10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

I think the countdown sign using Mickey paint chips is a neat idea. Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Our final pmt is not due until July 21st. I think my husband is planning to pay it off the first of next week. Just think, 96 days from now we will be on the boat, getting ready to sail. Time cannot go by quick enough!!!

Good morning all! Beautiful day here in Chattanooga. Not much going on here today. Getting a haircut, taking the kids to the pool and who knows what else....

Question: I know the answer is somewhere on the boards, but what is the largest table they have in the dining rooms? We are a family of six, but would like to be seated with other people if possible. It wouldn't surprise me if there were some nights when the boys eat with their clubs and I'd rather it be more people at the table than just David and me.

I know I read a trip-report where someone was talking about 10-12 at a table. I hear so many people complaining about being seated with others, but I think it will be fun. They did that at Beirgarten in Epcot, and we really enjoyed talking to others.

Yes, I agree with Kari. On the 11 night in 2006, we had a table of 12. It was a lot of fun because we'd linked with other Dissers.

What would be neat is if you could link with a Disser that has children around your children's ages. You'd have a lot in common.

If I figure out we ate together I will die - were you early or late???

Good morning all! I'm having a bit of a lazy morning. We took the kids to Six Flags yesterday, so we're moving a little slowly this morning!

It was difficult to walk past the Batman ride knowing that a 17 year old tragically lost his life there just Saturday. It is so hard knowing that one stupid decision has changed the lives of so many people.

We went with friends who go to Disney at least once a year. We were on Monster Plantation and the guy said, "This sure isn't Disney!" Don't get me wrong, we had a good time. There is just something so different about the Disney parks in both the maintenance of them and the personality of the employees. I'm sure I don't need to tell you all that though! :rotfl2:

I'm fixing to put the final payment on my Disney Visa. :cool1: I don't think we will be making any excursion reservations either. My kids love the beach, and we have just done it on our own in the past. I would like to make Palo brunch though. I am also considering giving my husband an Exotic Rasul appointment for his 40th birthday.

I'm off to the pool. I've emailed my Sis the link to this thread, so maybe she will pop in.

Have a good one!

Hello all. We will be on board with all of you come October. Someone was kind enough to clue us in to this very active board on another one. Thanks kattibritt01. Not sure if that is your handle here. Anyway, we booked this cruise over a year ago. We have gone full circle between almost booking another cruise and then coming back to this one. We are real excited now. It wil be myself 35 my DW 33 DD 9 and DS 6. Will be leaving youngest DD 1 1/2 at home with grandma and grandpa. We live in southwest Minnesota. This will be our 6th cruise. 1st with the kids. Have done RC, X, and Carnival in the past. RC being or favorite so far. Will have to try to log through all the post here and try to catch up. A couple of quick questions. Is there a meet and greet planned? Any other hot info would be great. Looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next few months. We have always enjoyed the boards on that other site in the past. We tend to check them at least daily.:cool1:

Welcome to The Buccaneers Take The West!! :yay:
This is a fantastic group here. Everyone is very nice and we have all gotten to know one another well.

We do have a few things planned:

1)We have a group meet planned for 3pm at the drink station on day of departure.

2)There is a group list posted on page 1.

3)Important info is listed on Page1, post 4, in red. Be sure to check those out.

4)We are also doing a Fish Extender gift exchange. Contact Mommaluvsdis if your family is interested in participating. We have a nice group in the exchange, so far we have 25 statrooms involved!!

5) If your family is interested, make some signs to decorate your stateroom door with. It is a very fun tradition (I think started on the DIS??) & makes the stateroom doors look awesome. Alot get really creative. I think we have some on here who are already finished with their door signs already!!! :rolleyes1 ) Me, included!!!

If you have any questions regarding the fish extender exchange or door decorations, anyone here can help with those!!
It will be nice to get to know you before we set sail.

(Almost at the 3 month mark :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: )

Welcome to the Group!

:welcome: You found us! Don't try to hard to catch up all the posts... it will make you nuts! Just jump in and hang on! Our cruiser list is page 1, post 1. Other events are page 1, post 4. We have a meet on Oct 4 at 3:00 by the drink station. (This is so we can watch the kids swim while we visit.) There is also a Palo Brunch meet and fish extender gift exchange being planned. Any questions... just ask!

Edited to add: Disregard my post in its entirety since Jacquelyn beat me to it!!

:welcome: simo and family! Happy to have you joining us. As it has been said - check out P1, Post 1&4 and that should catch you up nicely. We are a chatty bunch sometimes and talk about lots of things not related to our cruise but fun things we have in common - just helps us get to know each other.

If you decide to skim through - we started posting in red on our normal posts things that were important - fish extender updates for instance. We didn't start that until (great idea by the way, whoever decided we should do that) a week or so ago.

I paid our cruise off today. One more thing checked off the list. Saw the Dr. today too - not good news but the plan will work as I am not interested in the alternative (knee replacement). So - I best find our Bucs take the scale thread and get busy. I have lost 15 poounds but have about 60 more to go - no surgery may be the incentive I need to get back at it.

Well, enjoy your evening everyone. Hope you all have fun things in store for the Fourth. I will spend mine travelling to see my parents but I am looking forward to the visit.

Welcome Simo! Glad to have you with us! Look forward to getting to know you in the next three months.

My mom isn't taking part in the FE exchange, so her name can be taken off the list. Also we have late seating for the excel sheet.

Thanks for the very concise up to speed post on what we need to do. Could someone please give us some more info on the fish extenders and on the door decorations? I tried to PM or email but we can't do either b/c we don't have enough posts.

We are new to Disney (and cruising with kids) as the DH said and so this is pretty much all new to us.

So glad we found this board! The one on CC was pretty dismal compared to this!

Fish Extenders:
Outside of your stateroom, there wil be a fish. We either purchase or make what we call a "Fish Extender." Here is a pic of mine that I bought from ebay:

fishextender.jpg

You hang it on the fish outside of your stateroom (**make sure you bring a zip tie so it doesn't swim away!!!!**) Everyday, there are different people signed up who will deliver little gifts to your FE. It is such a great surprise to look in your FE and see what goodies are in there!! Denise (mommaluvsdis) is taking care of sign ups and I think she is also keeping a list of goodies so they aren't all the same!

On door decorations:
The DCL doors are metal so we make cute signs and put them on the door with magnets or magnetic paper. Here is my door from my 2006 cruise:

I put up some Mickey heads with magnets on the back (got the mickeys from home depot) & made some basic signs using Word.
This year, I bought PrintMaster Gold and am doing more advanced signs. I know there is a thread about door magnets that can give you tons of ideas.

Please let us know if there is anything else you have questions about.

Hello Fellow cruisers.
I haven't been here for awhile, I hope everyone is getting good and excited, we received our cruise packages and our final statements

For the fish extender gifts I am giving I would like to personalized them for each family. If you would like yours personalized please PM me with your last name. If you do not want to give out that info I can just put "Our Family" instead. Also is there a list of all the participants in the FE somewhere? Thank you
Christine

Simo... for PM and email, you need to have 10 posts. You can posts lots here, or cruise the main cruise forum and make posts to get yours up.

For fish extenders, this is totally optional. If you want to participate, Denise will need your cabin # (if you have it) and the ages of your kids, and the total # in your cabin. Then you pick a day to deliver your gifts. Some people are doing 1 per cabin, some choose 1 per person, and some will do kids only. The kids really like going to the room everyday and finding little gifts in their pockets... makes the cruise a little more magical! We have enough people signed up that there will be 2-3 gifts per day!

Jacquelyn... love the new pics in your sig. The "hidden Mickey" is very cool!

Gail... congrats on paying off your cruise! I hope to post the same next week!! I was very worried for a while that we may have to cancel... very excited that things have worked out!

Seems like we have lots of questions this time around. . .

I think we chose late dining or it was the only thing available, I don't remember. Anyway, wondering if we keep it or try to get it switched.

On our other cruises (no kids), we always liked late dining b/c we did not feel we had to rush back from the ports to get ready for the evening meal that way. At home, typically, we eat at 5 p.m. though and I am wondering if late dining is going to be too late. Our kids will be 6 and 9 at the time.

Advice from those that have done this before with kids? Is late dining a recipe for disaster? I am thinking if we do late dining, we may have to do late in the day naps so that they will be able to stay awake for everything.

The other thing I wasn't sure about is how that works with the shows - do late diners have an early show or a late show? How about the kids' activities - will they be missing more with one dining or the other?

It may not even been an option to switch, just thought I'd ask.

Has anyone dealt with Disney and food allergies? Our DD has an egg allergy and I need to figure out who to contact for that.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Simo :cool1: .

Can't really help with the dining question but...

I believe that you can go on a waitlist for early/main seating before the cruise. otherwise you can try & change once you get onboard.

The late seating has the show before dinner, around 6pm, while main seating has the show at 8.30pm. Except for Pirate night when the party is later in the evening. Around 9.30pm, I think.

We've only done main dining & a couple of times my DS had to leave dinner early to go the club for something important :lmao: .
The kids can eat with the kids clubs as well.

We liked main dining cause I hate going to bed on a full stomach. Oh & I needed time to fit in anything from the late night buffets :rotfl: .

Hope this helps a little :goodvibes .

Tania
