11/1 Cruisers almost there

Okay everyone my daughter started this thread because she wanted a countdown ticker! I can't belive the time is almost here! I have not packed, not completely shopped. my house looks like a bomb hit it, my daughter's are booked with bd parties and colorguard performances at the football games, just got back from a biz trip and I am not sure who is going to feed my stray cat that I made the mistake of feeding last summer who then presented me with three of the most adorable kittens in July. Did I say all that in one sentence? Anyway I did not get our info on the spreadsheet and I would like to know where I can get a copy of it. Will be seeing you all soon, we will be the naked family without any luggage!!

I can't believe most of you are packed! My loveseat is filled with all of the non-clothes suggested items, so now we're just trying to figure out how we're going to pack our clothes...and there's just my DH & me! Those of you with kids are my heroes...how you do it just amazes me! I'll be seeking tips in a few years!

UPDATE is out; e-mailed to everyone I have thus far.

Check your e-mail!

2 DIS meets:

#1 on Sat, 5-6 p.m.; Deck 7 aft
#2 on Sun, 12:30-1:30; Promenade lounge

Both are come and go as you please

Wear your lime green folks!!!

I guess I'm one of the slower ones. I am totally not packed, although, my son is packed.

I laughted with my girlfriend last nite becuase she went on the Wonder and she didn't pack until 8 the nite before and she has 3boys!

Needless to say she told me that the kids looked like they belonged on Oliver Twist....ha ha

Anyway, if you pack using tissue paper in between your clothes, they pretty much stay without getting wrinkled.

9 more days!!!!

See everyone soon

Lori

So I guess this is the official new thread for us. I 've been so busy, I haven't checked in two (maybe three) days. Going through Dis-withdrawal (again).

Anyhow, I got the updated spreadsheet in my e-mail Deb. Thanks again. It's great. I hope we meet. I'm envious of you people staying at the Rad. the nite before. You'll all meet before us and then want to pass on the cruise meet. I hope not.

Like I said on our old thread, we probably won't be able to make Saturday's "meet" being the same time as sailaway and then we're early seating. But I'm hoping on Sunday we'll meet a crowd.

I'm also with you not-yet-packed people. Lots of piles though.

Bad news - dog sitter backed out. ugggh! Not what I needed now...its supposed to be happy thoughts only!

Terri (I like we're more personel now)

I was wondering what happened to the old thread.

We have not packed yet either. All the non clothes things are all over my kitchen table.

I did manage to finish all 4 of our Halloween costumes tonight for MNSSHP at Magic Kingdom next Thursday. We leave in less than a week.

Went shopping for dressy outfits for DD's. I could not believe it. My 9 year old who has not worn a dress/skirt in two years picked out this gorgeous formal outfit. I could not turn her down after not wearing a dress for 2 years. She looks beautiful in it, of course she proceeded to pick out two more outfits too.

Can't wait.... I am hoping I do not forget anything.

Hope you guys can help me out. I can not remember how they assigned Character Breakfast to us. Last year we went Western. I think it was on an at sea day after Animators but am not sure. Trying to figure out if we can fit Palo's brunch in but do not want to eat twice!!! I looked at the Eastern navigators on castawayclub.com but they do not say how you get the tickets for this.

Thanks in advance!

yes, it's after you eat at Animators on either Sun, Mon or Thursday. We think we'll get APL rotation (2 small kids) so that would be Sun a.m. for us (was last year).

LAP would be Monday morning

Somehow I think PLA works out to Thursday a.m. (but it doesn't follow the after AP rule so I'm not sure)

Thanks Debby!

My mom requested PLA for our group and I figured Thursday would be our day. My crazy Type A planning will have to wait until we get the KTTW to confirm.

Kristina,

You would be laughing hard to see what not knowing the rotation does to my insides. I literally write down all three scenarios and then pitch 2 when we get the card and get in line. Dh thought I was NUTS in the hotel last year when I was writing this stuff down but when we got onboard and made our ressies, he was impressed!

Hey, us novices here don't know what APL or PLA is? Please explain. Do we need to be concerned when our Character breakfast is?

Just got Back from Cost Cutters (local variety store). Picked up all that little stuff on the packing list: duck tape, air freshener/nitelite combo, clothes pins, dramamine, trial size items, tissue paper, etc. Does this mean I should start packing now?

uh oh, Bell rang, gotta run

The rotations are (someone correct me if incorrect):

APL (typically young kids)
PLA (mid-aged kids)
LAP (no kids/older kdis)
Disclaimer: this is all "typical" assignments; no guarantees

You'll eat at each restaurant twice and the first one 3 times. It's not a big deal except in designing what night you want Palo (if you do) and making sure you don't miss the show in A.

The show nights in Animators are:
APL - first night (Sat)
PLA - 3rd night (Mon)
LAP - 5th night (Wed) on the western they do it Sun, but Sun is formal night on the Eastern

Does that help or is it clear as mud?

It's your dinner rotation which will be...

(PLA) Parrot Cay then Lumieres then Animator's Palate
or
(APL) Animator's Palate then Parrot Cay then Lumiere's
or
(LAP) Lumiere's then Animator's Palate then Parrot Cay

Personally, we're going to aim to do our Palo ressies on the night we have Lumiere's except if it's the first night so that we can meet our tablemates. I'm like Debby...mapping the possible scenarios out so our DHs just have to grab our seating assignments while DMom and I stand in line.

Does anyone know which day is the second brunch day? I believe one of them is Thursday. Thanks!

brunch is available on all 3 sea days (Sun, Mon, Thurs). From what I've read and what we experienced last year, you can get Palo dinner *and* brunch pretty easily on the 7 day; just do it the first day after boarding and be somewhat flexible on timing

Thanks, Debby! You gave me more info than DCL's Castaway Club hotline could! Thanks also for the dining assignment estimates...we had the LAP last year and had no kids...makes sense and I'm guessing we will once again.

everything I've learned has been from these boards so I'm just playing it forward - LOL!

I can't even imagine folks who go on the cruise without knowing this or checking in these boards; the Horror!!!

Debby- You describe HORROR!!! which is what I am not looking forward to......We are traveling with 20 newbies who refuse to look at the boards!!! They drive me insane:earseek:

I told my DH I was going to lay low and hide out a bit the first day so my Tour guide Barbie persona does not kick in and I am stuck with 20 people following me around! lol I just do not understand what they are thinking but I know I will have the best time and that's all that matters!

So sorry - I am still confused about the rotation thing. I was looking at the menus so please tell me if I am right.

The first 3 nights, say you have APL, you go to those restaurants to have their specific menu. Then the rest of the nights each restaurant has the same menu with a theme, for instance Tropical night? Is this right? I am thinking about doing my reservations for Palo on tropical night.

I am soooooo confused

I think that's right, but the question I have is Sunday/Formal night; I think the menu is the same everywhere (lobster?) or do you keep the restaurant menu and they actually do the Captain's Gala menu (lobster) on Thursday which is semi-formal night?

I'm really hoping some folks on the current cruise bring back navigators so we can ask specifics!
