10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Denise that's awful, I'm sorry. We'll keep her in our prayers.

Hi there Buccs!

I have been MIA for awhile, wrapped up in school and work, but I have been reading through trying to catch up on your lives. With less than 5 months to go we will all be together before we know it! Anybody else eyeing up some home projects for the summer? I have a TON of long over-due painting to do, and I want to re-work our flowerbeds in the front yard. We have a tiny townhouse yard, but it's a big job for someone as unexperienced as I am!

In Disney news, DH and I decided to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party on Oct. 3rd. I AM SO EXCITED! :dance3: I have never been to the Magic Kingdom, heck I have never set foot on Disney property before, so I will be riding high when you see me in the 4th! :mickeyjum

I also have a question: Is anyone planning to rent a car at the airport and drive to Port Canaveral? We are flying in the 3rd, staying in Orlando (on points, so the hotel is free, but randomly placed!) attending MNSSHP then driving to the Port Saturday morning. Any rental car recommendations? Thanks!

Denise - I am sorry to hear about your step-mom's illness. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please be sure to take good care of yourself during this difficult time.

We are going to rent a car when we arrive in Orlando and will drive to PC the morning of our cruise. We are renting from Budget. I haven't rented from the airport before but we did from PC after our last cruise. They are quite close to the port.
Hope that helps :goodvibes .

I'm sure you will have a ball at MNSSHP! I considered doing this, but the kids have been begging for Sea World for over a year... and I couldn't justify almost $500 for park tickets in 1 day!

We are driving down on Thursday, and should get into Orlando around dinner time. I made a ressie for POP for 2 nights. After getting settled in the room, we will go to DTD to eat and shop, then either go back and swim, or go to Fantasia Golf. Friday we will go to Sea World all day, then go to Fort Wilderness for the campfire and movie. I am REALLY hoping to find info on the Haunted Hayride, and take the kids on that! We will get up Sat AM and drive to port... probably get there between 11 and noon.

We haven't told the kids we are staying at POP... they are going to be so excited. They have always wanted to stay there, but Wynn and I love CSR, so we win!

Just paid off the rest of the vacation. Now all I have left to save is the spending money. I feel so good. Looks like I may not need to go into debt for this one. Lois

 YAY for you! I bet you and Janet are getting excited.

I sent a $2000 check on Friday, so only a little further to go. I plan to pay off at the end of June, about 3 weeks before my final payment date. Then I will have 3 months to save spending money. I generally try to go on vacation with a paid-off credit card in case of emergency... but we are strictly cash and carry people. I actually feel pretty anxious about the whole "charging to the room" thing on the ship.

Sure does feel good doesn't it? This vacation is thanks to a very special thing called the "tax return". Thank you federal government for collecting all my money and then giving it back! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the advice NZMUM!

Hello and thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Since the kids aren't going with us I may see if DH wants to go a day early and do MNSSHP too. We went this last year but he was so sick with that horrible 'flu cold that went around he couldn't enjoy it.

Oh, how I wish we were going to MNSSHP on the 3rd! I LOVE the Halloween party-it is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I am trying to convince DH to take me on October 13th since we will be in Orlando a few extra days after the cruise. Wish me luck!!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in for a bit before turning in. I have been so MIA lately! I have popped in to read here and there though. I am just pooped from trying to keep my fourth graders restrained for the last few days of school!

Denise, I'm sending prayers your way for your step mom.

Lois, the baby is beautiful! Congrats!

I can't believe we are under 150 days guys! Woo hoo!! :cool1:

Ginger

PS - My favorite singer in the world, Bo Bice, is going to be on American Idol tomorrow night! Be sure to tune in!

Ginger,

I understand what you mean about your 4th graders. We have 9 more days of school. I am just counting down the days!!!

Hope everyone is well. Have a great evening.

Gena

Busy! Busy! Busy! But, I have learned something new and promise to behave.
Prom was last Saturday and this is Drew and Megan.

And I joined the DIS when and I just figured out how do post pictures?? Geez Louise!

Hope everyone is doing well and those of you that teach are keeping your patience (and students) in check. I feel for you - spring fever is running wild here too. Drew is done on the 21st and he has had enough. Graduation is June 1st with all that goies with that. He brought home his cap and gown the other day - instructions say to hang it up so the wrinkles will hang out - yeah, right! It could hang for a year and those wrinkles are going no where. It also says not to get wet (dark royal blue) so I am a bit leary of haning it in the bathroom to steam from a shower so I guess I will get to press it.

Well, I guess I better go find you all some more pictures to view - if I don't keep doing it I will not remember how.

Gail... what a great picture! Is Drew your first to graduate? I'm dreading when that day comes around. I just realized that in 6 more weeks my baby goes from Kindergarten to 1st grade. :sad1:

No, Drew is the last one. But the first one has moved home again so that makes up for Drew's impending departure for college. I did pretty good with the first day stuff with my oldest but the last first day for Drew was awful. I am also expecting graduation to be a tear jerker. My goal with the boys was to raise loved, healthy, happy, responsible children to go out into the world and do great things so I gotta let them go and do great things. Mind you - I said nothing about it being easy cuz I am sitting her with tears...

Congrats on getting all the kids through High School. You have every reason to be proud. Lois

Happy Mother's Day to everyone:flower3: . I was fortunate to have lunch with both my mother and DH's mother. It is not every day that grandchildren get to have lunch with both sets of grandparents together. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Only 7 more school days left:yay: :yay: :yay:
