So far we have gone from planning a 7 night trip to a 10 night trip. Now I'm considering extending it to 2 full weeks. My husband has the time available from work and we are considering september during free dining. We would be staying at the AS Movies. I've looked at my budget and I can save the money up before we go. What are your opinions? Is it worth going in the heat and rain or september? Can we get packages for 2 weeks or would I have to book 2 packages of 7 days or a 10 day and a 4 day? Should we add the pluses to our tickets?

Thanks everyone for your advice.

My vote is the longer the better if you can afford it. Personally 2 weeks doing the parks every day would be way too much for me. Instead, I would suggest breaking it up and plan to stay at the hotel for a couple of the days just to swim and relax. Maybe go to Universal or Sea World for a day. You can book the room for the length of stay but tickets run in 10 day blocks. I'd get the pluses if your family enjoys the waterparks.

I don't think that free dining has been announced yet so keep your fingers crossed for that. We love going in September strictly because of the low crowds. We have encountered rain but really it's only afternoon showers. In 4 Sept trips, we have only had one unbelievable storm (that had us hiding under the cover at Pirates of the Caribbean). We also go at the beginning of September so I've never seen a love bug. Apparently, they are out by the end of the month. Also, don't forget that MNSSHP is running throughout the month of September this year...this requires extra tickets

Oh and I would work on this soon. Sept started accepting dining ADRs over a month ago. Restaurants are really booking up and will be completely full once free dining is announced...if it's announced.

Another thought I just had would be to book the package with a 1 day ticket and then upgrade to AP's when we get there. Can you do this without messing up your dining plan?

I went last summer for 16 days and I have to say it was one of the most relaxing Florida vacations that I've ever had. We didn't as though we had to spend every moment in the parks to see/do everything before we left. Most days we went to the parks in the morning and then spent the rest of the day at pool and relaxing. Some nights we went back at night, but not all. There were some days we didn't go to a park at all. If you have the time and the money I highly recommend it.

Yes you can do this. Dining is based on the number of nights you are staying...not by your tickets.

I've done 12 & 13 day trips...and I would go long as possible. It makes it sooo much nicer. Granted you have to wash clothes once or twice while there but really it's great. I've thought about going back but for only 5/6 days but I don't want to..I would hate to cram all of that into those few days.

Boy if I could go for 2 weeks :thumbsup2 :cool1: . I would be on :cloud9: ! It would be so great to be able to have several days to just hang at the hotel pool and get a tan :beach: and relax instead of just one and the go go go from park to park. We all go at lighting speed while we're there, how nice to be able to just go and take your time and not worry about getting everything in. I would be tempted to just get the 10 days of tickets and not get them for the other days knowing I would want to spend several days at the pool, plus we usually arrive and depart at times when we don't really have time to get to the parks.

I would do it and buy the 10 day tickets plus water park option. You could go to the parks for 10 of your days and fill the other days at water parks, DisneyQuest, checking out Downtown Disney and exploring your resort as well as checking out other Disney resorts. It would be great if you got the free Dining, think about all the restaurants you could check out. BTW we started out planning for a 6 night trip and extended it to 10 nights. I would have stayed longer if DH could have gotten more time off work.

I agree with Dismom! Go for the 2 wks!!!! I would also suggest 10 day tickets and take a few days to relax, shop in downtown disney, explore the hotels, and enjoy your pool.

Please don't hate me but I am going to give a flip side answer here... We did a 12 day trip. My kids were older late teens and believe it or not we were READY to go home. We absolutely love Disney and that is our topic of conversation several times a week but man did we get tired. GO GO GO we got to see ALOT but by the end of that trip everyone was cranky LOL I said next time 1 week at the World and then a few days elsewhere say the beach to relax :) Just wanted to give you another perspective

If you can afford to do the longer trip - that would be my choice if it were me. With a trip of that length, you could, gasp, go off property and take a day trip to the ocean without feeling like you're "missing out" on any of the WDW options. Hanging out at your resort pool, exploring other resorts, doing the non-park stuff like mini-golf, boating, horseback riding, etc are all things you could do - if you have the budget for it. We took a 12 day trip a few years back, and only got a 6 day ticket - then each day in between were filled with the options mentioned above. That was our most relaxing trip yet becasue we didn't constantly feel the need to get up and out into the parks!

Congrats on the extended vacation! If I were you I think I'd go for 7-10 days and stay at a moderate instead All Stars. We have stayed there and just don't feel it is up to Disney standards. Whatever you do I'm sure you'll have a great time!
