I'm absolutely stumped.
And I figured there has to be someone on DIS that can help! :)

Yesterday I shower-steamed the gown twice for 10 minutes, today I did it again for 20 minutes, then ironed it on a low setting, then on a higher setting through a towel... and it is still wrinkly!! :(

There is one specific wrinkle in the front that falls around my thigh that still has the wrinkle from being folded in the bag. It's the only one that's still really intense, but I really want to get rid of it.

I have to sing at my Baccalaureate ceremony tonight so I want my gown to look good(I'm having enough trouble thinking about how I'm going to have my hair because I have to take off my cap when I sing! :scared: )

If any of you have a suggestion as to what I can do I'd really appreciate it!! It's yellow and as the subject says - 100% polyester.

My mom was contemplating putting it in the dryer.. would that be safe for it?

Thank You!!

Get a spray bottle filled with water, spray the whole thing down to get it damp and run your hand over to get out the wrinkles. Just keep spraying until they are gone. Then toss it in the dryer until done. Polyester should be fine, but don't put it on the highest dryer heat just in case.

The shower thing has never worked for me. Tossing something in a dryer doesn't work as well unless it is slightly damp.

The spray bottle works on all fabrics for me and how I usually get my clothes wrinkle free when traveling. though I let them air dry over night instead of tossing in the dryer

Try the steam setting on the iron in a not obvious area. If you can directly steam the wrinkle you should be ok.
But I really just wanted to say Good Luck tonite and I bet nobody will be looking at your gown! Congratulations!:cheer2:

I agree with Helenabear. If that doesn't work, ask a friend or neighbor if they have a clothes steamer. They usually take the wrinkles out of everything.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I ended up spraying it and putting it in the dryer and it worked really well... Someone actually commented to my mom that my gown was so flowy and un-packaged looking when I was on stage.. haha! I threw it in right before I left for Graduation last night as well and it looks really good in the pictures :)

I would check the label before you do anything. DS's says do not wash, dry or dry clean!

And...if people are sitting fairly far away, they're not going to see any wrinkles. :)

OK...I think I'm a little slow here...you asked two days ago. Sorry.

Yay! I am glad it worked so well. Like I said I do that with all my clothes (though hang dry if I can). They actually turn out looking better than the job I do with ironing ;) I forgot to say congratulations too!
