11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

After I get through with my name tags I'll be making at least 1 door sign
for our room.
I've read that some people make one for each day of their cruise!
I'm not sure I have time for that also. But I have already bought my
packs of magnetic paper, they're just sitting on my dining room table
and have been for weeks.

Oh, well......still 9 days right?

I'm off now to get a new haircut/color/foil highlights for our cruise!!!

Just sharing the info I got on the Mayan Ruins Tour. This is the email info I recieved:

Thank you very much for contacting us.

Unfortunately, hurricane Wilma, seriously affected Cozumel. We know that
some of the ships will now be docking at Costa Maya, and we're ready to
offer our services for passengers of these ships. We do have spaces
available for the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour, in different groups that
will be leaving from our location in Mahahual, village at
different times on Wednesday, November 09th. On a general basis we
program our tour to start one hour after the ship docks. In this case
we'd apreciate if you let us know what time yours will be arriving so
we can schedule a tour that fits your needs. (We've been informed
Disney Magic, will arrive at 10:30AM, however, we haven't been able to
confirm this information with the Costa Maya Port Administration.)

The price for this tour is $43 per person. It includes round
transportation, travel insurance, entrance fees, local native guide,
bottled water at the beginning of the tour and beer or soda at the end.
It is completed in 3.5 to 4 hours.

To confirm reservations we only need your approval and the names of the
participants. Currently, we're not requiring a credit card number as
guarantee due to the limitations in technology we have in our
community. We require cash payment (Pesos or Dollars) for our services
at the beginning of the tour.

Please feel free to contact us in case you need any further details or
assistance in confirming reservations.

Sincerely,
Ivan Cohuo

I emailed him back and said we are interested. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

Does anyone happen to have an e-mail or telephone number for Dave and Ivan ruins tour?

Sorry, I forgot to give the website.

Suzanne--They don't take a deposit or a credit card, but they want the full name of everyone who will be going. He usually emails me back the night after I email him, so you could hear from him by tomorrow.

I'm still sorry for what happened to Cozumel, but Costa Maya looks like it will be a great alternative.

:cool1: I got my document package yesterday!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I also have been printing anything I can get my hands on about Costa Maya! My eyes are red I have been staring at the computer screen for so long! It sounds like they have Mexican dancers in costume at the port, and my 11 year old daughter is interested in seeing them. I don't know if we will do an excursion, or just play it by ear. I really want to do some serious shopping, and maybe relax in one of the pools or beaches. I am just so happy to have an itinerary, and be able to go on this cruise! I can't believe I start driving down 1 week from today! Claire

Hello, fellow 11/5 cruisers! I've been lurking for months! :) Scouter, my Mom is BoosGram, which is why I hadn't added us to the list--she has us down as DD, DSIL, and DGD3. We are sooo ready for this cruise! Too bad I haven't started packing yet, or finished our pirate costumes, or finished our room signs, or... AAAAaaaahhhhh!! ;)

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Could someone please tell me what the room signs are/supposed to be? TIA!!

Scouter-you are wayyyyyyyyyyyy to funny!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone contacts Dave & Ivan, who do the tours-rumor has it that they were known to stop at a local (poverty stricken) school ( upon demand) to drop off supplies to school children. Supplies that some kind cruisers brought along. Anyway, please get us a headcount of school children. Maybe we disboard cruisers can work a little magic for them. ??????? :wizard: :grouphug: :lovestruc
Looking forward to kicking back .

From michlynb: "Could someone please tell me what the room signs are/supposed to be? TIA!!"

The room/door signs are signs created by DISers (with amazing creativity), which are attached to the outer cabin door to identify their cabins to other DISers. They can celebrate the specific cruise or cruisers, or both. Believe it or not, you'll find a common Disney theme :teeth: . Of course, they're also very useful in identifying your own cabin since one door in a long corridor tends to look a lot like another. You might want to do a search on the cruise line forum for door signs; there are threads that have a lot of great suggestions and beautiful pictures, too. Good luck! :wizard:

P.S. Door signs are for those who have had tooooo many of the "drink of the day" beverages, to help them find their way home. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Yes, I heard that too, and I would love to do this.

I heard back from Dave and Ivan. We are booked. Tour time for our cruise is 11:30, but that will be changed if our arrival time changes. It's getting so close, I really should start packing.

Lauri, can you please tell me what time/day you emailed them, or did you speak to them directly. I have not heard back yet.

Thanks!

michlynb-First time I emailed them was 10:50 PM on Oct. 25th, I heard back 9:08 PM on Oct. 26th. Today, I emailed at 10:56 AM, and heard back 3:28 PM. I thought that was pretty fast, as I read on the cruise critic boards that the internet service is fairly slow there, and to allow a few days to heard back from them. The last email I received from them was a confirmation of the tour.

EMMOM-I have a DS 11 also, as well as DD 8. I informed them of this, but I was still quoted $43 per person, not discount for children.

If I remember right, you are staying at Royal Pacific and were asking about the hotel. We were there the first year it opened and we thought it was unbelievable. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is really nice and so are the cabanas. The biggest perc is that your room key is a fast pass to every Universal ride, every time. Not the once or twice you get at Disney. Very cool!

In another post you mentioned you daughter was interested in seeing the dancers in Costa Maya and probably would not be interested in the ruins. Same here. I did however, find horseback riding on the beach which interests DD11 and DD 8. Let me know if you want the info.

All of you ladies sound like tons of fun!!! Good to know since after 3 or 4 days my DH and I could be sick of each other. (You can only take so much togetherness!) I'm in for the drink of the day.

Besides the apparent need for a door sign, what else is there that is an essential, this is our first cruise, so I can use all the tips I can get.

See you all soon!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Beth

p.s. No, I haven't started packing either.
