I've been thinking about buying a DVC for a while. Anyway, they just sweetened the deal. I got this via email today:

Experience unforgettable family vacations for years to come. When you purchase a minimum real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort before January 15, 2009, receive a complimentary Disney vacation* getaway plus a $1,000 Gift Card that you can use during your trip.

The free vacation is a 5-night stay in a 1-BDRM villa. That's an awesome deal.

$1000 + a free vacation

New email from DVC:

Experience unforgettable family vacations for years to come. When you purchase a minimum real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort before January 15, 2009, receive a complimentary Disney vacation* getaway plus a $1,000 Gift Card that you can use during your trip.

The free vacation is a 5-night stay in a 1-BDRM villa.

I received an email for the offer and it says minimum 220 points. If less, then it would be a 3 night stay. Here is the fine print:

"The complimentary Disney vacation includes accommodations for 5 nights in a one-bedroom accommodation at any Disney Vacation Club Resort, is available only to first-time purchasers, and requires the purchase of 220 or more vacation points. For purchases equal to 160 or more vacation points, purchasers receive a 3-night stay in a one-bedroom accommodation at any Disney Vacation Club Resort. Reservations must be booked by and stays must be completed by October 3, 2009, or the offer expires. Accommodations subject to availability. Restrictions apply. Only valid on select Disney Vacation Club Resorts."

This is available for first-time purchasers. Looks like I need to give them a call!!

Just wondering, is this in addition to developer points, or in place of them?

DVC usually talks about the developer points as a "free vacation" so I'm 99% sure they are the same thing.

Will this new offer replace the -$5 per point and developer points they offered before????

This seems to good to be true? Do you think that the same offer will be extended to add-on contracts?

I might be interested in this type of offer if it becomes available for an add on. popcorn::
We are considering adding on at BWV or BC. Might entice us to act a little quicker:thumbsup2

I concur, I am going to the DVC Travel Show in Rochester hoping to add-on with a BLT contract but am looking for a WOW deal. This is certainly one that would WOW us to add-on.

So, it would make sense (I think) that this would be referring to the developer points, but would the $1000 be in addition to this?

I guess I'm not seeing this as such a great deal. You get an additional $200 but you don't matching Developer's points, instead you get 3-5 nights in a 1 bdrm (subject to availability)

If I buy 160 points I get three nights 1 bdrm "free". Even if I choose AKV Concierge level 3 nights at Premier season is only 135 pts even if such a thing was available.

Now for 160 developer's points I can stay a full week at SSR in a 1 bdrm in Magic season (March)and have some points left over for a couple nights at DLR. Or I can stay 5 nights in a studio in March and a full week in a studio in September. And I still get an $800 gift card.

I am new to this so maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture, but I'd rather have the Developer's points for maximum value.

I agree. This isn't a "wow" to me.

The $1000 gift card isn't an add-on to the $5, $6.25 or $8 off per point...it's a replacement for it. You pay the full $104 or $112 per point.

And depending upon the fine print, the "free vacation" appears to have a lower value than Developer's Points. The fine print doesn't specifically exclude weekends (although it does have the ambiguous "restrictions apply".) If you can book weekends, this offer will probably be a little better for some dates and resorts than a fixed amount of Developer's Points. But if these are all weekday stays, I think the value is lower than the DPs.

Without the discount of at least $5.00 then I agree this is not a great deal.

I am confused about this new offer. We had planned to go next summer and stay at AKL. Now we are thinking it would be a better use of that money to put it toward DVC. But I am looking at around a 320-400 point purchase broken into at least 2 contracts. Matching points would get me a week in a two bedroom at SSR with points left over. It is my understanding that matching points must be used at SSR. So is this a new offer of a 5 night stay or what?

Pretty sure the term "first time buyer" means this is not available for add ons.

As an almost-new-DVCer I think you must use your money for paying the DVC instead of using it for staying at a resort, but it depends in how frequently you travel to WDW.

If you buy it you must travel as this:

1.- You must go each year and to use your points and avoid to loose them.

2.- You must go every other year, in wich case you can bank points from one year to another (or borrow from the next year to use this year) and have a double amount of points you have bought, Wow!!!

3.- Or you must go at least once in the middle of two years, in this case you must bank points from the first year to the second and borrow points from the third to the same "middle year" to get a total of "THREE TIMES OF YOUR TOTAL POINTS"!!! double WOW....

And yes it seems to be a new offer instead the developer points (that are the same amount of your total purchase of points), because in that offer you receive the same points you bought for free for using it until October 3rd. In that case if your total amount was for a 2BR then you will receive a 2BR free for a hole week and more than that a $5 of per point wich is best to save that money that based on the amount of points could save you (if you buy 400 points) up to $2,000.

A lot more compared to the $1,000 gift card (that you can only use buying at Disney stores) and the 5 day vacation.

If you already have a guide that said you about the first offer you could ask her to maintain you the same, but if you don´t, I don´t think so.
