11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

I suppose I made my first purchase for this cruise today, we bought a couple of packages of Starbucks Via at Costco. Though instant, it tastes better than the instant bilge they serve on the ship. It will be a bit cheaper than our 4 cups of coffee each per day at the Cove.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We will be packing ours too. Although I didn't think the stuff they served up top next to the coke machines was too bad. Besides, if we were home hubby would be spending $3 a day at Starbucks anyways. LOL.

Anyone else getting super duper excited yet? Finished making 1 part of my FE gifts, just finished buying all the necessary supplies for another part. So excited.

Ordered more magnetic paper for the door deco..... it is coming along - but my hubby thinks I have turned into a crazy woman!!! Well, I guess I actually have.

I love the boas and tiara. My tiara always travels with me! LOL

I feel so far behind. About 6 weeks ago we decided to put our house on the market...well it sold 3 weeks later and we put an offer on another place and will be moving in about 3 or 4 weeks before the cruise. We are so busy packing I haven't had a chance to do anything cruise related since I paid final payment and booked the shore excursions. I am not sure if I will have time to do the FE. I am working with trying to get a magnet made for the door of the cruise ship and have I been seeing something about supposing to register? So after the final payment, shore excursions, and getting the kids signed up for the kids club there is still something else I am supposed to be doing??? I am off to look at the online cruise stuff and see if I can figure it out but any tips would be appreciated!

which ship were you on?

Wonder - last January

Can't wait to sleep in their new beds where the headboards light up with fireworks!

The renovated rooms at the DLH are really cute. Love the headboards!

I'm really looking forward to getting away. I really need a vacation!

I'm right there with you! I took Labor Day week off and visited family in NE Oregon came back to work on Monday to all the game playing that's going on and couldn't wait to leave again.

Happy Sunday Everyone,

Well we are at 6 weeks plus a few days til we leave for the cruise. I can't believe how fast time is going by.

My FE gifts are completed, now I just need to figure out how to pack them and get them to Florida. I'm still toying with the idea of shipping them to our first hotel, but I am so afraid that might lose them. I was thinking of checking with UPS to see if I can ship it to a UPS store in the Orlando area and pick the box up there - might be an option and cheaper than packing in the suitcase????

I just bought DD a new suitcase - it is so cute - black with white and pink polka dots - she is so excited and can't wait to start packing!!

Anyone have any thoughts our a DIS meet once we get onboard? Anyone intersted? When and Where to have it??

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

I'm interested but have never sailed with Disney before so I will leave it to the others to plan the details~!

Hi, everyone! Add us to list of 11/6 cruisers! I had visited this thread awhile back (lurking), then got very busy and had to focus on regular life instead of the cruise.....I know, where are my priorities? ;) And now it's less than two months away! We're really looking forward to being on the Dream. Our first cruise ever was last year on the Wonder over Halloween, and we were instantly hooked. Since we returned, my daughters are always making their friends play "cruise" instead of "house". :rotfl:

Last year we travelled with my parents and SIL. This year it's just us - me, DH, DD7 and DD5.

Is it too late to join the FE exchange? We would love to participate if it's not too late in the game.

SarahMay,

You select your check in arrival time online. Due to the larger number of passengers for the Dream, there are now check-in "slots." It to control when folks arrive at the port.

Welcome!

I'm interested but have never sailed with Disney before so I will leave it to the others to plan the details~!

Back in the day on the Magic and Wonder we used to have meet-ups in the Promenade Cafe. That doesn't exist on the Dream. I'm not really familiar with the ship as this will be my first time on it.

Looking at deck plans it looks like 687 or Bon Voyage are suitable replacements. Jackie (ibouncetoo) may have some thoughts. I might post something on the main board and see what folks think.

Tammy - I have been trying to decide that myself. One of the things I made is small, but heavy - so I am trying to decide about mailing to the hotel in advance. We are flying down on Friday, so I could send to make sure it gets there no later than Friday. But, like you, I am nervous about it getting lost. Problem is I always over pack too! LOL. I get 4 free bags when we fly, so maybe I will just take along. Still trying to decide. So much to think about!

On another note - my good friend boarded the Dream today for a 5 day cruise. She texted me all morning before they set sail and said the ship is HUGE but the rooms seem smaller. I am told they are the same square footage as before, but the layout makes it seem tighter. Oy!

I can't believe 7 weeks from right now we will be sailing! Can't come soon enough (even though I have a million things to get finished first)!!

Welcome Kathryn!!!

welcome Kathryn and family :)

We are coming to the port from SSR on the cruise line transportation, so if the meet and greet could be scheduled accordingly, I would appreciate it. Last year, we didn't make it because it was too early for us. :rotfl: It seems like we have been waiting for this trip forever :lmao:. DH and I are heading down to AKV this weekend for a few days and maybe will pick up a few things for the cruise too. FE gifts are just about done. Next on the "to do list" is to get my boa and tiara :rotfl:

I called my hotel and the will receive the package, but there is a $5.00 fee to hold it. I also called The UPS Store thinking I could ship it from here to the UPS store near our hotel - in addition to the shipping charge, the UPS store in Florida charges a $10.00 per day storage fee to hold the package - for that price I will just pay the $20.00 baggage fee and take it with me - totally nuts!!!

Last Call for anyone who wants to join us in the FE Exchange - our cutoff date is this Sunday, September 25th.

If you would like to join us please email me the following info:

Dis Name
Cabin Number
names of the adults in your party
names and ages of the children in your party

In your subject line please put 11/6 Dream FE Exchange (I am also organinzing the exchange for the 11/10 cruise as well).

Thanks

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome! I look forward to spending more time reveling in pre-cruise excitement.

Tammy, I'll email the details to you for the FE exchange, although we still have GTY status rather than a cabin number at this point.

.

Sign me up for the "need a vacation" club, too! We're looking at a week of 100 plus degree weather and I am SO done with summer.

Being our first cruise, we didn't book any Nassau excursions. I'm now having second thoughts and hope we won't regret this decision. That just means we'll have to book another cruise for that - right?

I can't believe how close November 6 is. We signed up "late" for this cruise - I can't imagine waiting as long as so many of you have been.

Welcome Kathryn !

Just back from a few nights in York Beach Maine for a Family Gathering at the ocean ! Brought a lot of beach balls, floats, pails for all the great nephews and nieces !

So for now, no more vacation until WDW and the Cruise !

I am mostly done with the Fish Extender Gifts, just not sure if I want to finish assembling them in WDW or on the Cruise Ship? So I am now debating to ship them down to the WDW resort or the cruise ship warehouse.

Getting excited about staying at the Beach Club Villas again, and after that the first cruise we have ever been on.

Okay, back to the diet again tomorrow.

Ian, Jay also likes the Starbucks coffee packets, and I think he is bringing some of them. I am more the Dunkin Donuts variety of coffee drinker and want their new K-CUPS and a new red KEURIG machine ! I want to go visit the COVE, and get early morning pastries with the coffee there. And then how to get the coffee and pastries back from the COVE to the Stateroom Balcony without spilling a drop ?
