11/04/06 Anyone Out There Yet?

We received our cabin assignment last week. Went from a cat 12 to a 10. We are happy to have the split bathroom. Now I guess its time to start to think about packing.

We dressed for Pirate night last night and got great responses (plus great pictures too!!! Used them for holiday cards!) Two responses we got a lot of were "I wish got dressed up" and "How did you know to dress like that?" (obviously not a Dis visitor!!!)

I had a workshop yesterday so I sat there and wrote down what I was going to pack. (real productive use of my time!)

T~ Thanks for the confirmation!

NJ Mermaid:

DW & I were possibly looking for someone to hang out with. What dinner time do you guys have? Oh, by the way, I play guitar too. Please send me a P.M. so we can chat a little more.

For anyone who has taken a disney cruise before - about what percentage of people dress in costume for the pirate night? 50%? 30%? I'm trying to figure out if we should get costumes or not, or just wear tropical clothing.

With the cruise in such proximity to Halloween, we're all dressing up as pirates for a Halloween party we're throwing and bringing along our costumes (both adults and kids) for Pirate's Night on the cruise.

I don't know how to PM, but we're in the later dining time, I don't know how DISmeets are set-up, but I do remember someone offered to buy us all the first drink. Should we hold her to it? I would like to meet all of the peeps in this thread, especially those who have cruised before.

We 're doing as jsfein mentioned, DS is going to be a pirate for Halloween this year and while we were buying his costume, DH and I each bought hats, eye patches, and earrings pirate:

Hi!

I just joined the group today. We are very excited about going on our cruise. We took the 3-day two years ago, and booked this one before we left the ship.

We are a family of 5, also travelling with grandparents and in-laws.

I noticed that there are a lot of other people taking advantage of the NJEA convention and travelling this week from Jersey (happens every time we go to Disney!). We are from Haddonfield.

We'd love to hear from others about the same age as my kids. I have a daughter (7), a son (8) and a son (15).

NJ Mermaid:

Good to hear from you. It will be good meeting you guys on the cruise.

Just to tell you a little bit about us: I play electric guitar & like to watch sports (big Cubs fan). DW & I like to go to concerts & plays. DW is an artist. Her areas are photography & glasswork jewlery.

I'm reading the posts, but don't understand all the abbreviations.

DD, DH, DW, DS......?

Can someone help me out? (Or, is there a guide somehwere that I'm missing?)

Thanks!

WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!! LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU!!!
We are from Burlington.

My DS14 needs a buddy, he's very laid-back, sometimes quiet, plays sax and bass guitar and loves games. Looking forward to meeting you all in person.

Haddonfield family with DS15, see ya real soon.

My DD9 has been able to chat with a couple of other girls from the cruise and she's really enjoying it! Now my DS11 would like to do it, too! Any other DS's in that age range that would like to coorespond by email? Mine loves video games, board games, lego's, etc... :)

I finally got around to updating the DIS list for our fast approaching cruise. We have well over 100 people accounted for on this list (not including folks like Lisa (disneylover5) who are traveling with their own small country).

If I've missed anyone or have your information wrong, drop me a line.

jsfein - Wow-great list! I've also got my parents coming along, so that's 2 more! Thanks! :)

Jencav 5- My DS 12 will email your son. His cousin who is 11 will also be on the cruise. I will PM you with my son's email address.

jsfein- My sister-in-law and husband will also be on the cruise with us.
Thanks for making the list.

We're also traveling with my mom and her husband, so you could add 2 if you felt inclined to do so!

In other news, I went to Michael's last night for a few Disney items. I found the magnetic sheets with which to make door signs. As we don't have a color printer, I bought stickers - the fancy scrapbooking kind. The kids each picked out a character and I built a montage around that. I had letter stickers at home so I was able to put their names on them (I read that personalization makes them less prone to theft...I hope so!). I did a small door magnet for my mom and I still have to do ours.

What I didn't find was a frame for my DVC giclee. Kinda bummed, but I'm sure I'll find something. I'm headed to AC Moore next.

See you all in 3 weeks or so!!!!

--Michelle

PS Jason....LOVE LOVE LOVE your trip report!!!! We're going to have to check out the Judges tent on the 3rd...we're in MK on Friday before the cruise. That would be awesome if we get as lucky as you were on your last night!

jencav5, JCLNJ, & pklein09 -- I edited your travel group, but the changes are only reflected in the original post on Page 11 of the thread. I'll bump the list back to the top of this thread again in a few days for those not on the DIS 24/7.

Michelle -- thanks for the kind words regarding the trip report. I soooooo toyed with the idea of hitting MK on Nov. 3, but figured it would be difficult with the grandparents. DW mentioned something today about hitting Downtown Disney before we drive to Cape Canaveral. Have a great time in MK!!

I looked on www.cruisecal.com and I found out how many other ships will be sharing "our" ports with us.

Key West - Tha Magic is the only ship this day. We have the town to ourselves

Grand Caymen - Only the Carnival Mircale will be there with the Magic. last time I was there, we shared with 4 other ships.

Cozumel - More crowded here, Carnival Mircale, Ryndam, Holiday, Enchantment of the Seas, and the Magic.

Castaway Cay - Of Course, only the Magic!!

I have been looking at Jimmy Buffett's new Grand Caymen Cafe.....maybe I will go there for a drink.

3 weeks from tonight I will not be able to sleep
