Hello all. I just checked out the portable perks for our upcoming trip. In the past, I had not given the DVC dining discounts much thought because they seemed mostly for lunch. Now, they almost all include dinner, too! Although there are no MK restaurants listed, there are a decent amount of others.

I apologize if this is already well known and I am just catching up. For me, I was on the fence as to whether TIW was going to make sense for our trip since it is just me and my three children's menu kids for this trip. So this makes things a little easier without getting TIW or DDP!:)

You are right, every little bit helps. We do have TIW and use it but sometimes we don't want a table service meal, even saving 20%.
Our favorite place to save the 10% is Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD.

I used this perk last week for dinner at Captain's Grille. I was pleased that the server also took away my DVC card along with my room card (which did have DVC member on it) when the time came to pay.

The perks have definitely improved when it comes to dining discounts. As the OP said, it used to be restricted mostly to lunches. Other restrictions also used to be that the discount was only on the entree at some locations.

We still go mostly with our TIW card at TS locations, but it certainly is nice to see the Portable Perks book getting thicker.

Between my Premium AP's, My DVC Card and the TIW card, I'm getting a discount somewhere, somehow! Ask when paying, all they can say is No! So far Teppan Edo I think is the only one who doesn't want to play! You can even get a discount on your Girardelli's ice cream and many gift and specialty shops!

Don't forget the Disney Visa and D23, too.

With the new and improved DVC discounts and the PAP dropping from 20% to 10%, it's a far more-complicated discount matrix in 2013. I'll have to make up another one of my laminated "which discount is best here" cards again for our next trip. I haven't needed that for several years. In 2012, I pretty much knew the best discount was always the TIW for dining and the PAP for purchases. The only places I can remember actually using a DVC discount was at Fantasia Mini-Golf.

Must be something about Japan......the only place I was denied a discount for merchandise was the shop in Japan. Bought $25 worth of candy and was told absolutely no discount. :(

I thought that Earl of Sandwich only discounts for a AAA card. Do they take other discounts also?

We at Sanaa last month and at the bar there is no discount and then the server at the restraunt said it was only for lunch I then went to the website and showed them the diner discount which they gave me.

Teppan Edo will play the discount game if you use an AP at lunch time. It's 10% during lunch hours with the AP.

And according to the passholder webpage, it's only for lunch during the week.

It's probably b/c that stuff is expensive to begin with. We have a few japanese markets around us and the candy there is priced the same as Japan Epcot.
