10 Days of Dining at Disneyland and Southern Cali with Pictures!

Only just found your reviews and have to say how much I have enjoyed them
Makes me really want to head back to DL :goodvibes

Great to read a Disneyland dining review :) Glad you had a wonderful trip. We love the Fried Green Tomato sandwich too, yum!

I could go for one of those sandwiches right now! Actually, during our february trip to DL, we tried the bumblebee cupcake from Hungry Bear for the first time. It was so delicious! I'd like that, plus a sandwich. :rotfl:

As a matter of fact, here it is!

Interesting take on dining at DL. I know two ladies (not a couple) who are each traveling on their own to DL for the first time. Neither eat meat, but I think one might eat chicken. They will enjoy reading your report for ideas.

Always take pictures of your food! Even if you don't end up posting it you won't have the option if you don't take the pictures. I loved the San Diego parts. I've eaten at the fancy part of Anthony's and really enjoyed it.

I liked the non-Disney food reports too. I need to get back out to DL and San Diego some of these days. It's been 8 years since my last In-n-Out burger.

Jill! you need to fix that!

I have never been to an In-n-Out burger! Now I don't see the point since I don't eat hamburgers, but I can't believe my parents never took me there, considering all of our summer trips to CA. You're not the first person to comment on this thread about wanting one.

I also wanted to share that In N Out has a great grilled cheese (not on menu..just ask) I love it with grilled onions and a side of hot peppers. It is served with their spread, lettuce, and tomato. I'm not sure....but the bun/cheese may be toasted on the same grill as the burgers - doesn't bother me as I am not a vegetarian....just prefer not to eat much meat.

I was going to mention this, but I'm pretty sure that they toast the buns on a separate bun toaster. They wouldn't cross contaminate. Plus almost all burger joints that do that level of volume need all the grill space for the patties so they have a bun toaster that does it in bulk.

I'm thinking 2014 might be the year. :)

Let's hope it is! It looks like you just had a lovely time in WDW based on the food pics I've seen over on the live thread! You are inspiring us to want to try Victoria and Albert's. Not this trip but maybe the next one...

Great report! I have been to DL too many times to count and your TR opened my eyes to many options I never knew about.....guess we tend to commando through the rides! Def going to try rancho del Z and Carnation Cafe (with reservation...thanks never knew to make a reservation anywhere in the parks)

Neat! Maybe one of these days we'll just pop "in n out" for a grilled cheese. :upsidedow

I'm glad you are going to take some time to relax and enjoy the food at DL. It's definitely worth it, and it's almost always nearly as fast as just grabbing something from one of the quickest burger/hot dog type places. pirate:

Thanks for your comments. I'm trying to abide by your rule: always take pictures of your food! Ha ha. When we went to DL in February, I didn't photograph everything, and once again, I regretted it. We are getting ready to go to DW now and I told DP just yesterday: "Make sure I take pictures of all of our food!" It's easy in the moment to wonder if every bucket of popcorn or scoop of ice cream needs a photo, but the dis answers that question for me. They do! :drinking1

We were actually thinking we'd hit you up for advice on the proper way to dine there. We're a little intimidated to try it, but all your reports make it seem so nice! We're hoping to do an October trip to try out food and wine. We've never experienced that. So we're thinking maybe we'll try out the V&A then. :wave2:

Feel free to hit me up! I was apprehensive and intimidated the first time too but now I'm a convert! There is a great thread on the Restaurant board devoted to V&A that I spent a lot of time on...I also read every review I could get my hands on...love ehagerty's reports and pictures.

October is fabulous month. F&W is fantastic...and it's my birthday. :rotfl:

My rule is "take it, but I don't do that for everything. We are on our way to dinner now and I won't take picturws, but if it's Disney I take pictures or if it's part of a vacation.

Please post a link here to your WdW TR!

I've never written an actual trip report (without dining), but you may be inspiring me. :) We will be writing a dining report for sure, and I will get a link in my signature. And yes, we don't take pictures of our food everywhere else, just mostly on Disney vacation. Although the other day I made myself some huevos rancheros Carnation Cafe style, and I photographed those. I couldn't help myself! :rotfl:

We'll have to check that out before October, if that trip becomes a reality. We'll be posting some sort of plea for help and advice, or we'll just send you a message directly, once we actually decide to do it. :)

Me and my DP have been to V&A's three times. Totally worth it! Once we were at the Chef's table. I csnt wait to go back; they totally bend over backwards to makeb sure you enjoy yourself. They customize your menu to your likes etc.

That is great to hear about the menu. That was one of our concerns about going there...how to approach the ovolactopescatarian diet that we eat. We're not picky eaters, but we don't eat any of the land creatures or any of their by-products including gelatin. We don't want to inconvenience anyone, but we wouldn't be happy with a standard experience, which always seems to include meat. Then again, we don't want to get boxed into a vegetarian corner either, because we enjoy seafood (especially me!).

The chefs and servers will be thrilled to accommodate your diet. I got a call a few days ahead (had my cell since I was already at WDW) where they asked me about allergies, etc. I'm sure you could call and note your diet restrictions ahead of time too. There are lots of seafood choices on the regular menu as well as an entire vegetarian menu.

You're really twisting my arm here! :lovestruc Sounds like we are just going to have to give it a try. Somehow I was under the impression they just start bringing out courses. Do you actually order each course individually, or are they all lumped together in a Dinner #1 or Dinner #2 or Dinner #3 sort of way? Have you gotten the notion that they would mind subbing an item here or there? I was always under the impression that very fine dining establishments wouldn't want to deal with, "Can you minus the bacon from that scallop?" :confused3

Looking at my menu right now....You will be given a menu with all the choices and are asked to choose every course at the beginning of the evening. I overheard another table who had allergies and their menu had been customized to remove the choices that were not compatible with their allergies. She was able to sub in choices from the vegetarian menu as well as the regular menu. I can't speak for leaving one component off the plate...I would assume if you inform them about your preferences ahead of time you won't be in the position to have to do that.

HTH a bit.
