I have a $100 coupon when you open a Chase total checking account and set up direct deposit.

Yes! Once you do your first direct deposit, they will deposit the $100 into your account within 10 business days. You have 60 days from account opening to make your first direct deposit. They will treat the $100 as interest and you will get a 1099 statement for your taxes next January. We've done this deal so many times. Made around $500 this way.
