10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Welcome aboard, ckatz_meow & family! Glad you're joining us!

honeymooner2004,
I haven't posted like I should either. I am going to be better about it!

My dental appointment should be easy today as it's a crown replacement. I guess I chewed holes thru the last one!

Send prayers our way tomorrow. My little Faithy will have some two caps put on jaw teeth. :sad1: I'm having a crown and some replacement fillings too
Ginger - Hope things went well for both of you :goodvibes .

Ckatz Meow - Welcome!! There is thread for the kids to post to if they would like to chat to others who r cruising. At the moment the posters are mostly boys of a similar age to your 2. This is the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1693102.

Lois - thoughts & prayers to you. Hope things work out with your job.

Tania

You can add us to the list. It'll just be me and DH - Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Welcome to our group. We are very happy to have you join us. Lois

Welcome Ruley and Cathy and families!

Ruley -- you're on our list. We can't wait for your TA to confirm!

Gail - I spent 2 days in Kalamazoo taking care of DD Lisa and her two children. They are feeling better but I'm starting to get a little sick. I have to be better by Saturday, as we're having our 2 Detroit granddaughters for the weekend.

We're predicted to have anywhere from 8-15 inches of snow by tomorrow morning in mid-Michigan. The law firm I work for actually let us go home early today.

We're 7+ months and counting to October 4.

When I last spoke with Gail, she motivated me to purchase our airline tickets. We got a great deal on AirTran out of Detroit. Also booked airfare for my 9/14/08 Wonder cruise with my kids. Thanks, Gail!

Have a great evening everyone.

Jan

Tania - Faith did wonderfully at the dentist! Thanks for asking. My temporary is driving me craaaazy. I couldn't feel anything when they asked if it was okay, so I had to just trust that it would be right. Oh well, it is just two weeks that I have to deal with it.

My big project is due tomorrow. I told my teacher that I thought God was telling me I was through with my project because I ran out of page protectors. :rotfl:

On a serious note, please remember those from our area of the country. These tornadoes were horrible. It was scary around the time we were going to school this morning. In fact, a lady that I am in class with lost her house. I can't imagine.

Given that I live in Tornado Ally everyone effected by those storms have my prayers. You are right they are bad. Especially because there is seldom alot of warning. You know that conditions are right but it can develop right over your home and you will have no notice. There was a lot of death with them this time, just makes my heart sad. Lois

I saw the devastation on the news. Very scary indeed. And so sad to see.

Glad everything was ok with the dentist.

It must be dentist time! Glad to hear everyone's work went well and that temp will be off with the crown on soon. If it really bugs you though -go back and have them grind it some.

Snow - southern MI (where Jan lives) has been hit harder than up north where I live but I will say, we got at least 7 or 8 inches yesterday. No school again today (we now sit at 2 days over our). There must be at least 2 feet on the ground out there. Roads were not bad coming in today but last night going home was awful as it was snowing (those big, saucer size flakes) really hard. Good thing it was still light out - darkness and snow drive me nuts.

Well, I leave for Spartanburg on Sunday so hopefully SC has some nice weather.

Jan - take care and get better before the little ones arrive Saturday.

Have a good day all.

Welcome to all of our newcomers! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

Gail,

I finally found that book that listed the excursions on the 11 night and here's what we did:

St John Island tour
Cosol Tour
Barbados - shopped
Antigua - shopped
St. Kitts - Brimstone Hill Fort and the island tour train

So, if you weren't on any of those tours, then we probably met onboard at the breakfast or something.

I'm trying to overcome a severe case of food poisoning but will be better about posting.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Well, looks like we did the St. John tour together (we went to St. John with a DCL tour that didn't get into the water) and we did the train in St. Kitts. The roster that was done for that is still accessable (I do not spell well) so I found your picture and apologize for mixing you up - and it is now driving me nuts to figure out who I mixed you up with. I really should write journals of our trips to help me remember things.

And I hope that food poisoning gets better soon.

Thanks, Gail, I'm much better. St. Kitts was beautiful. Loved the way they have goats instead of lawnmowers! Too funny! I also had to smile at the sugar cane juice and cane cakes the ladies served on the train. I'm from Louisiana and that's an all the time thing here. It was nice of them to allow us to experience their region first hand.

My thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the recent storms.

Could someone in the know post the planned activities as an update? I don't mind reading back thru the posts but we do have a few newbies to this cruise and I thought that might be a nice thing to do.

Hello to everyone - Happy Thursday!!!

Sorry to hear about those of you affected by the tornados!! My prayers are out to anyone affected!! We only have cold temps here. Possible snow for the weekend - but we never get much.

It MUST be dentist time. I'm going on Tuesday - YUCK!! I have a horrible fear of the dentist!! Haven't been in almost 3 years!!!

Have a wonderful day and day-dream of the cruise!!!!

Welcome Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Today is my "Friday"!!!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jan

Jan, have you come to our part of the world :rotfl: - today is Friday here - Friday afternoon.

Well the kids have been back at school for 2 days. They've survived :woohoo: and seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Both their teachers are new to the school so they were a bit worried. At our primary schools (elementary to you guys??) they have one teacher per classroom and they teach all the subjects. So the kids don't change rooms to go to math or science etc. Our school is small so each of the classes have 2-3 years (grades) in it. My DD is in the senior room, which covers years 7 & 8 (she is year 7), DS is in year 4 in a class that has years 4, 5 & 6 in it.

We officially have a drought here. But only limited water restrictions so not too bad for us townies but not good for the farmers.

Hope everyone has a good weekend :) .

Tania

Just wanted to give a bumb. Welcome anyone who is new that I might have missed and hope that those who were feeling ill are better. It is getting closer. I can't wait for winter to be over and to be into summer. Then fall will arrive and we will be so close.

I have made our ressie to get from POP to the port and our ressies to do the Dolphin Swim. We are doing this on the cruise before this one but none the less I made my Ressies. Just makes it seem so real. WDW and DCL here we come. Lois

As far as planned activities....Lois, didn't we say we were meeting somewhere at sometime on the first day, lol. I can't remember, but will go back and search it out if you can't remember. :)

Also, we mentioned a plan to either do trick or treating or do the fish extender gift thing, or both, but I don't know if anything has been set in stone.

Welcome Mr. & Mrs. Smith! Our list is growing rapidly! Gotta go, have a great weekend everyone.

Lori P. :)

I believe were were planning on having a meet by the Mickey Pool at about 3:30 (On 10/4/08). This way the kids can play in the pool and the adults can visit. I was going to try to grab a table or two since I will already be on board.

I also suggested that we have a lunch together on the first sea day. I think that is Monday. They will seat us together if we go to the set down resturant. We do need to contact DCL in advance and provide them with a count of people expected to attend.

Any one else remember anything different? Lois

Hello everyone. I made it to Grand Rapids - my trip to the airport was under either storm warnings or advisories so I made the decision to leave last night (wonder what I forgot when packing) and spent the night close to the airport. COLD here (like -2 F with 20 MPH winds). Too bad I don't have a remote start for my car. I think I will go start it and then just take the remote box so I can let it warm up.

Activities - meet on the first day at the pool is great as is lunch (although I may opt for Palo and just sit with you all). Fish extender is a go as well. Trick or treating was discussed but that is all I can remember.

Well, I better go find some breakfast and get my rear in gear. I will check in from Spartanburg tonight.
