$10 Per Point at SSR Ending.....

Hopefully this info will be helpful to someone contemplating purchase at SSR........

We purchased at SSR yesterday & our guide told me that she received a memo that the $10 off per point promo at SSR was going to be ending soon. (I thought she said February 5th or 6th).

She left me a message today saying that MS was very backed up with all of the new contracts, but again stated that with the promo ending, all of the new contracts were no surprise.

I don't imagine that she told me that to get us to buy, because she said it after she knew that my mind was already made up to purchase.....

Since we're getting so close to the Phase 2 buildings beginning to open, my guess is that they'll replace the $10 off promotion with Magical Beginnings. Under MB, buyers can still get the $10 off per point, but they will probably be asked to forfeit their 2005 points.

Or I could be wrong.

Maybe we're meant to hold off until we get word of a new DVC resort.

I received a mailing from DVC this week which says:

"Join Disney Vacation Club by February 28th and you can receive a complimentary Disney vacation or a credit of at least $1500 toward the cost of your Membership."

Well.....with all of the excitement, my ears must have been clogged.....

We just returned from the Member Update at SSR and part of the presentation was directed at the end of the current promotion on February 28. Nothing was mentioned about what, if anything, would be offered after that date, but I'd expect a MB type program to continue.

Some Use Years for Phase I are sold out and March and April for Phase II are also sold out. I asked a guide afterwards about any pending price increases and he indicated that nothing has been decided or announced yet, but since the last increase was last April, he expected an increase by this May. He also "suggested" that the new pricing would likely top the century mark ($100 per point). At this time, only OKW, HH and VB points are available at the other resorts and points for VWL, BWV and BCV are only trickling in. (They had 285 points at BCV last week- now gone to those on the waitlist.) If you want points at any of the sold out resorts, be sure to call your guide and get on the waitlist. EVen if points become available, they will need to be in your Use Year unless you will purchase more than 150.

The update showed a site plan for SSR and indicated the area for the final phase of 6 buildings- the area occupied by the Fairway Villas (many of these were damaged in the hurricanes). Construction trailers are beginning to congregate near those buildings, suggesting the impending demolition and site prep for the third phase.

The next building to open at SSR (about 8 more weeks) is getting finishing touches and landscaping is in place around the building already. All of the remaining Phase II buildings are taking shape and appear to be on schedule for completion in the upcoming months.

What is the going rate per point at SSR right now anyway?

The current price for SSR is $95 per point, but with the incentives available thru the end of February, new purchases can be made for $85 per point for the yet-to-be-opened buildings in Phase II.

Purchases of the sold-out resorts thru DVC are at $89 with no incentives available at this time.
