I don't know if I should be laughing at the cheese factor or having a pitty party because I'm watching this crud! DH is making me watch it, I swear!!:crazy2:

It's becoming such a horrible rip-off of Armageddon it's not even funny! But at least they figured out where Oregon is!

I think I need a chick movie now........princess: :faint:

Eh, it was amusing in a cheesy way. And the young doctor was cute. :)

Yes it could get worse and it did! I started laughing during the final big catastrophe scene. It was the slo-mo and that fingernails on chalkboard singing voice over. After about 30 seconds of that wailing, I could stand no more and had to mute it.

My DH is a man of few words and simply looked at me an said this was really bad.

May is a ratings month. Imagine how bad it would have been if it wasn't. NBC should be ashamed.

My poor dh really wanted to watch it because of all the previews and hype. I thought it was terrible. The acting and dialogue were pitiful and although some of the special effects on the first night were ok, the scene last night at the evacuation camp was absurd. One of our local radio hosts was laughing that Beau Bridges sounded like Ronald Reagan! If that is the best Kim Delaney can do, she should retire from acting.

Nancy

The second night was even cheesier. I was flipping between that and another show so I missed a little bit. The parts that I did see were pretty bad. And the rip off on Armageddon was real bad.

Also did anyone think it was funny that the erosion stopped right before the two seismologists? When I was watching that scene, I knew that's what would happen.

It was so bad that it was fun to watch. There were times I wondered if it they actually meant for it to be a spoof. Between the earthquake that hunted down the train and stopped as soon as it got it and the end where the earthquake stopped just in time to give the people an oceanview...just too funny.

Wow, part 2 was so much worse than part 1!! I enjoyed the cheesiness of part 1, but last night was almost too much. Why do you herd hundreds of thousands of people out of LA just in case, only to put camp on top of the fault line??? There was wayyyy too much footage of the camp falling apart, I wanted more mass destruction, more footage of the city crumbling. I loved it when the water started running into downtown. I can't believe NBC aired that, looked more like something Fox would air. I love cheesy disaster movies, but this one was almost too bad last night LOL.

I forgot to add that I was pleased to know that they didn't forget about Oregon finally LOL!

"Dr Hill, you just NUKED a man with NO REMORSE, what are you going to do now?"

 Oh, my gosh, part 2 was SO BAD!! I actually enjoyed part 1, but part 2........

Dr Kid, why do you keep trying to call big Daddy?! Doesn't he always "blow you off"?!?!?!?

Is the head of FEMA REALLY going to go out in the field and plant bombs??? Don't you think he'd be in a safe place directing the event???? I also sure hope our *real* FEMA head isn't so whimpy!!! "I can't do this, it can't be done....." *smack, smack* FIND a way!!!

Do you think taking 6 nuke bombs out into the sites where major earthquakes are happening is REALLY very SMART?! (Not to mention that it didn't work in the end.)

Doesn't it take days if not weeks to drill down through BEDROCK 300-400 feet?! How could they do it is an hour or two? Then to fill the holes in a short time..... Did you see the solders digging with their HANDS to help?! Why use the SAME team to move from place to place, which, when mapped, were hundreds of miles apart, why not use *6* different teams???

Where is the tidal wave? Don't the writers know that all major earthquakes around oceans have tidal waves? Ghee, they could have also shown Hawaii being "wiped away"......

If I had know they were showing EVERY bit of earthquake footage in the commercials, I would have skipped part 2.

I did hear that it was scientifically dubious at best :)

My husband and I laughed and laughed. It was a bonding moment for us.

Yes...but Oregon & Washington were SAVED!!:thewave:

It was only the evil southern Californians that fell into the ocean!

Seriously, I have to agree that the 2nd half was worse - I can't believe that was even possible but it was....and how did the father/daughter get from being up by Tahoe (somewhere in the real forest - even looked like maybe redwoods) to the camp in Barstow....when the young Doc. picked up the little girl and ran - I kept telling DH - her poor mom is probably right there! He just freaked out and grabbed the first kid he could find to "save"!

DH was convinced that FEMA directors radio would not have worked 200+ feet under ground....

I could go on....but I won't! :teeth:

They forgot to tell us if disneyland survived..............

Cheesy yup.. funny.. yup.. watch it again? no.........

Still secretly believes its all a plot by the government anyway
They know when and how cali is gonna become the next big disney island adventure,,,,, and btw,, they forgot to mention as well,, a quake that size on san andreas would have set off the new madrid,, bringing the gulf of mexico up the mississippi to my house..... and the tidal waves,, the coastal flooding,,,, the fact that it takes weeks to drill holes that size and depth,, and a much larger drilling rig too....shrugs,, it was a good laugh .

i also loved the misspelling of "marshal" law on the newscast.

yeah, it was pretty bad. ::yes::

Hey, if a guy can jabber on the phone with a nuclear reactor on his chest then anything is possible. ;)

Or hey, I've just been lowered 200 feet down into the unstable earth and I am straddling a nuclear warhead. You know, the first thing I am going to do is unhook myself from the rope.......

It was so awful, you couldn't help but watch it.

I think the cameraman must have flunked the test to work on NYPD Blue. The in, out, across, up and down jerky movements were giving me a headache.;)

I agree, it was a major cheez-fest! The hubby & I kept waiting for the 70's disaster music to kick in!

It was like watching a train wreck. It was bad, you knew what was about to happen, but strangely compelled to continue watching...

The Mom of the kid the young doctor picked up is probably on the "island" of CA going, "Some crazed man scooped up my child...in slow mo..."

I was starting to think I was the only one who noticed this!! I wanted to watch this movie, just wasn't able to due to the odd camera action. Do they think they're being "art-y" or "cutting edge" when they shake the camera and zoom in and out like an amateur home video?! I had to give up the first night, and turn to something else, and tried again the second night, but only got about 10 minutes in.

Glad to hear I didn't miss anything!!
