Trip Report Day 1:

Photo1.jpg

(so you can get a visual on the characters here, more pics to come in future park days)

Here is the cast: Myself (Lesley, celebrating my 30th b-day at the world) My DH (Tim), our DS 5 (Luke) years old and our DD 2 ½ years old (Lauren). We are headed to Disney after a week in Myrtle Beach with friends, driving from Myrtle Beach to Disney on June 10th. We will stay our first night at Pop Century and then transfer to the Wilderness Lodge where we will stay 8 more nights. Total dates of trip will be June 10-19th. Here we go. ..

June 10th, it’s early . . alarm goes off in the condo we were staying in with friends at Myrtle Beach at 6:00 a.m. I hop in the shower and get ready as fast as possible, TODAY IS THE DAY. I have planned this all year I CAN’T WAIT!!! I am on cloud nine, car is all packed up, time to wake the kids so we can be on the road by 7:00. The little one wakes up no problem and is excited about going to Disney “today Disney mommy?” Yes Lauren, IT’S TODAY!!! The 5 year old DS (Luke) a little harder to awaken but is excited too. We’re hurrying out the door, having kids carry their pillows and I am holding bananas for them to eat in the car. My DS starts complaining his stomach is killing him, I tell him to eat the banana. . .you must be hungry. This continues to the point of him SCREAMING his belly hurts the whole way to the van. I pass it off as hunger and we continue on. In the car we pull out of the parking lot, Luke continues to cry and complain. At this point I start to panic a bit, what could be wrong (this kid doesn’t usually complain EVER). I feel his head, no temp. . .we MUST be o.k. We don’t make it halfway down the street, my DH looks in the rearview mirror and screams. HE’S GONNA PUKE. “NOOOO!” I think to myself, this CAN’T BE HAPPENING. I dump out contents of a bag and throw it back at him as fast as I can as I yell at Tim to stop the car. He pukes, oh yes, he pukes ladies and gentlemen. This continued for the next 3 hours in the car. I think we filled up about 10 bags and stopped countless times. THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING. I made every effort to keep my kids healthy before this vacation and now this?!? I can’t believe it. Luke falls asleep in the car, we make it to POP Century after a LONG day in the car around 5:00 p.m. Luke says he is fine, and HAS gone about 5 hours without puking now. What to think??? I don’t know. But we’re here, he’s functioning and I’m on cloud nine. We check in, and get a great room on the 4th floor in the 60’s section by Everything Pop (and we didn’t even pay for preferred – how cool!). We had dinner at Everything Pop (Luke ate a few small bites of some things and seemed fine). WE played it cool, kept asking him if he was o.k. he said he was so we forged on.

I was a little depressed because our official package didn’t start until tomorrow when we check into WL so we couldn’t go to a park tonight, I wanted to feel more MAGIC, we were so close. Instead we head to Downtown Disney and shop around. We spent way too much money on souveniers, clothing, F-day and B-day shopping (secretly of course away from one another) and just had a great time. Again, kids seemed fine. Hopped on a bus back to POP and went to the food court for some late night snacks (grapes, drinks, chips, etc.).

End of day 1:

To come in day 2: 4 a.m. wake up . . . ..(WHY???- Oh you have to find out why !!!!)

What a bad start to a trip you've been waiting for so long! Now I'm wondering if your son completely recovered for your next day - hope so!

ARGGHH! :furious: Why? Why? C'mon now - why? - sorry- good report

I so hope Luke is ok, been ill on holiday is very bad :guilty:

:sunny:

Day 2:

I am peacefully asleep in my bed dreaming of checking into the Wilderness Lodge tomorrow morning and getting my requests (a newly refurbed room w/ bunkbeds and a MK view) as I have for the past 6 months. I am planning on a 6:30 a.m. wake up call so we can eat breakfast at Everything POP, go over to the Lodge, check in, and be at MGM studios by opening at 9:00. Sometimes things just NEVER go as planned. . . . .

4:00 a.m. I hear a scream. It’s Luke. . ..NOOOOOO I am thinking to myself, not again. Out of nowhere after having a great night, he is in the bathroom puking again. Sorry not to spare the details here, but this was a nightmare. I was in the bathroom with this poor child from 4-6:30 a.m. It was coming out of both ends (I’ll stop there, I promise). He finally fell back asleep and seemed SO peaceful at 6:30 when our wake up call came. I turn on the news and (NO KIDDING) the weather report is talking about the tropical storm headed for Orlando. SERIOUSLY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME LORD??? IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE??? I couldn’t believe it. I just hung my head and looked at the t.v. and started to process everything and just had to smile, what irony.

