10 Day Car Rental - Will this work?

We need to rent a car for 10 days for our upcoming vacation... I've found great weekly rates, but the three extra days are killing us! Would I be able to rent the car for a week and then do a separate reservation for the last three days, which are weekend days, to get a lower rate on those days? Will I have to return to the rental place inbetween or would they let me check in for both reservations at once and keep the same vehicle the whole time?

You will probably have to return the car at the 7-day mark and pick up your new one. Ask at the counter if you can just keep the car for the whole 10 days when you rent. I know that Thrifty allowed me to do that once .

You may also look into returning nearby in LBV and picking up your weekend rental there and then returning it to the airport.

We rented from National and tried to do the exact same thing for the exact same reason! However, we would have had to return the car and rent a new one. I asked if there was any way we would be able to keep it and they said no. I tried to talk sense with them (the additional expense they would incur by checking it in, washing it, etc.) but to no avail.

You will need to return the car and rent the new one. Also be aware that there is a time when the rate gets cheaper for the weekend. If you pick it up before that time you could get a higher rate.
