I'm late to the party but how in the he!! does the bride's family not pony up for the wedding???

Traditional etiquette demands that the brides's family pay for almost everything with the exception of the rehearsal dinner and honeymoon. Unless the bride and groom pay themselves.

My parent's wrote us a check when we got engaged and said, "that's what you get ... you want to spend more then it's coming out of your pocket."

Fair enough ... Jay and I matched their dollar amount and we were fine.

I know, each situation is different, but I can't beleive her parents didn't do anything. They're alive, right? They're healthy, right? They're financially viable, right?

:confused3 Blows my mind.

I'm with you B. If the Bride's parents don't chip in, and the Groom's does, then they have NO say in things.

Morning Brenda My mom pretty much did the same thing. There are six kids in my family and my dad was still alive when the 3 oldest got married and my parents gave them a set dollar amount to put toward their weddings when they got engaged. My mom did the same for my brother and I when we got engagaed, she gave what she could to help us out. Al's dad did pretty much the same thing, he gave what he could to help us out.

Hello?

Is everyone waiting to get post 774?

In case you're wondering, #774 on Thread #6 is the 25,000th BOB post.

O.K., so here's part 1 of my calculation. We hit 25,000 posts in almost exactly 5 months.

We started on 12/4/07 at 7:13 a.m. CST. I put up the 25,000th post on 5/4/08 at 8:15 CDT. Take away the 1 hour for Daylight Savings Time, and it was almost exactly 5 months to the MINUTE.

Bingo.

We had that issue, too, because my family is so small and Jay's family is so big. When I first saw his mom's invitation list I just laughed. Then I told her that she'd better start ponying up or paring down. That didn't go over well at all.

BTW - she pared down. ;)

I plan on cutting too today.

Can't believe that season has started. :sad2:

This will be our first time cutting this season. We really should have done it once already. I just hope the mower works! You never know after it's been sitting all these months, we had it happen once where we couldn't get the old one started at the beginning of the season.

Ok, so now I'm hooked on watching that web cam.....I have a million things to do right now, but I just want to watch the people get on those boats.:confused3

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one :rotfl2: It looks like a beautiful day at the Boardwalk this morning too.

I was also calculating the Darkside's posts, since they just past 100,000 yesterday.

Granted they had over 5,500 posts before a DIS Meet thread can technically open (can't open it until the cruise can be booked per the DIS Board rules. They opened on 1/13/07 but couldn't book until 1/31/07).

Anyhow, they got their 100,000th in about 15.75 months.

Their rate is faster, but with about 17.5 months for us to go, it will be close. We will pick up the pace as we get closer (we were clipping along on KK in the last 2-3 months). Also, we're moving along faster now and they are nearing the 105 and 90 day marks (i.e. all the postings regarding excursions).

Not sure where we'll end, but if we take the 25,000 every 5 months approach, we'd be near 110,000-115,000, given we don't pick up steam in the final few months (which I think we will).

So maybe 125,000 for us? :confused3

I know my side was kinda big, but I think in the end it was almost split (Suz had more friends she invited. Yeah, I know, no surprise there).

The neighbor cut for the second time yesterday afternoon. I haven't been out once.

Good thing the neighbor on the other side hasn't been out yet.

I think about 2/3 of the neighborhood have cut already.

I will have the front done for sure today (may have to cut twice, lowering the blade the second time). The back will just be cut at the high setting.

BTW Cheryl, while we were in GB yesterday, took Gma to Red Robin.

It was GREAT!

Grandma loves their soups and the bread that comes with it and DS always likes their chicken fingers. Suz and I were good and both got the chicken instead of the Burger. Suz had the Terryaki and I had the Whisky River BBQ.

Well kids, hate to bolt, but I think I might get my day started now that it is 9:00 a.m. here.

Check back later.

I couldn't believe how close that was until I started looking at it.

Freaky, huh?

And if I didn't wait for someone to post 773, it might have been right on. :rolleyes1

Yes very freaky :scared1: I didn't look back but I am guessing I ruined it and posted 773 :rotfl2:
