10/27 2012 A little Halloween MAGIC!

Ya not a lot of people. I am wondering if it is not a popular cruise? Silly me I thought it would be being Halloween and all. We are still deciding what we are going to do. I wish they would post 2013 dates soon.
I completely undestand about your Mom's health in your 80s that is always a factor :(

We are sailing the Wonder in a few weeks. (Halloween 2011) I'll let you know what they do special for Halloween. I heard a parade for the kids and costume contest for the adults. Still hope to book the Magic in 2012. I'll let you know next month. :yay:

I really thought that people here in Texas would jump at the chance of a Disney cruise coming here, but hardly any of our friends that have children are really interested. I think there are 3 factors, 1) price, 2) timing of the school year and the fact that it's a 7 day cruise (too long according to most friends) and, 3) itinerary that they can do/have done on one of the other lines that has been sailing out of Galveston for years.

I will be curious to see how it all pans out.

Lucky you! I'll be really interested to know what they do on the Wonder - I think it will be fun to sail on Halloween - have fun and come back and let us know!! :thumbsup2

We are going on this cruise and we are super excited! From what I understand there are few if any lower priced rooms available. I don't think it was the best timing for them to test the Texas market and I hope they don't use that against us! We don't mind pulling our kids out of school for a week every other year but I know many parents really don't prefer to do that. We first looked at Thanksgiving week first and it was going to cost us $7,000 to get a room for 4 because it was already booked, and that was several months ago!

This is our first Disney cruise and we couldn't be more excited!

:welcome: Sorry to be a bit late with the welcome wagon! :goodvibes I agree that the timing of this will probably leave lots of families trying to book around the holidays and then the cost will be prohibitive. No kids for us, so not a problem. ;) Glad to see someone else is going to be joining us! :thumbsup2

Just thought I would pop in to say goodbye to this group as we are moving our cruise forward a couple of weeks to the 10/13 sailing instead. :goodvibes

I hope y'all have a great SPOOKY Halloween cruise :scared: and a great time sailing with Mickey. :thumbsup2

I was able to re-shop this cruise last week, thus making it a bit more affordable. We are now officially going on this cruise!

Now that we are under a year, I can start to get excited. I am currently suffering from post cruise blues from my 6 nights on the Dream last week. As we all know, the only cure for post cruise blues is to plan another cruise!!!

This cruise will be family and my sister's family for a total of 3 rooms. I am certainly looking forward to having a built in playmate for my daughter this time (her cousin).

Long time member, first-time poster!

Booked the cruise for my DW and myself as an early 5yr anniversary gift on Xmas this year
.
We took a Wonder 3-day cruise in Sept of 07 to the Bahamas as part of our honeymoon, and we loved it!

I wonder how many other people will be DIS'ers on the cruise from TX, as I never thought Disney would ever port their ships here! Boy was i wrong! :yay:

Anywho... I was just wanting to say a great big "Hello out there!" to a great place and time to cruise from Texas, especially with a company that knows how to do it right!

One last thing, never cruised Caribbean-West... anyone got any good excursion suggestions?

So better late than never... We sailed the Wonder last Halloween out of LA and it was the most amazing vacation ever. Weather was perfect, characters in costume for trick or treating, shows were fabulous, crew members were truly amazing. What else can I say? We had so much fun we knew we were going to sail again in 2012. We were all set in our minds to sail the Magic for Halloween and then they released the new itinerary and my DH was so excited about the EBPC that we decided to sail the Wonder again. I've never been through the Panama Canal but it looks and sounds exciting. I really want to sail out of Galveston but it looks like it will be a few more years. Hope you all have a great time and I'll be thinking about you on Halloween! pirate: You won't be disappointed.

We are very excited about our first cruise. We have one dd who is 12 and she is over the moon excited.

I expect it to be a special Halloween. pirate::scared1:
The board here has been very helpful. So helpful, maybe I don't need that Passporter book..???

First off, congrats on your first Cruise, especially with Disney! It will be a blast for everyone.

Honestly, having a guide around is handy when on AND off the ship. Not to dis on the Passporter, but Birnbaum has a great book too (bought one before our honeymoon for dcl/wdw). Either will have a bunch of facts and reviews of different things having to do with the cruise.

Either way, just do your homework before you leave (if you get the books or not).

Being this is my second cruise with Disney (and second in my life), the first 3 day cruise was WAY too short to see everything on the ship. I really think this time will be much better and more time to do everything. Luckily both the Magic/Wonder have similar deck plans I don't have to try to relearn much. LOL

Hoping the lack of activity here doesn't mean a lack of people on this sailing!! Our family is really starting to look forward to it, and trying to come up with a group costume. My kids want to do The Incredibles - but dad and I would not look lovely in tights :rotfl2:

Just booked our very first Disney cruise! My DH, myself and DD (11yrs) will be traveling and my DD is quite excited! Can't wait for Halloween on board!

Regretfully, I have had to change our sail date. We will be sailing on September 29 instead of the Halloween Cruise. 3 more months sounds better than 4 months! ;)

Enjoy the trip!

Is there an FE group for this cruise? My friend did the FE exchange on her last 2 cruises and really enjoyed it. It sounds fun!

We are interested as well! I'll direct the other family we are sailing with to this thread too.

Added our info to the FE google doc! Thanks for creating it!

Have you ever participated in an FE before? This is our first Disney cruise so we are FE newbies.

Yes, we participated on our last cruise. My daughter loved delivering all the little gifts (and receiving her own!), and we got to see parts of the ship that we'd not have seen otherwise. Last time, we cruised out of Port Canaveral, so I shipped my FE box ahead of us, and was so scared it wouldn't arrive...but all was fine. This time, since we're driving, I'll be able to just bring it all with me. Don't know if that's better or worse!
