Now they do as the home is a corporate asset, and the cars are owned and titled to the corporation as well. When we move, all we take are our personal belongings. The furniture stays, curtains, etc. We take pictures, and electronic items, and that is pretty much it. We then are assigned a new command that includes a different car and a different house that is furnished. Is your head spinning yet?? :lmao:

I sometimes wish the cars were ours and we were given an allowance to buy them. That way we would have more flexibility on model selection etc. In my division, (Southern New England) people in my position can only buy a Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey...both minivans. I hope some day they allow crossovers as they are larger and get comparable gas mileage.

Wow, very nice!
Sad though you pick out all that stuff and can't take it with you and you just hope at the next place someone's taste was similar to yours.

How often do you pack up and move?
When do they expect you to retire?

smart of them only to allow Honda or Toyota, they know those will get their money's worth.

here are a couple of pics of where we ate...............

And for some reason Suz got out of the pic last minute in front of the restaurant sign and Beth said she was too classy for this pic........I don't get it.:rotfl2:

This is our group shot. Not as clear as Matthews.

Great pictures Lori. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you all had a great time. Diane

Rose. Good luck in your travels. Be safe. My daughter's best friend went to Buffalo State. She played basketball and softball for the college. Diane

Thanks Di!

I know Sean won't do any sports but there are a lot more kids there.
29000 compared with FIT's 4000 and Sean already knows some from his 2 former high schools so he should be a lot more social, I hope.....

then again....

his not knowing anyone in FL kept him from parties etc. so no troubles there
and it was a fairly techy school so kids were pretty straight laced.
Don't know how much fun Sean could have at Buffalo:eek:

Walt is off on a Patriots run ride. ( a motorcycle ride honoring veterans) I stayed home since I need to go over daugther's house to be with kids while she has a meeting at work. She did not want to bring the kids to the hospital.

How bout those Red Sox and Celtics. :yay::cool1::yay: Go teams Go. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Diane

In Rose news:

Sean will be transferring to University of Buffalo in the Fall
Costs of Florida Tech were way too much and UB is a state run (SUNY) school.

Leaving on Wednesday to drive down to Florida to get him packed and bring him home.
Will be home by Monday eve.
Driving down alone! Yeah! I love that! It's fun.
Only worried about my back sitting for 10 hours a day. Arthritis is really bugging it lately, well and bad disc too.
So wish me luck in the back pain dept.

I might get on here while driving back with Sean if we find wifi.

Poor kitties and ferret at home think Sean has left the home for good.
Boy will they be shocked to see him come back:eek:

Safe travels Rose. :hug::hug::hug:

Well, it's 10:39 PM. All of our DIS friends left a short time ago. We all had a wonderful dinner at Blue Ridge Seafood. The kids got along especially well, young and old kids ;-) Jeff wanted to take a picture of the kids and Scott and I leaned in because we thought he meant us. :rotfl2:

After dinner, we all came back to our house. We live within 8 miles of the restaurant. We sat around and visited. Naturally, some DCL Vacation pics came out for viewing. :rolleyes1

Here are some pics from this evening.

Here's the gang at the table. From left to right, Jeff and Suz, Beth, Scott (in Orange shirt), Lori (in Green), and Paige.

Here's Megan and Alex trying to talk Lori and Scott into letting them have a sleepover. I love the expression on Lori's face. "You want to do what!?... Tonight!???"

I realized after everyone left that we didn't take any pictures here at our house. Beth told me that I can't actually prove that anyone was here now.

We had a great time visiting with everyone. Scott & Lori and Paige were at our DISmeet last Fall. This was our first time meeting Jeff & Suz. It was a pleasure, and we can't wait to be cruising with everyone in October!

Matthew

Wow, very nice, glad you all had a great time.
Looking forward to meeting you all very soon!:)

Sad though you pick out all that stuff and can't take it with you and you just hope at the next place someone's taste was similar to yours.

When we moved to CT, we had to purchase new furniture for the living room because we followed people who retired and they were allowed to purchase furniture at a discounted cost. We did however, make the mistake and buy from Bob's Furniture. It's a northeast/New England chain and it just doesn't hold up well.

How often do you pack up and move?
We were in our last appointment for 7 years and our finishing 4 years here in Connecticut. It is our hope to be here a long time as great things are happening here. It used to be the average stay was 3 years, but they have determined that longer stays are better for both the officers and the local units fiscal and program health.
When do they expect you to retire?
I will most likely retire at age 67. Once we get closer my retirement date will be on my service reviews, etc. The current retirement age is 66. If I retire at 67, I will have 43 years in.

smart of them only to allow Honda or Toyota, they know those will get their money's worth.
They just started allowing Toyota and Honda a few years ago across the fleet. Administration can have a Camry and/or Accord as they don't need to pick up and serve large programs. For example, my parents are in administration in Northern New England. My dad is 2nd in command of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. They have for vehicles a Dodge Grand Caravan and a Honda Accord. We have a Toyota Sienna and a Chevrolet Express 12 passenger van. We have programs that require the large van.
See my answers in red italics above.

Aww Robin, please tell Cassie that I wish her the bestest day ever (like there is no doubt it won't be)tomorrow. I wish her all the happiness in the world, and pray she has a very long and happy marriage, like her mom and dad's is.

I second that.
:bride::hug:

Looks like everyone had a great time at the mini-meet! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Mike and Robin - I hope you are resting, but please, post pictures here or on Facebook as soon as you've rested. I can't wait to see!!!

OK, here are a couple more pics from last night. I wasn't sure about posting the one in front of the sign, but I see nobody here is shy! :rotfl2:
