10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

For all you fans of the Soarin' ride... my cousin is visiting this week from California. We were talking about WDW, and she told me that the orange groves in Soarin' are at the base of the mountain were they live, and they drive through there all the time. Then she told me they are now cutting them down and putting in a subdivision. :scared1: How sad! Those groves (and the scent) are one of my favorite things about that ride. I figured if anyone could commiserate... my DIS friends could.

Found us last on page 1 had to bump us up.

Have been busy with baseball and traveling everyweekend for that. boy do I need this cruise really bad. DS13 left for church camp today, he will be gone for a week. They go to Ocoee, tn for the week, they should have fun.
talk to you later

:sad1: How very sad indeed. I have not ridden Soarin' yet but that is on my list for 09/28 (yes, I am indeed sick, I know what parks are what day already for our pre-cruise trip to WDW). And then we go back at least one other day if not two so hopefully I can ride again.

Enjoy your time with your family.

Hi all
Just checking in. Winter has arrived here. Lots of rain & a drop in temps :( .

Love the pics of the animals. We don't have any pets. We tell the kids thats because we travel too much. I'm a cat lover, but also like dogs. My DD wants a cat, but my DS wants a COW :lmao: .

Tania

I would love to have a goat or two but alas I am a social worker and can not afford the farm I would need to have a herd of animals. Even If I had the money I do not have the time to care for the animals I would love to have. Lois

I need your opinions. Chris and I are signed up in Grand Cayman to do Stingray City at 7:45 am. We want to do the earliest excursion. The only other one is 12 noon. According to DCL website, we go ashore in CG at 7:30 am.
Do you think there will be enough time to tender to the island and make it to our excursion??? :confused3 What do you all think??

Janet and I are booked with Capt Marvin independently. Our excruion begins at 10AM we are to meet at 9:15. I really think that unless it is a DCL excrursion you might have trouble making it on time. Who are you booked with? Lois

I would not be comfortable with the time myself. Stingray leaves from the other side of the island. Even after the tender gets you ashore, you need to get to the meeting point for the excursion. You also need to factor in any customs hold ups once we arrive. If it's a DCL excursion you will be fine though.

Hope this helps!

The first to go ashore are those on DCL excursions and then everyone else. When we did the Western a few years ago, you showed up at the movie theater on Deck 5 and once enough had showed up to fill a tender (and one was there for a pickup) we all walked down and boarded the tenders. We are doing Nativeway's Island and Stingray City tour and don't have to be at our spot until 9:30 I think. We did the Reef, Rays and Rum Point last time and that had an earlier time - and we had plenty of time for that but I bet it was like 8:15 or 8:30. If the company you are using knows you are on the Magic, I would think that they should know what time people get off the ship since it is a set time.

And then - does the Magic ever dock at Grand Cayman or is everyone tendered in?

I forgot to mention that the excursion is a DCL excursion. And I think in Grand Caymen it's always a tender.
Chris and I decided that for right now, we may change our time to the 12 noon one. We can get up, get ready, eat breakfast, and go to the tender boat. That way we won't be late.
I did send an email to DCL Concierge to see if they can get more information on the 7:45 one for me. It just seems like there will not be enought time but if DCL is offering it as a time, then it must work. :confused3

There is no need to change it as long as it is a DCL excrusion. You meet on the ship at 7:45 and then leave the ship as a group. In fact you will most likely meet in the Rockin Bar D. You will be fine. I have found it is better to have your excrusions in the morning as it often rain for a while in the early afternoon. Go and enjoy!!

Jan, I go to church with mike/kim hixson, but you might be referring to the hixsons who my town was named after. As a matter of fact, the Hixson family sold our county the land that our new Hixson Middle School is being built on (SOoooo excited to be moving into a new school after Christmas!)

Kim, hope your son has fun. A few years ago, my principal took our staff on a white water ride down the Ocoee as a staff development thing. I was scared at first, but itwas sooo fun!

I'm sort of in the same boat as karibritt. I would rather just hang out on the boat or do whatever comes up instead of planning our day out, but I don't want to keep my family from doing stuff. My DH has said he wants to visits some ruins, so I'm looking for the best way to do that.

Gotta go fix lunch for the boys!

I really enjoyed Tulum but it is a very long hot day. You could opt to send DH on his own and book a shorter fun something for you and the kids. Janet and I are going to try the four element excrusion the 2nd trip into Cozumel. Lois

My DH has said he wants to visits some ruins, so I'm looking for the best way to do that.

Look into the San Gervasio ruins. They are on the island of Cozumel, so no ferry and such to get there - just a short taxi ride. I googled it, and found a website saying how easy it was to do on your own. It's a small park ($6 entrance, but could have gone up as the article was several years old.) They have food, restrooms, guides, etc. Word of warning... tread carefully there, as it is the ruins of the temple of the goddess of Fertility! :scared1: One souvenier I will NOT be bringing home!

The only info I have on the Four Element Excrusion is what is on the DCL web site. It is a long excrusion and I will only do this one with DCL because if something goes wrong I don't want left behind. Hope this helps, Lois
