Horrible day so far...DD4 got sent home from preschool with a fever. Never have I sent a kid sick to school in my whole life. This one just creeped up on us. She is cranky and just not herself. Not to mention the asthma garbage has kicked in. Keep your fingers crossed that she isn't sick on our cruise.

Awww, so sorry for your poor DD :sick: The flu has hit really early this year. I sure hope that the asthma isn't too serious and that she recovers quickly. No cruise sickness allowed! She's getting it out of the way now and will be good to go for the cruise.

Thanks for the kind words...hoping she is getting this out of the way! Saw her allergist last week and he gave an antibiotic for the cruise, just in case.

Oh dear. I hope she feels better SOon. On the other hand, perhaps it's better she should get it out of the way before we sail. As a fellow asthmatic, let me reassure you - care for us on the ship is EXCELLENT heaven forbid you should need it. And, as a fellow asthmatic, I wish MY doctor here was sufficiently forwardlooking to give me a premptive prescription such as you got for her.

I feel your pain. My oldest was sent home today w/a fever, too. I still haven't registered one on our thermometer, though. Sending healing thoughts your way. At least it's happening now vs closer to the cruise.

Fri the 13th!! How could I not have put that together? We fly down then, too. 7 is a lucky number, though, right? We're travelling w/7 people, so maybe that can make up for it? :)

I've been trying to get some writing in (I'm a children's author), but I have too many cruise things on my brain (& distracting websites - ahem). Need to cruise so I can clear my brain for my muse to take over again.

I hope that both of them are better ASAP - and that they don't pass it on to the rest of the family. That can begin a very vicious circle.

She's feeling better this afternoon, no fever since she had Tylenol at 12:00. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us. That swine thing is stressing me out!

Good Morning, everyone!

Hopefully, this morning finds everyone well, and the kidlets on the mend.

It looks like the sun is coming up, here in the great northeast, although it is a brisk 48 degrees. Sometimes, it's really difficult to live with someone who keeps praying for snow. That would be my husband the mad skier.

Happy Day, All!

We have snow mixed with rain in our forecast for Sunday. I am not thinking he will have to wait too much longer. I don't mind the snow so much, just the stuff that goes with it (scraping windows, shoveling, driving in it).

Have a great day everyone.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were my cousin. Her name is Linda, lives near you, and has a mad skier husband. :rotfl2:

Grrrr! Woke up this morning to temps of -8°C, half an inch of snow on everything and extremely slippery roads... :scared1: ...and of course, no one has their winter tires on yet. Hard to believe that only a couple of weeks ago we were still enjoying 28° and sunshine. We seem to have gone straight from summer to winter.

So far the kids haven't gotten sick yet (crosses fingers), which is more than I can say for Joanne and myself. I was off for two days last week and she is now suffering from the same cold -- no fever though, thank God. Maybe the kids' immune systems have been beefed up by spending their days in that wonderful germ factory known as elementary school.

We had the pleasant surprise of having my brother drop in for the night on Tuesday... unusual since he is about 3000 miles from home. He is on his way from New Brunswick to spend a few months working in the oil patch up north of us in the Fort McMurray area. With one daughter in high school and one in university, and the work situation not so good back home, he found money getting tight so he's going to try his luck out here for a bit. Luckily he has a trade - he's a journeyman millwright - and a ton of friends already working in the area, so his prospects are pretty good.

He mentioned that after spending the winter out here working, he wanted to take his family on a vacation in Florida in May. He said the girls aren't so interested in WDW but just want to go someplace with a beach and an ocean, so I showed him our DVC planning book and pointed out that I still have enough points to cover a week at Vero Beach. :goodvibes I think he now has something to look forward to and to help him get through his first northern Alberta winter.

Almost Friday... and this is a long weekend for us (Thanksgiving). :woohoo:

Have a great day, all.

John

Happy Thanksgiving to our our Canadian cruisers. I realize it isn't until Monday (well, that is what my calendar says anyway) but if I don't say it now, I very possibly will forget. Have a grand day and don't eat too much!

Just had to share this. Emma and Dottie dressed for chapel day at school today.

The girls go to a private Christian school. Every Thursday they attend Chapel, so there is a special dress code for Chapel Day. Girls must wear dresses/skirts and boys must wear dress shirt, pants, and tie. Now that I think about it, it's the school's version of Formal Night. :lmao:

Awwww Becky, your girls look so pretty.

Sure hope everyone who is feeling ill is all better soon. H1N1 has finally hit our little island. So far it is only in the local population and has not hit our american school. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

Thank you! :goodvibes

My FE gifts and packing folders arrived today! :cool1: The UPS guy told me to hurry up and go on vacation because he was getting tired of hauling all my stuff in. :rotfl2:

I have seen several talking about the number of books they're bringing on vacation.

If you travel regularly, you might want to look into an electronic reader. I have the Sony version (the Sony Reader). It's like a Kindle (except it doesn't have internet connectivity). You can add a memory card to it and it will hold a TON!! Mine currently has 20+ books (including Passporter's Guide to the Disney Cruise Line, of course) and several hours of mp3s. The battery lasts approx 8 hours (tested and confirmed in June). It's light weight and very easy to use.

Actually, mine regularly ends up in my purse, especially if I know I'm going to have some downtime during the day. it's much easier to deal with then the books I used to lug arround!

They are beautiful. Funny how dress codes for church have changed - here we see jeans and even shorts in the summer at worship. I always required the boys to at least get into kakhis and a nice golf or button down shirt. I will say that I am happy that the hats and gloves are a thing of the past.