Anyway, I woke up Tim (DH) and we started talking game plan. I said obviously we needed to let Luke sleep (although I wanted to go to MGM SO badly- last day of Star Wars Weekends you know!) I asked him to check in at WL for me. Now, you have no idea how much this effected me because I LOVE walking into that lobby and be “welcomed home” . I have agonized over what I requested and what I would say at check in to try to ensure I got those requests for months. I honestly dream about this (come on, please say I’m not the only one out there who does this). Long story short, there was a lot of pressure on Tim at this point. I send him on his way (with a detailed list as a reminder of what I wanted) as I sit in front of the television watching the weather and praying Luke will wake up o.k.

Tim calls around 7:30 saying “I did my best”. I say “O.K., break it down for me. . what did you get”. He says “Well, we got bunk beds” (o.k. GREAT) “we got a refurbished room” (WONDERFUL) “we’re on the 4th floor Magic Kingdom side (OUTSTANDING). “Oh yeah, we’re also Flag Family on Father’s Day (HOLY CRAP- THAT’S AMAZING!) O.K., so now Tim is officially “THE MAN” and he will be checking us in on all future trips.

Kids wake up around 8:00 and Luke says he’s fine. He looks fine, I can’t believe it. I hope others don’t think I’m a horrible mother here, but we head to MGM. I packed extra clothes for Luke and plastic bags (just in case). Hey, we’re here, let’s give it a try.

We get to MGM and it is sunny and wonderful despite the weather reports. Tim runs to get a Rockin’Roller coaster fast pass. I get the stroller w/ the kids. In line for the stroller Luke has to run to the restroom so I call Tim on the two way radios and he runs to meet Luke in the bathroom. Luke had a bit of diarrhea but again, seemed fine so we forge on.

We have FP’s for Rockin’ at 9:40 return time – SWEET.

We dart into Sounds Dangerous stage because I knew Jedi Mickey would be there. He was and we got to see him with no wait. INCREDIBLE. Here is a pic of that:

DisneyDay1atMGM009.jpg

I had promised Luke since we booked this trip that he could see the Power Rangers at MGM, so that is what he was most looking forward too. I had been told on Dis that they come out at 9:30 so we headed back there but the sign said 10:45 was their first visit, so we left and wanted to find something else to do. We stumbled upon people entering Millionaire and it was the Star Wars version so Tim was in Heaven!!! We went in and it was a great game. Both kids were into it and Tim loved the Star Wars Questions, great time. It exited at 10:15 perfect time to get over to Power Rangers.

As we go to Power Rangers we see the CARS coming (another favorite of my DD and DS) :

DisneyDay1atMGM011.jpg

Then came the Power Rangers. We listened carefully to the CM’s and were in position where the green ranger would come to sign autographs (my sons favorite). This happened so fast I was glad we were in the right place.

DisneyDay1atMGM017.jpg

My DD was begging to see pink ranger so we jumped in her line next and barely got a pic with her (love how DD shows her muscles to Pink Ranger in this pic) before the Rangers were summoned back to their vehicle:

DisneyDay1atMGM022.jpg

O.K. so this has been a great morning. I take the kids to the Little Mermaid show as Tim (DH) heads to Rockin’ Roller Coaster to use his Fastpass. We met up after that for lunch. After lunch I head to Rockin’ for my turn and OF COURSE it was shut down so I couldn’t ride today. (I held onto my FP and was able to use it another day though, but that later). Kids and DH saw the Playhouse Disney show while I was doing this. Here are some pics Tim took of the kids in the Playhouse show having fun:

HELLO DADDY!

DisneyDay1atMGM041.jpg

While waiting for them to get out of Playhouse I call WL to see if our room is ready, and it is. We now have a room number 4020 and I can’t wait to go check it out. Overall great day at MGM, saw Goofy at the hat meet n’ greet, saw the Star Wars parade at 11:15, just had a great first day in the parks

As we head to go to the park exit to catch the bus and my DD Lauren BEGS Tim for Cheetos at a snack stand. Being the WONDERFUL father he is he gets in line to get Cheetos and a water and tells me to head to the bus with the kids and he’ll catch up. Halfway to the bus stop it POURS down rain. Now this is one of those POURS where you can’t see in front of you it is raining so hard and the wind was literally knocking over garbage cans and signs. IT WAS HORRIBLE. WE luckily made it to the bus stop before the major portion. Where was Tim??? We waited. . . and waited. Then we see him sprinting (cheeto’s in hand) towards the bus stop. About halfway there he just stops to a walk and put his hands in the air and shrugged like “why bother” because unfortunately I was holding the bag w/ the poncho’s so he had no hope.

