The other bad thing that happened to me is I was served court papers yesterday. I thought it was for something with my fire department but it was not. It is over a doctor bill from 2007, when my son was born. We had called our doctors office when we first received a 1400.00 bill, and we wanted to find out if the insurance paid there half. Doctors office said they would get back to us, but never did. So we thought the insurance company paid it off in full. Well they did not. So when I spoke with the debt collector today, she stated that we were required to appear in small claims court, if it was not paid off by April 3, 2009. I asked her if we could set up a payment plan over six months, and she said we could, but it would be twelve percent interest!! No way am I going to give them any more money than they are alredy getting. So I called the insurance company, and they stated that they paid 14,000.00, and it was our responsibility for the 1400.00. That would normally not be a big deal, if we received the bill in a timely fashion. Now it is up to 1900.00 because of a 200.00 filing fee and a 300.00 attorney fee. I was very upset, and still am, but it is not going to change, so I am making it happen. I came very close to cancelling due to this, but I know my daughter would be upset if we cancelled two times in a row, so we will still be cruising. We cancelled the first time due to the pregnancy, and now the bills. Lol. Fortunately we had not taken the 2000.00 we received in tax refund money and put it on the cruise, so we were able to pay off the stupid doctor bill. However, now we have a very tight budget to stick to to make ends meet. But we know what we have to do each week, so that we can make it. I am sorry this was such a long post..Just venting my mind. That's terrible they would wait that long and then demand it and make you go to court!
