100th day of School

I bought the multi colored beaded fringe which is attached to the binding, counted 100 pieces of fringe and sewed it to the bottom of DD's denim vest.

When DS had to do this, we went by McDonald's, and asked for 5 of the red french fry boxes. Then we picked up a few sheets of yellow foam, and used my rotary paper cutter to cut them into 100 "french fries".

In kindergarten, my daughter glued 100 pieces of elbow macaroni to a poster board and spelled put her first name. It looked very cute and she tried to use the same number of pieces for each letter. She was way more anal about it than I would have been.

I am enjoying this post.. thanks for the great ideas!

My daughter had to take 100 of something this week and she took the candy "Smarties" . You could take and old small pair of jeans and glue them to the jeans and say she made a pair of "Smartie Pants" :rotfl2: . Anyway, my daughter really took them and it was a cute idea.

I have twins in first grade... so 2 projects for us!

Ours have to be 100 things on posterboard so here's what we've come up with: DS loves Cheerioes and wants to glue them on the posterboard in the shape of the number 100. DD wants to punch out 100 Mickey heads with my Paper Shaper and glue them on in the shape of a Mickey head.

Guess you know what we're doing Sunday after church!!

We did this one by using stuff in the pantry. We glued 100 mini marshmellows to a poster board one year! I was surprised when I picked up the poster from school a few weeks later and most of the marshmellows had been "eaten" off!!!:confused3

All of your projects sound so great! They're all very different from each other too! Great ideas! My DS--1st grade--has to take 100 items (same thing) AND dress as if he's 100 years old! Any suggestions as to how to dress him as if he's 100 years old?:)

Black socks with sandles, and waist band of pants pulled up to his armpits?

We cut out a Mardi Gras type mask from heavy cardboard and decorated it with 100 colored feathers. It really turned out beautiful. :)

DS is in 1st grade and has to bring the 100 items in again like in K - I wanted something different this year, too. I saw in Parents magazine this week that they had done a huge cookie - they used sugar cookie refrigerated dough - rolled it out into a big cookie and then they put 100 chocolate chunks into the cookie and baked it - they decorated it by writing on it "100th Day of School" - ds really liked it, but I didn't know if it would fly for the project because it's something they display in the hallway, but his teacher loved the idea and said they'd take a picture of his and then the class could eat it! Tammy

we did this too! The only difference was I had a long loaf pan that I used for a 1 and two pie plates that were shaped as 0's. We also used m&ms for the 100 pieces! Here I was thinking I was creative and it was in a magazine!!!

something else we shared with the class was trail mix. We mixed up 100 of each cheese it's , marshmellos, choc chips, pretzels, chex cereal, cheerios, whatever, put it in a large ziploc mixed it up and took it for snack! The kids really loved it!

For one hundred years old: I like the previous ideas (esp. the high waisted pants :rotfl: ).
Baby powder in his hair to make it look gray. And have him crinkle up his face (purse and pout lips, squint eyes, etc) and with a light eye liner trace his wrinkles.
I am so impressed by these posts of dedicated and creative moms! I think we just glued something on a poster board. Didn't put much thought into it. You all are making it so fun for your kids!

My friend's DD drew an ocean scene on a piece of poster board & glued on 100 goldfish crackers

Just wondering...

was the original idea to dress as if you are 100 years old or rather to dress as if you were living 100 years ago? as in, old style of clothing

My daughter and I had a lot of fun with this one - we did 100 decorated mini-clothes pins! You know the ones with a clip. We got out all the glitter glue and markeres and decorated them and then clipped them in order on a stand I built out of foam poster board. (you could also clip them to a ribbon) Some we did super easy - smeared it with glitter glue and added some polka dots in another color. Some we made into Disney Princesses - Ariel, Cinderella, etc. Some were school themed - ND (Notre Dame), her school. We had clips with each family members name on it. Clips with soccer balls, etc... We only numbered the "tens" clips - 10, 20, 30, etc. to 100. And with all 4 family members decorating it really didn't take much time.

The kids loved looking at them and we still have it 4 years later.

Have fun!

Kids will eat anything, huh?!:rotfl:

DD was so into dogs, she wanted 100 dog pictures! She decided to put them on a mobile and she cut pictures from dog magazines, calenders and we used a few stickers! She finally got to 100 and she was so proud of herself. It looked so cute, we hung it in her room when it came home from school.

Initially, I wondered the same thing too, but it said to dress as if you were 100 years old.

My ds LOVES legos and we have tons. We hot glued 100 of them to a t shirt...very cute and colorful and reflected his personality!! Did not cost us a dime....we already had plain t shirt, hot glue and legos to spare!