We get to WL, get our keys and head to the room. HEAVEN. I LOVE (did I say LOVE) these new rooms. Here are pics of our room:

Anyway I was in heaven and so happy to be “back home” I felt the vacation could truly begun.

I sat on the balcony watching the rain come down with the view of otter pond below and MK in the distance and was at peace. I didn’t care that a tropical storm was headed our way, if it rained at least we had a beautiful room and our poncho’s to make it through.

So we settled in for naps in the room (we needed them after the 4:00 early rise). We awoke and showered before heading to Epcot for dinner.

We ate at Alfredo’s for dinner. I have to admit, I wasn’t looking forward to this meal after reading reviews on the Dis, but LOVED It. We had a great server from Rome and she treated us wonderfully. Tim enjoyed a Italian beer, we had great food (Lasagna, shrimp pasta dish, wonderful bread, best ceasar salad of my life – HONESTLY) and then finished off with chocolate mousse. Here are pics from Alfredo’s

Tim in the restaurant:

Luke (very excited about the chocolate mousse that just arrived) and me:

This was a very long meal with a long time in between courses so the kids were DONE by dessert so as we waited for the bill Tim suggested I head out with the kids and he’d settle the bill (which got messed up by the way, they charged us for 4 TS credits instead of 3 since Lauren is only 2 so I had to go back in and straighten that out – oh well)

I head outside with the kids and sit down as they run around and just soak in how beautiful Epcot is. The rain had gone away and it was a BEAUTIFUL night. Low eighties, not so humid anymore and just gorgeous. I took this pic of the kids and it is one of my fav’s of the trip:

DisneyDay2and3009.jpg

After dinner we got a spot for Illuminations. We found the perfect spot in Italy right next to a handicapped only area. It was right across from a train set they had arranged for the Flower and Garden Show (today – 11th was the last day for Flower and Garden) the kids LOVED IT!. It was perfect because we could sit at the spot and keep an eye on them as they watched the train. Here is a pic of the train exhibit:

DisneyDay2and3011.jpg

I took a walk to get a drink and found a great Italian margarita. YUM.

Here was our view as the sun went down that night:

What a GREAT night! As we walked out I snapped these photo’s:

Pic of a flower and garden display. There were so many beautiful ones and we were moving to fast and it was too dark to take them:

O.K. back to WL (my homeJ ) for a nice nights sleep. We returned to wonderful turndown service:

Made a wake up call for 7:00 the next morning so we could enjoy breakfast at Roaring Forks before heading to the MK tomorrow.

What to expect on day 3: “NOOOO, IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING” , wait til’ you see what happens next, unbelievable!!!

Goodnight!!!!

I am loving your report! I had to laugh at this, though:
my DH looks in the rearview mirror and screams. HE’S GONNA PUKE
You do know, you could have tossed him an industrial sized fanny pack, right???

Seriously, though, great pics!!! Your kids are beautiful!!!
Can't wait to read more.

Thanks! Funny. . ..fanny pack - I'll have to think of that for next time :rotfl2:

Loving your report! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see what else happens. Hey, these "events" keep things interesting and something humorous to talk about in years to come.

Love the pics- what a beautiful family! I am hearin' you on the sickness thing...what's up with that? My son had a double ear infection /strep throat on the second day of our trip! You handled it like a pro- I, too, would have stayed behind and delegated the ever important check in to hubby too... that must have been hard!

Keep writing!

Looking forward to how your trip goes because I will also have a 5yr old and 2.5 yr old (DD's) on a trip in December to the World. So far it sounds like we approach getting to the parks in the same manner and I'll learn a few things.

wonderful report
you kids are adorable
love your daughters pose with the power rangers
cant wait for more

Subscribing - this is great - Awesome pictures and adorable kids! Sorry that poor little Luke isn't feeling well. Hope that chocolate mousse doesn't come back to haunt him. Hang in there - It sounds like you are having a GREAT time!! Oh, and hurry back please, I'm on the end of my seat!

On no I can't believe Luke was so sick, so sorry you had all this happening on your Special Disney Day.

I was so nervous when you were talking about letting DH check-in at Wilderness Lodge. All the pre-trip work going down in flames. Yet he did GOOD I'm proud of him. :thumbsup2 Sounds like he handled it like a pro and after 8 days you're both WL Vets.

I'm really enjoying your report, can't wait until you continue.

Beckie,
Yes I was a nervous wreck sending Tim to checkin at WL, but like you said, he did a GREAT job. I was so happy with his "performance".
