I have a huge list of plants that I now want

It's been quiet the last few days ... I guess everyone is gearing up for Memorial Day weekend.![]()
We're not going nowhere ... gas is $3.78 per gallon here and I have it from a reliable source that it's over $4.00 per gallon in the northern states where they make lots of cheese.
Too rich for my blood.
Just checking in, haven't read back yet. Won't be able to until tonight.
However, I wanted to let you all know that Andy is out of contact today. The power went out this morning because of the fires and so has the phone. Luckily he had the car charger for the cell phone with him and he is able to keep that going.
The power came on early this afternoon, but the phone is stil out. He just TM'd me again and said they won't have a land line until Friday afternoon. Therefore, he won't have a modem connection and won't be checking in with us.
He did say the fires are about 3 miles from their place, but luckily there is a lake in between them and the fires.
As I get updates from him, I will pass them along to you.
to Andy and HazelI forget where you are...are you near Williamsburg?
Personally, I'd like to see historical, colonial type-stuff, but maybe Sean and Cath wouldn't....not sure if the "Brits" still hold a grudge for that little independence thing...![]()

Six flags, williamsburg, DC and the beach!!!
Williamsburg, Gettysburg, DC....Sean and I want to visit every state someday, his goal is also to see every state capitol. Of course we have to stop going to Disney all the time to do it.![]()
Lori,
First let me appologize in advanced because the guys are sooooo going to run with this questions but...
Isn't there a nice set of mountain ranges in VA?![]()
If this doesn't bring the Dawg out of the woodworks someone needs to call them
Here are some general thoughts from a history geek who has been to Virginia in the past and can't wait to visit again ...
Williamsburg
Virginia Beach
Jamestown
Mount Vernon
Monticello
Arlington
Norfolk
Richmond
The James River Road Plantation tour (it was a gorgeous drive when we did about 10 years ago)
All American Civil War Battlefields (in itself an impossibility in one trip, but it's a dream of mine to have a battlefield tour vacation)
A winery tour
I'm tapped for the moment ...![]()

Oooh, I thought of some more ...
How about Roanoke? Is there anything there about the missing colony? That could be cool.
DC is always a great idea but that's going to take more than a day unless you just want to take them on a driving tour. I've been to DC twice now and still haven't scratched the surface of all that it has to offer.
Charlottesville ... I've always heard that they have a really nice historic district there with some great shopping and dining ... also some good wineries in that area I think.
You are thinking of Roanoke Island in NC. We have been there an seen the outdoor drama which is FANTASTIC!
We live about 1 1/2 hours south of DC and there is still so much we want to see. I'm not sure if you could ever see it all.
Charlottesville.......that's where we are. Just a few miles north. I love it here. You are talking about the downtown mall. It is very neat. I love going down there just to people watch. Charlottesville is a very artsy town and they have all kinds, not to mention it is a college town so that adds lots of flavor.

Gettysburg is in Pennsylvania - but definitely warrants a visit, especially if your hubby is a Civil War buff. It's an amazing and humbling place.

Were about 2 hours from Williamsburg. We are thinking about Williamsburg. I hope they like history cause that's about it for VA.
We loved Gettysburg as well.
The holocaust museum in DC is awesome, too. Depressing but awesome. Not for little kids, but awesome.
How about Kings Dominion?
