We shaved both dogs for the first time last year and it was awesome!! They are so soft! Lilo seemed upset when we picked her up at the groomers so we decided against shaving her again, she is nice and sleek so she doesn't really need it anyway. Stitch on the other hand is a big ball of fluff. That before pic was taken last year and he was a lot fluffier than that before the shave but I forgot to take a pic. The groomer, who was a vet assistant for over 15 years, said that he is really shaggy because of his thyroid medication.
I take them into the river a lot during the spring/summer and Stitch gets really stinky because his coat takes forever to dry, but when he is shaved, he dries in minutes! I also like it because I love to pet my dogs but when Stitch has all his fur, he is smelly and yucky and I don't pet him much but as soon as he's shaved, he gets a lot more lovin'![]()
Our groomer did both dogs in about 2 hours, she's awesome
We did it twice last year, once in April and again in August and we will probably do the same this year.
I just got so tired of Stitch's fur, it was smelly and yucky and hard to brush so one day out of frustration I yelled "I'm gonna shave you buddy!" and Rob overheard me and asked me if I was serious.I actually wasn't but we decided to try it and see. Turned out to be a great thing and I think he likes it too because he gets so much petting
Never heard of someone shaving a Golden Retriever before and he does look a little funny for the first couple of weeks but then his fur grows in a bit and he looks good

Ehhh...I'm sick so I'm a little crabbyIt's been almost a week now and I feel like I am getting worse
On the plus side, the weather is awesome! It was 17ºC today and it's just after 11pm here and it's still 10º
If I am feeling better, tomorrow will be our first zoo trip of the year
How's things in Wisconsin?
When I was a little kid we had an Old English Sheep Dog, my dad had a friend that was a breeder and he gave one to my dad because my older sisters said they wanted a dog and would take care of itwe all know how that works. Well poor Sam never got brushed like he should have been and he always turned into a matted mess of fur except for every summer when my parents would get him shaved. He'd look like a totally different, smaller dog.
Hey Jeff the planes over land now even when you zoom it as far as you can.
Great job on the weight loss CassI'm still stuck at the 5 pounds I really need to start exercising again!
29 minutes of air time left. Hope Chris left the house.![]()
Unaccompanied minors are the last ones off the plane and then by the time she gets through customs I'm sure Chris will be there![]()
Thanks Cheryl! I've been doing pretty good since I started 5 weeks ago. That Mother Goose sure keeps me motivated with all that exercising she's doing![]()
Oh sure, blame the crabbiness on being sick.
17*C, isn't that about 60 or 62 F? That's warm. I think we got to maybe 43 today.
Things in WI are good. I'm off next week with DS - Easter break. I have 3 returns (really only 2, because one is all worked up) to do, so I'll be done by tomorrow or Sunday night.![]()
I don't know, have we gotten confirmation the "hair" was done yet? (and I'm not talking about Chris')![]()
