Well Gail, since you asked...

This is our Josie!

DH and I could not be more in love with this kitty. Honestly, it was love at first sight for my husband and pretty close for me too.
I can't even imagine how we will adore our children one day!!!

Well Lauren - I sort of think that people are either cat people or dog people - you are the former and I am the latter. We had a cat once and it was more like hate at first site. Never again - although I have been around cats that I do like, I don't know that I will ever "take the plunge" and try again.

Well, DH and I have no human children but we do have 2 adorable furbabies!!

This is our gal Katie. We also call her Big Girl. Katie is a Diva and she knows it, too!! She is a French Bulldog and is 3 years old.

This is our baby, Buddy. He just turned 1 and is a Boston Terrier!

Great pics everyone!!

My husband had pretty much decided that it wasn't the right time for us to adopt a puppy as he would the primary caregiver. HOWEVER, we went by the pet store in the mall and held the most precious maltese! I am not an animal lover at all, but I miss the little fella! :confused3 So now, we are more confused than ever.

I'm going to check the paper tomorrow. I also check Craig's List daily to see what's there. I figure if it is the right time and puppy, I'll know.

I was just looking at the Picture of the Day thread. They had one of the Mickey Slide early in the morning. Just looking at that photo of a seemingly deserted ship made me almost cry! I love that place so! I can't wait for my family (and the rest of the first timers here) to experience what has become so important to our family.

Happy weekend everyone!

So I received the planning kit. So Excited!!
It does say no coolers though. Can we stil bring them or is it a bad idea?
I just don't want to be breaking the rles but also being able to bring my own bit o' stash is a great idea.

So 105 is tonight. Whatis everyone else booking?

So close...so much fun to look forward to :)

Ginger I have a Bichion. They are in the same family. A maltese has straight hair and a Bichion has curly hair. Niether dog shed so they need to be groomed. Our dog (Holly) hates to be brushed so we would take her in monthly to be clipped. It got to be expensive so now I try to clip her myself. The Maltese is a very good choice if you don't mind the need to brush them regularly. Keep us posted on your search and I hope you find a wonderful new family member. Lois

Denise - if you give me the post number that you want to maintain the list on, I will figure out how to add a link in post 4 to that particular post

Gail
The post # is 1369. The FE info is there if you want to put a link on post #4. Thanks for doing that!
Kari,

Let me know if you need any other info.

Gena,

Glad your mom is doing so well.

2 rooms here. Both will have FE

Hi everyone! Getting ready to head off to eastern NC. Going to pick up my two youngest from my moms house. I think we're going to stop and spend the night somewhere to break up the trip.

Speaking of pets, we just got two puppies (half lab, half springer spaniel) a few weeks ago. I'll be honest, I'm just not a pet person. I have never wanted pets, but felt guilty about depriving my sons of a dog. My DH caught me in a weak moment and got me to agree to them.

Just wanted to check in and say hi, now I have to finish packing so we can hit the road.

It's funny you should say that because I am really a lover of dogs and cats, but DH never had pets as a kid so he isn't as comfortable with dogs. Also, we have a long commute and it would be unfair (in my eyes) to leave a dog home alone so much. So cat it was!

Did anyone else see the personality tests that shelters have started to use the help match up people to the right cat? Here is the link.

BTW, I love seeing everyone's pets, keep the photos coming!

And sorry this was all very :offtopic: !

105 day folks - remember that if you are planning on joining our group brunch - be sure to make your Palo ressie for anytime Monday morning.

Guess I need to get our cruise paid off so that I can be sure I am ready for that ressie rush at 90 days. I don't think it really takes 2 weeks to get through that but I want to be sure too so one day next week will be it.

House is quiet today. Drew is having a soccer workout with a few other goalies, Ben and Kristie headed to Alpena to visit her grandparents and I am spending the day with the washer, dryer and camp clothes. Enjoy your first full day of summer - it is only 63 here right now but the sky is blue so it will get warmer.

Good Saturday, everyone!
Had a great day at work today, very sweet patients. One of my patients was a 90 y.o. lady who was just the sweetest thing!! :) I could have spoken to her all day long but other ladies just kept coming in for their Mammograms!
Anyway, cruise is finally paid off as of yesterday  and I was able to book my Palo brunch for 10:30 AM on October 6th along with Palo High Tea & Stingray City. DH and I are SOOOOO loking forward to Stingray City since our 2006 one was canceled due to inclement weather. :furious:

Hi all, dog talk I love it.
We have an Albino Doberman. He's a beautiful, buff colored, all natural, his ears and tail were not cut.
He has the bluest eyes and is just the sweetest dog ever. If you met him with me you would think that he would never go after anyone, wrong. He's the best protector. Also great with kids,he never lets them out of his sight and won't let anyone come near them.
He is free to roam our property, no special fenching to keep him in. He doesn't need a leash, he listens and obeys perfectly. We never took him to any training classes.

Guess what!!! We adopted him from a Doberman rescue organization. You talk about personality test, we did that plus. The Maryland Doberman rescue organization sent someone to our home to look it over. Called our neighbors and asked about us called our vet. We went throught it all.
I found him in Virginia. He was up for aboption through their organization, I was afraid they wouldn't let us have him. But we were lucky that they worked with the Md rescue organization. We did have to go and pick him up in VA, but he was worth everything we went through.
I'm going to try and post his picture.

He sounds beautiful!! Please post a picture or two if you can. Chris and I lOVE dogs so much!!!!! :)

The ASPCA around here is nutty with their restictions. My mom wanted to adopt a dog from them, and they turned her down! Black listed because she has a fenced backyard, and lets the dog go out by itself to pee. Apparently, they require you to be outside WITH the dog every time, because a hawk could carry it off. You know... those hawks you see flying around with dogs in their claws all the time! :rotfl2: So I found her a Cocker Spaniel through a rescue. We got our dog through a rescue, too. She is so good with the kids, and is very sweet. Just STUBBORN!!

Denise... I will go back to the FE list and figure out the info. I just couldn't remember how far back it had been posted. Thanks for keeping up with that!

I am still quite a bit out from my 75 day mark, but I don't think we will make many. We are not really interested in Palo (blasphemy!) or any of the Disney excursions. The Disney excursions seem to pack in too much, and then rush you through it. Also, there are elements about each that I have no interest in. SO... I think I will go on my own for most things. Although... I am considering between the pirate ship or the semi-sub in Grand Cayman. :confused3

We have had a few rescued greyhounds in my day and we went through an application process to get them as well but nothing about only walking on a leash. If anyone ever wants a big couch potatoe - they are it. Just lovable, sweet dogs. It seems that kids go to the tracks to take care of them so they are great with kids as well. Just have to teach them how to do stairs - interesting project. But glad you found her a cocker and all is well.

Cozumel Insider - Activities, Tours and Excursions link has been posted to the Activities post on page one. if you select the beach link - there are coupons available.

Happy Monday!
I finally got around to posting pictures. You were discussing pets and we have the best dog! (I'm not partial though) He is a LhasaPoo (half Lhasa Apso half miniture Poodle) He is the perfect size (20 lbs), doesn't shed but yet isn't fragile like the smaller dogs. :thumbsup2 We got him from a breeder in Iowa (www.iowapuppies.com) Here is a pic of him as a puppy and as an "adult". He is four years old now and his name is Scruffy. Based on the puppy pic, you can see how my girls chose the name!:rotfl:

Sorry the pics are so huge! I'm still waiting for my planning kit, my agent said it should be here any day. I can't wait!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!:hippie:

Hello Everyone!!!

Welcome WolfeinTN and DW!!!

I will update the #1 post and the spreadsheet. If anyone wants to receive an email with the spreadsheet of DIS info, let me know. I will send a group email later this week.

Jacquelyn - congrats on getting your Palo ressie. We, too, are looking forward to Palo brunch and dinner. My DD just made Palo ressies for our
9-14-08 Wonder cruise. I love all the planning that goes with cruising.

Just wondering - all TN DISers, anyone from the Chattanooga area who know any Hixsons? My DGF was a Hixson from that area.

My DD used to foster greyhounds. Wonderful dogs.

Have a great week.

Jan

Hello everyone! I have a puppy update!

We have decided now is not the right time for us to add a family member. We just couldn't get peace about it. DS seems fine since he got to go pick out other stuff for his Bday.

Jan, I go to church with a Christine Hixson and son Jamie Hixson.

We are 100 days away from leaving Chatt today!! :cool1: What an exciting milestone!

Last night my mother said, "Did you hear about that cruise ship sinking?" Apparently my grandmother heard something on tv. I think she is talking about the very sad events in the Phillipines with the ferry. I told my mom that I don't think that will be a problem as we are very unlikely to be caught in a typhoon. Can you tell that she is a first time cruiser? :lmao: I honestly never worry a minute about the ship sinking.

Hope you all have a Marvelous Monday!

Ginger
