$100.00 Disney credit for attending presentation

Well our daughter attended her one hour DVC presentation in exchange for $100 Disney dollars. No pressure, actually quite pleasant (as pleasant as a presentation can actually be) and she did receive her Disney dollars without any problem. She was able to put it towards the charges she made while at the resort-so it covered meals, etc.
We received MB when we bought in '99-which was great. And of course the cost per point was less-so I guess those were our incentives.
It will be interesting to see what happens as BCV gets closer to being sold out and Saratoga Springs opens (we live close to Saratoga Springs).

Does anyone know how long this offer will last? We are heading down next weekend for the specific purpose of checking it out. An extra hundred bucks would be very useful (Especially since we have now spent close to $300 on DVC and have nothing to show for it... but that's another story (or two))

Nette- I wouldn't make an appt. before you go!! Sometimes they only offer the incentive to those who aren't there to "check it out".

We found an invitation with the $100 offer in our room when we checked into WL two days ago. We did the open house on our last visit in January and they gave us $60 in food vouchers then as a "thank you". We wanted to talk to the agent we met in January today so we went to a kiosk yesterday and made an appointment. Without asking she said that we'd get $100, we said we already attended an open house in January, got the food vouchers, and didn't want to abuse the system. She said "Oh, we get people like that, but I can tell you aren't one of them." We met the agent again today, and got the same "zero pressure" style from him... and he handed us two $50 Disney Dollar certificates on the way out. We did agree to buy (160 at WLV), but given the guy's style the $100 would have been given to us regardless of the outcome of today's meeting.

I think that our offer of counter lunch passes was made by someone at the desk in WL. I stopped by to ask some questions that I had always had. I was not looking for anything. The vouchers are not the reason that I took the tour. The reason that we took the tour, is that we were seriously consinger dvc, and wanted to see the rooms and ask some questions.

Our guide is Gib McCain. Great guy. We sent thru the whole speil. I said something like... We made a promise to ourselves that when we decided to take this tour we would not buy until later. He said "not a problem." That he was there to answer our questions. He said that the product sells itself. He answered all of questions, and said that his notes said that we should receive some food counter vouchers. He left the room to arrange our van ride. While he was gone, my dw and I discussed and came up with a couple more questions. He answered them when he returned and we were on our way. We bought over the phone 3 days later after we had returned home.

NO PRESSURE.
Great Experience. Great Guide. Great Knowledge. NO PRESSURE.

I was recently at BWI and received an invitation (looked like a wedding invitation) to attend the DVC presentation. It included information on the $100 offer (Disney Dollars).

What I found to be especially interesting was that I had talked to a Guide in 2001 about DVC over the phone and was matched with that same Guide when I entered the presentation. My name apparently was still in the system, and I wonder if there might be some rhyme or reason to the people that receive the invites. Obviously DVC knew who I was when I got there, which makes me think they knew me when I checked into BWI and somehow cross-reference this information with DVC.

Needless to say, I was more than happy to take the tour because I had been considering DVC for a couple of years.

There money was well-spent. I didn't purchase immediately, but thought it over for a month or so before calling up my Guide to take the plunge.

BTW, the Disney dollars are as good as cash on Disney property. I did find that some of the smaller vendors were not familiar with them though.

We did the tour at BW last Wednesday after my wife and a friend who was with us stopped to talk to Bob at the sales center on one of their Boardwalk strolls. He promised them dinner for the three of us anywhere at DisneyWorld. Given our friend was very interested in BCV and we were warming to a BWV add-on (we have OKW points), the tour was worth the time. Our guide, Betty P., came over to meet us and give the tour. It was the same low key presentation as always. Our friend made it clear that she couldn't buy until she got home and discussed it all with her hubby. There was no pressure and lots of information provided to read later. When the presentation was over, we got three food certificates good for most of the counter services, but not "anywhere at Disney". The vouchers did save us $51 on a Beaches & Cream lunch, so I'm not complaining one bit.

Our guide did mention that she was one of sixty guides and that the remaining BCV points could already have been "reserved" by one of the other guides. I'd say that with that many guides working for DVC, a few bad apples/tough sell types may make it into the mix. I would hope that DVC would ferret them out quickly. Our guide is a DVC owner and was one before going to work there. I do feel that DVC tries to take the high road as a policy as I have never found any of the DVC hosts to be high pressure.

I wonder if it has to do with ALL of the other "timeshares" in the industry doing the same point system as Disney.

Hilton, Marriot, we just attended one called Bluegreen, and they all offer the same point type structure, with no lock in dates/week, travel when you want, to any of their resorts system. Most of which have MUCH LOWER annual dues than Disney, longer time frame of use, and some with low pressure sales tactics.

Competition?
Marriott does not have a points system. The closest they have is the chance to trade for rewards points, essentially FF miles.

We attended presentation last Sept...HOT day at AK, and the promise of "no pressure, airconditioning, and lemonade" and the clincher was "kidsclub free" for the hour presentation! ;) I know - bad parenting...pleasantly surprised to find $50 meal vouchers waiting for us back at the Polynesian...deserts at the Kona Cafe:)
