It was the Golden Eagel Catamaran on St Maarten. It was a nice boat ride to an island for snorkeling.

Better take some dramamine. I notice several people sea sick.

The snorkeling wasn't the greatest, but it sure was a nice setting. I'd do it again, but the price is rediculous now.

g'mornin' everyone. I'm in Portland, OR today. It's the last day of my LAN party. I fly home tonight. I'll post some pics today when I can get to my computer. (it's locked up in the convention center.) Pretty bummed because last night I was VERY tired and went to bed early, and late last night they had a Peggle tournament which was probably one of the few that I could win. Oh well. we have one more week until ressies, right?

Here's a preface for my videos. I can't post the pics yet because I forgot the connector for my camera.

For anyone who doesn't know what a LAN Party is:

PDXLAN is a 500 person Local Area Network for computers. By linking our computers we are able to game against each other face to face (almost) rather than on the internet. The parties are often sponsored by various computer manufacturers (this one was sponsored by Intel, NVIDIA, Crucial among others) So we get to see stuff coming down the pipeline that won't hit the stores for 6 mos to a year. And in some cases hands on playtest new games.

This first video is the longest which is a walkabout showing just how big this thing is and... the incredible modifications that are made on the computers.

the first was the Lego which I thought was impressive. Followed by the computer in a suitcase. A couple of water-cooled cases that I thought were very nice but not impressive. and Lastly was the Rune case. It was the Winner.

Yep. The guys that put this on have a stage full of computers monitoring the LAN. You can see it toward the end of the video. There are a multitude of things that need addressing. POWER for the computers (the machines, unlike the one that you use at home utilize much more power!) AND the networking equiptment for 500 machines.

I'm dreading weigh in tomorrow

I only got to 5000 steps too

If my husband snores again tonight I'm likely to hit him hard with the heaviest object I can find

I gave up trying to sleep last night. I was up making tea at 4am
