10.5 could it get any worse?!?!

[\QUOTE]Doesn't it take days if not weeks to drill down through BEDROCK 300-400 feet?! How could they do it is an hour or two? Then to fill the holes in a short time..... Did you see the solders digging with their HANDS to help?! Why use the SAME team to move from place to place, which, when mapped, were hundreds of miles apart, why not use *6* different teams???[/QUOTE]

My sentiments exactly. For the Head of FEMA to even be out there was ridiculous. Wouldn't they have ordered some poor enlisted guy down into that hole?

And the stupid peck on the lips in the middle of the situation room - pathetic. Either write some romance in or skip it. How come a male & female can't work together without getting the hots for each other?

"Dr. Kid" I love it. I was wondering if either of those docs was old enough to drive.

OMG, this is the funniest thread yet! I'm at my office falling out of my chair laughing! hehe. . good thing I work for my h. . .:jester:

I thought it was ridiculous how the quake stopped right before the scientists would've fallen over the edge into the water, as someone else mentioned.

And how silly was it, that when the quake stopped, everyone was happy and relaxed because "It's Over!"' Shoot, they live in California, don't they know about *Aftershocks!!?!?!?* LOL. . .

Wish I had seen the whole thing, for the full effect! hehe. .

wasn't the geography of Southern California pretty after that earthquake?

:sad2:

(To hear Ellensburg, Washington mentioned in a movie was the highlight for us...after that - puuuuhhhleeeese!)

We now have a new state: "The Island of California" :teeth:

Loved the reference to Ellensburg too...but what about all the dams on the Columbia River - wouldn't an 8+ quake done a little damage to them too....

Why were all those people just running in circles at the camp? Did anyone notice that they were running for ten minutes, but no one was getting anywhere? :yo-yo:

And what about the new island that was formed. When the people stood on the edge, the island looked to be about 1/2 mile away. But when they zoomed out to show the entire state and the new geography, the island was about 500 miles away.

It was one of those movies so bad you just had to keep watching. I missed part one, but DH had it on in the computer room so I watched part two. I agree with Reg, the camera movements were giving me a headache.

How nice that all of a sudden it just stopped feet away from them and then it was beautiful sea. Shouldn't the water have been filled with debris and dead bodies?

Definately not one I'll be watching again.

Totally agree- how can they be happy. a huge chunk of land was gone, people would have been on it. all the people running in circles and not one of them lost anyone they were with?? they are on an island, they have no bridge, they have no phone, a whole lot of people are dead, but gosh we need a happy ending so they are all smiling!

I loved the classical music they played while everything was going in slow motion. It reminded me of scenes from "Natural Born Killers."

I also wonder how the daughter and ex-husband could be so happy on the new beach not knowing what happened to the Governor. We never found out what happened to her. Did she live? Did the hospital collapse? Did she make it? What side of the new ocean was she on?? Why was everyone so thrilled at the new beachfront property?!?!?

So I managed to stay up and watch the local news - they had a whole thing with some people from the University of Washington seismology laboratory and the King County emergency team. They were laughing really hard a few times. They gave out the overall scores - mostly 0 - 1.5 for accuracy, though one gave it a 4 for entertainment, as a comedy!!

DH of course found it amusing, but then again he's a grown man who loves bad B movies (the cheesier the better)

Can't wait to see what crud they roll out next!

When they panned out to show the overview of the new S. Cal geography my first thought was that new island will be a developer's paradise. I can just imagine the marketing campaign - beautiful island location - of course there will golf courses - it will very exclusive with million dollar homes.
