Fox news is reporting that a 10 year old child was struck and killed by a disney bus. Happened near Fort Wildreness resort. :sad1:

My prayers go out to him and his family.

I know oh my goodness!! What's going on with the bus drivers? I know the most recent incident is unrelated but Disney buses seem to be having issues. Bless his family! My prayers go out to them for sure!!
I immediately got up and came to the boards to see what info is here!

I just read about this on one of the news sites. How horrible. :sad2: Apprently the boy and his friend were riding their bikes at Fort Wilderness without adult supervision? The bus hit the boy who was wearing his helmet. My thoughts and prayers go to this family. I cant imagine how horrible it would be to go to a place like DW for vacation and lose your child. :sad1:

With all the bus accidents recently Disney is really going to have to earn some trust back I think.

** I am not blaming anyone/thing for this tragedy. Simply stating my opinion as it is hard to read anything about Disney currently without having the media mention the numerous transportation accidents that occurred recently. **

Such a tragedy for everyone. Thoughts & prayers to all involved.

Makes me think I don't appreciate my kids and their health near enough...

With all the bus accidents recently Disney is really going to have to earn some trust back I think.

Eyewitnesses apparently have reported that the child actually swerved from the path into the side of the bus, then was pulled underneath. In that case, there was really nothing the driver could have done. That doesn't make it any less tragic.

News here is reporting that the boy turned off a pathway and onto the roadway striking the side of the bus. I have always wondered about safety with kids at FW and the buses driving through the campground. No easy solution other than parents making sure kids stay out of roadways.

Just wondering if any of the rest of you got a PM from one of the drivers? Mine is as follows:
You just knew that you were going to get called out on that statement.
Hopfully you've seen the latest on the incident. It doesn't appear, at this point at least, that there was anything going on with the bus driver.
Being there with the drivers when the news came out, you can't believe how distraught and sad they all were regarding the loss. It was a long night.
Just like in the general population there are good and bad drivers. There are over 1100 bus drivers, so there is bound to be some that are not up to par. I wish Disney had some way of weeding them out but unless they're at fault in an accident, they keep driving. It' still safer to take a WDW bus than to drive a car there. I see many many more automobile accidents than bus accidents.

I replied back that I in no way was meaning implication on the part of the specific driver in question. I explained that I was wondering if there were blindspots, being over worked, etc. So I just wanted to say to anyone reading this thread, I was not implying anything about the driver in this case. I think the Disney drivers will be under great scrutiny over the next few months. It's unfortunate for them.
Still lifting the family in my prayers!

I don't blame the driver, so I apologize if my statement made it appear that way. I just mean the media (at least most things I read) are sure to point out the numerous accidents that have occured recently regarding Disney transportation. I think it will cause a lack of trust in certain people who attend the parks. I have never used the Disney transportation as we always have our car, but would not have any problems doing so. I can't even imagine how the driver must be feeling, regardless of it not being his/her fault. Everyone involved continues to be in my prayers. :grouphug:

It did sound as tho you immediately blamed the bus driver--along with Tinkerbelleabbysmom and most of the media-- until what ACTUALLY happened became known.

how heartbreaking for the family and traumatic for the employess too:sad2:
