10 days - too long?

We did 10days last year. It was the perfect length of time. We did go to the parks every day at least for a little while. We got to do all of our favorite attractions multiple times. We got in plenty of swimming, shopping, and resort hopping as well.

When the day of our departure came, we were ready to go home. We didn't feel like we had missed anything. We liked our 10days so much that we already have another 10days booked next Aug.

10 days sounds good to me. :thumbsup2 So good in fact, I'll think I'll leave Friday for a 2 week vaction with a 10 day park hopper. :rotfl:

We've staying off-site with planned down days. The 10 day park hopper gives us the flexibility to spend as much (or as little) time on those days without feeling so rushed. party:

Ten days sound great! Me, DH and DS-9 are going for 8 days and will only be doing the 4 main parks and DTD. My son would love to go to a water park and DQ but we just don't have enough time for that (we will NOT do commando style touring). We have all 8 days filled including pool time and rest periods.

As stated above, just do a relaxing vacation and I'm sure you will all have a great time! :sunny:

We flew home on our 10th day in September, and I think that was the perfect amount of time. We had 7 day park hopper passes, and used both of our flying days for down time, swimming, DTD, exploring different resorts, etc. and we also had an extra day to throw in the middle when we needed the break!

I'm planning a trip for Jan. 2007. We have the time to stay for 10 days at WDW. At first glance, it seems relatively reasonable to add on more days once you pass the 4-day mark (tickets don't cost alot more, so it's mainly hotel and food). We are a family of 5, and so I think we will stay at POR. I'm leaning toward NOT getting the dining plan.

I'm just wondering if 10 days is too long to spend at WDW. Will we get theme-parked out? If not, does anyone have suggestions on an itinerary for those 10 days (our 3 kids, all girls, will be 11, 11, and 8). We'd like to do a couple of extra cost things (water skiing, a character meal, Hoop De Doo), but beyond that we don't want to spend more $ than we have to.

(Or is it better to go for a shorter time and do more things like character dining, Cirque du Soleil, etc.?)

Also, for a 10-day stay, assuming we'll do some time at a water park and Disney Quest, do we need the 10-day tickets? Or would, say an 8-day ticket with the water park/Disney Quest privileges be better?

Thanks!

At first I thought this was a joke ~ Can you ever spend too much time at WDW?? Not for our family. We usually go for 12 days and I always leave feeling it was never enough time. 10 days is a great length of time to go especially with kids in tow. People traveling without children may have a different experience. 10 days gives you the opportunity to do what we refer to as "secondary things" For example EPCOT has these wonderful things called Kidcot stations throughout the park. They are special little arts & crafts tables for the kids to have fun at. The land pavilion also has a Nestle booth where kids can go and bake tollhouse cookies  . The World showcase also has kid passports that you can get a stamp in each country. Going for 10 days eases the pressure of I can't waste ride time doing that . Journey to Imagination has a great phot lab where the kids can morph their faces onto animals , flowers etc and then email them for free home to themselves, friends, grandparents etc.. Each park has wonderful things to explore. 10 days also gives you the opportunity to visit DTD which the kids loved. Goofys candy kitchen was a blast. There are several threads about how much fun it was. I would highly recommend splitting your stay at 2 resorts. We always do and its like 2 vacations in one. Each resort is its own little oasis, we always try to stay at a magic kingdom resort and then a resort near the other parks. If you haven't stayed at AKL I would urge trying it out its a destination all its own. My kids loved the animals outside their balcony and there was tons of special kids programs cooking at Boma, stories, animal programs etc... You also can relax at some character meals and not worry at how much time its taking. They have special little programs like the Princess Tea party at GF, Adventures in cooking, a pirate cruise. Or you can take the girls to your own tea party at the GF.
 I'm not a real WDW travel agent but I play one on TV (LOL) OK I'll be quite now. Enjoy your trip and as we all know here a large part of the pleasure of a WDW vacation is in the planning. Have FUN!!! :tink:

We were there last year for 10 days, and we were in the parks all ten days. I have to admit that 10 was too much when we went from sun up till park close. This year we are planning 9 days and will go most days but relax more, not spend all day at the park, and see the parks in a leisurely fashion. I'm not sure the 4 yo dd would agree.

Ten days is a great length for a WDW trip. Like others said it allows down time. We have done long trip with both the AP and MYW passes and one of the advantages of this is that we can visit the parks every day. We like to take even a couple of hours in the parks on our down days.

I asked the kids if they would rather have a shorter vacation and stay someplace nicer with the meal plan or stay at POP and have a long vacation no meal plan and they imediately said stay longer.

OUr first trip was too short and it was 10 days long and we actually stayed 2 more days offsite to get more of the mouse! Once you are there you don't want to go. This year we are staying 8 nights at SSR and then 3 more just outside of park just because we don't want to leave.

Nope 10days is DEFINATELY not too long!
Last Aug DS13 & I spent 8nights at VWL then 6nights at BCV
This Aug we're staying 5nights VWL, 3nights AKL and 6nights BCV

Our past 3 family trips have been for 10-12 days. It's the perfect amount of time for us, because we're able to see the parks and have an actual lounging around the pool kind of vacation. :goodvibes
