101st lost some mail...

I heard from Titus today that the 101st lost a lot of mail in a fire. He didn't say in the email how it had happened but I read on another message board that the mail truck was firebombed. Not good, I don't know yet if any of our packages to Titus were destroyed or not. To tell the truth though I'd rather our packages to him were destroyed than the ones he sends to us because he sends back used disposable cameras and those pics are worth an awful lot to us.

***Ok, the person who posted that this was the result of a firebomb on another board I frequent must have been mistaken because Ashli asked Titus about it and he said that it just caught fire because of the high temperatures there and that those kinds of things just happen.*** I wouldn't have bothered with an update but I didn't want to leave incorrect information hanging out on the DIS board.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't a bomb. That stinks that those guys lost mail thou...
Time to put out the alert where I work! I will let the guys at work know this happened and we will send some things out to Titus. You and Ashli must have been a mess, thinking it could be a bomb.

It is very kind of you to make such an offer but it's probably not necessary for Titus. I'm sure that his family as well as ours will be sending out replacement packages asap. In actual value the packages that we send Titus aren't too high. Brownies, candy, magazines, and disposable cameras don't add up to too much $ but the included letters are a real morale booster and I hate it that our soldiers are losing those. But to anyone else that may be sending mail to a soldier in the 101st, especially if you know they are at Q west (one of our bases in Iraq) you might want to send a replacement package because apparently this was a large quanity of mail. Titus said 9 or 10 pallets worth for the soldiers stationed in Mosul. Oh well, these things happen and in a war situation this really doesn't measure up as a big deal.
