I've asked on various threads about food!!! My 10 year old (we're from the UK) is currently undergoing diagnostic process for ASD. He doesn't have a problem with queuing, little sensitive to noise, problems with speech and understanding but a definite problem with new foods. Looked at Allears menus to try and choose places for making ADR's but I'm still worried about getting over there and us wanting to eat in places where there is nothing suitable for him. He only eats chicken nuggets, fish fingers, sausages and chicken breast. I've read sometimes people ask for something not on the menu and get it, does this apply to most places? Having never visited WDW before there are so many lovely sounding places to eat just wondered if he could sit with us while we eat, sounds selfish to make him do this but its our holiday too and we would have to sit with him while he ate at say MacDonalds. There are a few buffets we want to do too, I know these will be a good idea but then there is the amount of money we have to pay for him (being classed as adult) and him only eating very little!

We have a daughter with food allergies and we always have the option of speaking with the chef beforehand.

When you make your ADRs, ask for the phone numbers for the restaurants. You can either call a few days before or speak to the chef directly when you are seated.

We have never had a problem, even when the chef needed to make something that was not on the menu (and that's happened several times).

Good luck and have a magical vacation!

My youngest son has very similar food issues...... He'll eat chicken nuggets, grilled cheese sandwiches, toast or mashed potatoes. He does have significant sensory problems as well.

We at at a variety of different places at WDW..... and we didn't have any problems. Chicken nuggets are a staple on any kids menu.

I really don't think you'll have problem.

Good luck!

Disney should accomodate your son's needs happily!

As for buffets, might I suggest MK Crystal Palace....the children's selection will suit you fine.

Blessings, Sandra

Thanks for the reassurance. There are so many place we would like to try and I was worried about accommodating DH and my other son. With a SN child you seem to spend so much time thinking of them and forget other family members. I know he won't 'starve' but when trying him with something different he makes such an issue out of it. Tried him with pizza today and you would think I was trying to poison him!!! :confused3 I'm spending hours pouring over the menus and where we'll be on what day etc. its driving me nuts.
