10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with BOB) - Thread #7

Never been to Vegas. My younger sister is engaged and insists that's where their wedding will be.

Luckily, we purchased before May 24, 2008 for the repo. We won't have more than 1 each going out, but will most likely have 4 or 5 total coming back.

Check out AirTran. They are only $10 more if you check the bag online ($20 if you do it at the airport).

I'm thinking more and more that we may have to give Air Tran a try. I have always booked with Midwest because we have gotten good fares by booking as soon as their tickets go on sale and then I know we have them. I wish Air Tran had their tickets available for sale at the same time as Midwest so you could compare costs and not wait and hope you'll get just as good a price. In the past when we have cruised we have checked 4 bags going down and 5 coming home so that would be an extra $60.00 with Midwest but only $30.00 with Air Tran unless they change something or we learn to pack lighter.

I have a question for those of you that have done a cruise on the Wonder? Is there anything you would highly recommend doing at Nassau?
We've been to Nassau several times (three times on a Disney cruise and once for a beach vacation). We've regretted it each time we stepped on that island. LOL -- we've never had a great experience. Last 4-nighter we never even got off the ship at this port.

I'd recommend staying onboard and enjoying hte empty ship. If you feel compelled to do something, I'd say take a taxi over to Atlantis to see the grounds, window shop (or shop if you have a money tree in your backyard), casino (again, money tree dependent).

We're still thinking about it. Have you guys decided on a "theme". Are you limiting the number of palyers? Rach said she and Courtney really want to play tag but I am concerned about room in the suitcase, especially now that Midwest, the airline we usually fly, is jumping on the band wagon and charging for a second checked bag.

Karen, feel free to jump in too but here's my 2 cents'...

I would rather limit the size of the DIStag gift than the number of players - I think we already have more than the 20 that played last time at 17 months out!

Cheryl you get double!!  High school next year! Ugh!! :faint:

Thanks Shelley. I can't believe Rach will be in high school already. She had been excited about it but now that the school year is nearing it's end she is getting nervous to the point where she was in tears about it last week. She said she wishes she could just skip high school and go right on to college, she's not nervous about college (that's what she says now). I am not looking forward to the first day of school in the fall if she is going to be nervous :scared1:

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE THE GRAND CANYON! That itinerary sounds WONDERFUL!

We want to get there too. We have a couple of free flights on AirTran that we have to use by next summer. Maybe that first week of June when DS is off of school we'll fly down to see our friend in LV and do some long excursions away from the city. Maybe do a night or two at the Grand Canyon and then maybe a night or two up at one of the parks in Utah.

(Maybe boring) flower pics....

It's definitely an awesome experience.

A friend of mine and her family did a similar trip a few summers ago. They went to LV, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon and in UT they went to both Bryce and Zion National Parks. She said it was a great trip!

If the gifts are small that would be great. I'll talk to Rach again (but I already know what she'll say) and we'll let you guys know if we decide to play.

The Grand canyon is fabulous. But if you want to ride the mules down you must make reservations. One day there is enough. My kids were bored after a few look outs. The sunset is a must. The way the rocks change colors is amazing. I made them get up for the sunrise also. Not quite as spectacilar as the sunset. You must ride the busses to the look outs where the cars are not allowed.

Every one has left us again. have a great afternoon.

Oh, I SO WISH!!!!

Her fiance won't go on a cruise, nonetheless a Disney one. They're idiots. LOL

Suggestions so far have been homemade cd's, fridge magnets, keyrings, xmas ornaments, pins - anything else small you can think of. Last year I used the plastic type bags you get for kiddie party bags - much less package than the paper ones if space is a problem.:thumbsup2

You're kidding me, right? Now she's getting excited over the 1,500th post?

I have to claim something!:lmao: - I dont stand a chance with Sneaky 1 and Sneaky 2 about so I have to go for the "inbetweeners".

Right am off to watch our football team kick some poor teams butt, come on England..... :dance3:

Still 0-0 last time I looked.

Yep, everyone I've spoken to so far is looking to get a small single gift this time round. Last years was brilliant and exciting, but I think we all struggled with space. I think we're up to 22 playing already:eek:

:thumbsup2 No problem - you havent got to decide any time soon.

AirTran will charge you for seat assignment, just an FYI. If you don't mind knowing your seats until checking in online, no problem. I think it is $10 for a round-trip ticket.

One plus for AirTran is their overhead bins are much larger than Midwest's. We can fit a 21" bag in the long way.

I hear you about AT not having their flight out until about 7 months out. To top it off, they change their times often. Not the best airline to book if you are looking to fly back right when you get off the ship.

wow! - lots of lights on tonight - where is everybody?:confused3

By the way, can anyone remember how to update my buddy list?

I cant remember how to delete or add?:confused3
