10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Welcome Nicole! Glad to have you join us! Crusing with 3 under 5? Impressive, lol. We had four boys in 5 years, so I know what traveling with little ones can be like. That's why I LOVED cruising. There was really free time for us to enjoy ourselves and be with family as well. My DS12 will be celebrating his birthday on the cruise as well. He'll turn 13 on Oct. 7th.

I hear you guys about dentists. When I first moved to TN, I was 22 or so. I didn't go to the dentist b/c when you're on your own and have no dental insurance and fear the dentist worth than death, you just don't go. I had an abcessed tooth that turned into an abcess in my sinus cavity. Most painful thing ever, right up there with birth and kidney stones. Finally broke down and went to a dentist who cleared it up within 2 days. Had to get a root canal, but he was sooo gentle and attuned to my discomfort (otherwise known as mind-numbing terror).

Well, I'd better run. Talk to you all later!

Hi. we're back from our week at the beach. Had beautiful weather. Met my SIL's fiance. She announced at christmas that she was getting married in April on the Gold Coast in Australia :scared1: . We were lucky that some cheap flights came up as this was one trip not planned. The kids will have to take another week out of school (they're already missing 2 weeks while we're cruising & WDWing), luckily it's the last week of term. It seemed a waste of money to fly there just for the weekend. I'm sure the kids will manage to convince us to visit the theme parks while we're there. They always ask when we can go (like it's just up the road :rotfl: )

School starts next thursday. The kids are not looking forward to it & neither am I. It seems such a pity to be in the classroom while the weather is sooo good. And the classrooms get hot & stuffy by afternoon.

Welcome Nicole & family :) .

I completely understand about the dentist. I'm terrified of them.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Tania

Welcome Nicole!! My husband will turn 40 on the 5th (or as I like to think of it, Key West day). What a great way to celebrate your birthday!!!

I look forward to chatting more with you. This is a great bunch!

Oops! I didn't notice but I said my 18mth old was a DS, nope....she's a DD, not a big deal but I can't believe I did that! Also thought I'd let you know we'll be travelling from Red Deer, AB Canada, I noticed everyone else on pg. 1of the thread has where they're located so I thought I would too! Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Have any of you rented strollers on board? I'm just thinking it would be nice for my youngest on port days mostly. Please let me know things like cost, do you rent by the day/trip, etc if you know I would most appreciate it! I seems like most of you are veterans at cruising with Disney and I hope one day I will say the same, I've got what about 8 months to convince my husband that we need to rebook before we leave the ship!

Not a big deal as long as she knows which parts she has. Can't be any worse than me calling my grandson my son's name and my son my grandson's name. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that my 14 year old grandson is more mature than my 31 year old son. Lois

Nicole, I don't know anything about strollers (my youngest was 4 on our last cruise), but I'm bumping us up from page 3 :earseek: and maybe someone else can help.

I did google around a little, and found that strollers are free on Castaway Cay, but are first come, first served. (at least according to the site I looked on).

Thought I would just stop by to say Hi. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I am working this week end in an attempt to get caught up at work. Lois

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having a great weekend. I was sicker than a dog on Friday and don't really know what was wrong with me. Got up, took my shower and went straight back to bed. Got up around 9:00, didn't feel too bad and got ready and went to the office. Bad move on my part. I was back home by noon and in bed. DH asked me what hurt and other than the shoulder that I have pulled something in - nothing. I spent the day in bed mostly and whatever it was seems to be gone now and my shoulder even feels better.

Jan - I hope that you nursed the Kalamazoo group back to health and didn't catch whatever they had. It is nice to be close enough to help out like that.

Tania - sorry that school is starting back up for all of you - bummer. Glad you had a grand time at the beach though. Since it is a balmy 28 degerrs Farenheit here, that sounds just wonderful to me.

Nicole - sorry I can't be of more assistance with the stroller issue as I have no idea either. Since it never pertained to me I ignored the entire topic. We have had to use the fat-tired wheelchairs before on CC and I have seen the strollers but even then didn't really pay that much attention to them.

Ok everyone - I need to go ride that bike some. I have to do double duty today since I didn't ride yesterday (think goodness I was ahead to make up for Friday).

OK so I think our clan will be jumpin onboard soon as I get my confirmation back from TA
Haven't been since Dec MAGIC DD 2006
I will let everyone know for sure soon enough!!!!
Looking forward to getting to know ya as soon as I get my ressies!!!!!!
Wish me luck!!!

Ruley 3 - hope you'll be able to join us.

Gail - I do feel for you with the cold. Is that the temperature during the day?? We get that cold at nights in the winter but our days warm up a little. At the moment we have been consistently between 28 - 32 celsius (82 - 90 F). we have had the highest temperature in the country several times in the last couple of weeks (unusual for us - it's normally the central South Island that has high temps). It's very dry as well. Our region is usually very green but a comment I heard was that it's looking like Australia (very brown). There is always the promise of rain but it hasn't turned up yet.

