need diapers any more. He had only one accident and that was with his daddy. The boy was 3 1/2 yrs.old. Now he is 17. Good Luck (Kim)

Boy, I cannot BELIEVE how active you guys can be iin just a few days! I had pages and pages of posts to read!!! Okay, actually it was only 2 pages so maybe I should say I had page and page of posts to read. :rotfl2:

Oh, and if no one has anything planned, would you maybe like to go on a cruise together later this year? Say, November-ish???

You know, that sounds like an absolutely wonderful idea! I think my schedule is fairly booked for November but I'm sure I could clear a few days. Anything special about this cruise? Other than all y'all being on it, of course?

A little bleary-eyed this morning - went to a friends' house for a party - hadn't really "celebrated" New Year's Eve since the kiddos have been born.

You'd better practice up, Lisa! How you gonna sit and enjoy the day by the pool having cute little drinks brought to you by darling little pool guys if you can't even handle one single New Year's Eve? Sounds to me like you've got a bit of "training" to do. :rotfl2:

I had a question. Are the FE's for the kids and the adults or just the kids? I was reading some reports that adults also get things in the FE's. If so what do we get? Please let me know.

I don't want to come across as the "cruise expert" here because I've only been on one cruise. But the one we went on, I got some stuff from Oriental Trading and made up little "goodie bags" and then passed them out to everyone participating in the FE thing. I gave bags to adults and kids. I figured the adults could enjoy the toys too. I'd imagine the total cost of the items in each bag was a few bucks. It's not meant to be anything expensive or anything.... just a little smile to brighten someone's day.

Cashing in on the new Fun Card for my birthday since I'm an annual passholder. Thought I would buy some goodies for our cruise! Any suggestions? A few pins perhaps and maybe a shirt or two...

That sounds cool! I was thinking if I got the fun card (don't have an AP so I won't be getting the fun card) I'd probably buy something expensive that I'd never buy myself normally. But since I don't have an AP and therefore don't get a fun card, I guess that's what King Charming's for, right? :rotfl2:

Lisa, I think that's a great idea. Hyper... is there anyway for people to add their wish list for FEs on the spreadsheet, i.e. favorite Disney character, favorite sport team, etc.?

I don't know if we can add to the spreadsheet or not. Lemme figure out how to check that one out. Since there was no way to login or anything I doubt it. Buuuutttt I can think of a pretty easy workaround (hey... I'm a programmer... I'm the queen of workarounds! :rotfl2: ). I'll put up another spreadsheet and it'll also ask you for your DISBoard name along with all the other new info we want. Then I can just combine the two spreadsheets since the name will be the same on both.

Okay, guys... so what else would you like me to add to the spreadsheet? Fave Dis character? Fave team? How about whether or not you plan to participate in the chocolate poker game? What else?

The adults will all be getting the same thing but I think I will break it down for the kids - teens vs. kids, girls vs. boys. Can't wait to see what kind of spreadsheet Hypermommy comes up with once everybody puts their info in it!!:scared1:

Bwaaaaahahahaha!!!! Next time I do the spreadsheet I'll try to remember to also list the gender and age of the child(ren) associated with each room doing the FE thing. That should help if you want to differentiate it. I didn't last time for the FE, but we surely did for the white elephant and that was a good thing. We figured the little kids wouldn't understand the idea of "stealing" a present (and we adults had a LOT of fun stealing going on). And the teenagers wouldn't be interested in the presents gotten for the kiddie age, you know? Teenagers can be so funky, can't they? Or is that word even used anymore? Guess I'll have to ask my kids. :rotfl2:

do you know how to get into the spreadsheet to get a count for FE's? I can't remember how to access it...

Re: the spreadsheet stuff - the site is on Post 375 and then results on Post 401 - I don't think Hypermommy has updated them yet 'cause people have been kinda slow in filling out the info.:)

Hypa, where are ya?? I do think a spreadsheet update would be helpful. I like the website but it does not have all the info the spreadsheet did.

Okay, okay.. I get it!!! I'll get a spreadsheet update on my list of things to do. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Actually I couldn't have gotten to it this weekend anyway as I was working on my two websites on Sat and out cold with some stomach bug on Sunday. But I'll definitely try to get on it this weekend. Hey, KC, help me remember, would you? :rotfl:

I think she's been feeling under the weather - the same stomach bug that you had, MaryAz??

Hope you're feeling better!!

Lisa

I sure am and thanks for the good wishes! That stomach bug was something. Fortunately, our household seemed to have the one day version. I couldn't believe how it affected me!! I tried to sit up at the computer and get some stuff done on the website because it really, really, really needed to be done but after about 40 minutes I was just so altogether tired I couldn't believe it. Man, you know I'm sick the day that sitting at a computer wears me out, right KC?

Do you think there will be a MVMCP on a day before or right after the cruise?? We've never been to one and would love to go!

Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope. We did one before but it was a bust. It was cold and rainy. I could definitely deal with the cold - makes it more Christmasy that way. But the rain just made it miserable. I'd like to give it another try though, because the hot chocolate was definitely worth it!!! And besides, I haven't given up on the idea of trying to find a way to sneak into the parks before the cruise and this might be just the way (shhhhhhh... don't tell KC).

Poor Hypa is she has it too. I am still sick. Going on 3 days. Ready to be done now. Hubby is home with Mini. Big one went back to school YAY!

Hope you feel better soon. Fortunately ours was the 24 hour variety of stomach bug. KC has something different that's got his head all stopped up (and those of you who know me well know just how much it's paining me to be nice and not say something about KC and his stuffy head). I hope he gets over it soon. He's actually been quite a trooper trying really hard to get everything done that he needs to (as opposed to the "normal" male way of being sick and becoming a big baby... oops.... did I say that out loud?).

Then after he went potty, he said,"get my shoes, we can go now." Meaning now that he had went on the potty, we could go to the "Mickey Mouse boat".

Oh, how absolutely precious!!!! The scrapbooker in me sees a page where you have a picture of him standing or sitting on the potty (with pertinent parts covered, of course) and on the background of the page is a faded image of Mickey's boat and the story you just told us there on the page. Awwwww.... how absolutely precious!

I know when Eating Machine #1 was potty training it just about drove me mad :scared1: (or maybe it did... maybe that's my excuse, er, explanation). He would say he needed to go and go on the potty. But then he'd have several accidents, some of them in big boy underwear (which I just LOVED to clean up). I distinctly remember calling my mother complaining because he was doing it on purpose. I just knew! that he knew what he was doing and was going in his underwear just to spite me or something. Of course, mom cackled (why does she do that every time the kids are driving me crazy... you'd think she's taking some perverse pleasure in it or something) and told me to quit worrying and that he wouldn't be walking down the aisle in a diaper. Of course, it finally happened. He's 15 now and hasn't seen a diaper in a number of years. But, oh, you couldn't tell me that at the time!

Oh, forgot to tell you! Got my first piece of cruise attire. Actually, it's a camera. :rotfl2: It was time to get a new camera because my old one was only working with absolutely brand new batteries anymore. KC was so sweet and did the research with me and we decided on a Nikon S550. They were on sale the day after Thanksgiving but every store that I went to only had them in black. I wanted a purple camera. I almost broke down and bought one but I decided to hold out for what I really wanted. And then after Black Friday the price went back up. By like $50 (which is at least a few drinks of the day, right?). So I waited. KC was not exactly thrilled with me because that was my Christmas present and now I wouldn't have it on Christmas. But I was determined to wait until the price came back down. Which it did the day after Christmas. So I bought it. It was supposed to be delivered today but FedEx came with it yesterday. You should see me with my tiny (easy to wear and take everywhere) cute little purple camera! I can't wait to take a billion shots. We only took about 600-700 pictures on the last cruise.... I'm looking to double that number this time! :rotfl2:

Okay, guys... off to check facebook and work on my websites. I'll come back in a day or so and check on what's up here. Y'all do some brainstorming in here about what else you'd like to have added to the website and I'll happily add it.

Hypermommy, I wonder if you got that virus that has been all over DW. I was reading on another thread that people were tossing their, not so tasty "cookies" all over the park and at the resorts. And Florida has been hit hard with it. Hope you are on the mend with everyone else in your fam...My family all had sinus infections and ear infections, including hubs and I. Not fun! Anyhoo, thanks a head of time for all your hard work on the spreads etc...found our FE maker on ebay. Anxious to get started on the whole FE gig!

Are we doing t-shirts or lanyards for the group? Saw that on a thread as well. :thumbsup2

DH got me a Canon Rebel for Christmas too, now I'm already for the cruise! What??? Not for another 11 months???

It must have been camera season this Christmas! Mom got me a new Kodak Easyshare z1015! :woohoo: (I know, not quite in the same league as a Rebel or the Nikon, but it's perfect for me!)

And for Mini-MaryAZ:

We need to get a new camera too - that purple Nikson S550 is supercute!!! I'm partial to the blue one myself....

Have done nothing today but think about the cruise - could be 'cause we're expecting 15 - 20 cm overnight and will probably have a snow day tomorrow - the kiddos have only been back at school for 2 days - Lord, give me strength!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm right there with you...I am cruise planning all day today, I should clean something, but I don't feel like it!

I'm working on FE stuff today and lodging for the before the cruise. I am waiting for a good deal...