Hope everyone has a good week. :goodvibes

Tania - no that has been our high for the last several days. Freezing rain predicted now. But this is better than the single digits and high winds from last week. Based on where I live - it is about what is expected. Doesn't really make me happy but it is what it is.

Ruley, I hope you do join us. Anyone from NC MUST be good people, lol.

Rain, rain, rain...that's all I've seen for two days. I so wanted to get a movie from the library and let my students watch it today. What could have been more relaxing that sitting in a darkened room, watching a movie, listening to the sound of the rain fall, while I got caught up on my paperwork? Oh well, the practical side of me won out and I went ahead and taught a lesson on probability/tree diagrams. :teacher:

Hey, I just realized that today is the 4th!!! Only 8 more months:woohoo: :woohoo: I'm going to give my boys their pirate hats that I found on the $1 aisle at Target. I don't know if I've posted my plan, but I want to give my sons some kind of "cruise treat" on the 4th of each month to count down time until the cruise. Next month, might be sunglasses.

Well, it's homework time, wooohooo! So excited to start that. Have a good one everyone, and I'll talk to you later!

Lori P. :)

Welcome to all of our newcomers! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.

Nicole,

We're cruising with our 18 month old grandson. We'll see you at the Mickey pool.

Gail,

I finally found that book that listed the excursions on the 11 night and here's what we did:

St John Island tour
Cosol Tour
Barbados - shopped
Antigua - shopped
St. Kitts - Brimstone Hill Fort and the island tour train

So, if you weren't on any of those tours, then we probably met onboard at the breakfast or something.

I'm trying to overcome a severe case of food poisoning but will be better about posting.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Yikes Denise! Food poisoning? I'm sorry. :scared:

Ruley! Come on in! The water is fine! Seriously, I hope you can join us. I know I'm living for next October. That sounded sad, didn't it? I know you all share my craziness though.

Lori, I had to attend a parent team meeting at 1:00, so my kids DID watch colonial america movies this afternoon. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

My husband and kids got to meet Mike Huckabee and CHUCK NORRIS today at the rally. My kids can't believe they met WALKER TEXAS RANGER! Faith is proud that he said, "Hey Sweetheart!" to her.

Send prayers our way tomorrow. My little Faithy will have some two caps put on jaw teeth. :sad1: I'm having a crown and some replacement fillings too, but I'm kind of glad to be getting a couple of hours of relaxation (due to happy gas). Once again, kind of sad! :lmao:

Hello everyone. Just a short stop to say hi. Hope every feeling under the weather will feel better soon.

Welcome to the newcomers. This is a small but active group. I have no question that we will make this cruise one of a lifetime. I would tell you what we have in the works but I have been so busy at work I haven't been able to really keep up.

We are going through some major changes at work and I am not even sure that I will have a job in a year. So I have had to work even harder so I can protect my job and my retirerment. I will be lurking so I may pop in when you least expect it. Got to try to get some more sleep, Lois

Denise, sorry to hear about the food poisoning. I've had that twice with shrimp, and that was certainly no day at the circus.

I agree, however, finding movies that you can justify in a 7th grade math class is a little tricky, lol.

My little Faithy will have some two caps put on jaw teeth. :sad1:
My six year old had this done in office, and he did fine. Never even complained afterwards. My prayer is that Faith will have the same experience.

I'm having a crown and some replacement fillings too, but I'm kind of glad to be getting a couple of hours of relaxation (due to happy gas). Once again, kind of sad! :lmao:

At this point, we just take relaxation however we can, lol.

Gotta get ready for school! All those young minds to mold, ya know. ;)

Lori P. :)

Grandma4ever,

Faith, prayers, and pixie dust that you will get to keep your job. That's a hard thing to face, God bless you and yours.

It must be a day for dentists. What did they do, schedule us all together? I have to have a crown replaced.

In March, DH Steve has to begin what will amount to $14,000 worth of dental work.

I know my lack of posting may speak otherwise but I'm truly looking forward to this cruise and meeting you all.

Hey,
Could someone post an update on the meets, FE (fish extender) and other activities, please?

A good day to all!

Just wanted to say Hi to all. We will be joining you for this week of joy and sunshine. There are 5 people going. Myself, DH, DS12, DS9, and DBIL. :earsboy:

Hello everyone!! And welcome newcomers. Haven't been here in awhile - since October!! Bad me!! The holidays, my daughter's birthday and winter illness' have kept me away. I am so excited that it is less than a year for our cruise!!! Are there any plans in the making for a meet up on board? There are so many threads attached to this now, I'm still trying to catch up!!!
Here's wishing you many Mickey dreams!!!!
